My grandmother drives like this every time we go shopping.
I love your grandma!
Nothing better than sunset in turn 3 at The Grove... unless you are trying to see where you are going.
jacktheripped OMG!!
cant agree more
i love williams grove its so fun to feel the vibrations through the ground as teh cars go by
One of my favorite drivers. He never gives up and races hard every time he's behind the wheel. Keep up the good work KM
Thank you Mr Madsen, we loved rideing with you here in the UK.
Nice to see an Australian doing well in the U.S.A. 😎
He has got more play in that right front wheel than I do on my old 1961 case tractor. I would think that would make it harder to hold a line than need be.
Its the stag they run at the grove since the left wheel is off the ground most of the time there
A torsion bar inside the steering box controls the amount of deflection you see at the right front wheel. A stiffer bar would lessen the movement but it would be at the price of excessive feedback at the steering wheel.
@@numbzinger350 Really? Sounds pequliar. More slack and imprecise steering is a good thing??
@@k.kristianjonsson4814 Yup.
@@numbzinger350 Car cameras on other cars shows no steering flex.
< not a dirt guy. Two questions. 1. What are the perforations in the track? 2. Why is the steering rack so loose? That right front was just dancing around without Kerry even moving the steering wheel.
Dwarfracer88 the perforations come from what’s called a sheepsfoot. It is a piece of track equipment used to pound the dirt in tight so it doesn’t break apart. And as for 2 I have no idea, has always puzzled me with sprint cars
Bump steering!
The steering moving around is due to the steering sector having a torsion bar that attaches to the Pittman arm. They come in different diameters depending on preference and manufacturer. It's normal for them to move some but when the driver turns hard one direction or the other it will turn the wheel with ample force.
Love my home track Williams Grove
They don't call him the " Madman" for nothing. He wheels the hell out of a sprintcar and his brother Ian also. The Grove is an awesome track. These guys fly around that place
Let's see those formula one guys do that
There was a Haas F1 guy who did a run under the direction of Smoke. He didn't take his cajoles back to Finland !
Xfishf00D lets see sprint car drivers race an f1 car😂 they are two different things all you guys sound so dumb saying this
@@motorsportministries7843 take it easy cal I was complementing his driving...I could do both but no one will give me a chance and my poor ass can't afford it
Your right tire Is dodgy
7:48 he hit that corner / burm perfectly...the back end dug in & slung him down the back stretch...sweet.
I have been watching all sorts of motor sport since 1965, starting at warwick farm in Sydney australia until it closed and saw emerson fittipaldi, john sertees, and stacks of F1 driver, speedway saw Aj Foyte, Sleepy Trip Mario andretti, Johnny rutherford,. Hundreds more.
Kerry could have race Formula 1 no problem his car control and ability to read ahead is right up there with steve kinser, jack haudenschild and people like Mel Kenyen and The unsers,
Love watching hid drive and comming from the rear is no problem.
While I'm driving my sons Yard Kart this is what I imagine I'm doing.
The Madman
Not even close.... So far off..... Doubt they can dial in and figure it out.
Ass end too soft......., too loose.......too much stagger getting in.....Soft ass rocks over on LR at apex,..... picks front end and pushes coming off......\
Unload....Left Grove notes at home......Out to lunch.
@Jimmy Neal That's what Mrs. Madsen said........... *_He's a real handful_*
go pro settings?
you've seen the rest now sit down in that chair and watch the best.... (quit wa )
Williams Grove ? Looks great 👍
Looks and sounds like a 900 hp ironing board!
It's good to see Kerry doing well over in the states
Are you Australian?
ShanksyM03 ___ yes he is
Yep he sure is go the Aussies
By far one of the greatest videos I’ve ever watched.
Sure runs quiet for first half vlog! But, this was on my bucket list, but at 75+364 days, I’ll pass, but thanks for the ride. One best sounds I’ve ever heard is a car of this type going up pikes peak hill climb. It is awesome sounding up there.
When your girlfriend is home alone
Can someone explain why the right front has so much deflection? Is this due to a weak torsion bar? Also what is the purpose of it? I’m sure it has some benefit.
So you can drive that thing in there as hard as you want and whip a left?
I’m a little late but the answer is yes kind of. Sprint Cars have two rear wheels of different sizes. The left side tire is smaller than the right. This produces an effect on the car similar to rolling a solo cup around a table. In well setup sprint car the driver has to do minimal steering through the corners
I guess that temp guage does not work? If it does not good for the engine turning it hard stone cold!
Doesn't matter if you're rebuilding the engine every few races...
They are not given any time to warm up since they need to be push started
The motors run on methanol so they rarely get above 180. Especially on cool nights. They have engine warmers in the pits to warm them up but the radiator and aluminum block dissipate heat very quickly
@@tysherberd8586 Behind the scenes the usually have time to warm the cars up. Most tracks have something called "heat in the motors" Push the cars on track, they may run a lap. Come to the pits and keep running for about 10-15 minutes to get heat in the engines. Then you'll usually kill then engine and hook up an oil heater that cycles heated oil through the engine. You also have salamander heaters point at the engines. Also like another person said you're running 99.9% methanol, which helps you run cooler temps.
O my..I was leaning my head turn the turn and feeling the drift on my butt....one of the best in car videos
LR be like HEY RF how you holdin up. LF and RR be like dude just hang in there.lol
Man wish I had the money to do that that looks hella fun. Question, is it fun?
Obviously kerry is an excellent driver..hes been at it a long time
Tanner holmes races there you should check out his youtube
Lol, no he doesn't...
You must have confused Williams Grove with Cottage Grove.
Trevor yeah I was about to say the same
Who cares about tanners 360.We got outlaws here
@ryan14r95 this aged very poorly
That's crazy how little load is ever on that RF bar!
So im new to dirt track racing so forgive my ignorance but do these cars not have starting motors in them?
No they don't have a starter.
No transmission either.
It's in gear or it isn't.
Meaning, to start engine,
You put it in gear,
Then push the car with another vehicle.
If you take it out of gear running, you can't put it back in gear without shutting engine off, put in gear, push again.
( Has no clutch )
Direct drive.
Notice start of race, ROLLING Start.
They are the most awesome type of ANY Race CAR in my opinion.
Go to a
World Of Outlaws
Show.
Be like nothing you've ever seen.
I do the same type of racing on Dirt, but on a motorcycle.
Flat track motorcycle racing.
Check that out too.
Both very cool, and takes big balls to do either one.
TRUE AMERICAN Sports.
Hope you go see both.
PREFERABLY on a MILE dirt oval.
Very fast, (triple digit ) fast,
Inches apart in both cases.
These men & women, ( yes there's a few )
Are TRUE GLADIATORS.
What a huge track.
How much caster do they run on the front axle.
The squeaky noise was killing me
wheel is lifting on the corners!
Wow would love to do this
Man how do these guys nuts fit in the car that's crazy lol
The drivers cockpit looks alot smaller on video. Plus since the engine takes up most of the space in the front, so your feet go directly down and it's a different angle your sitting at versus an actual car or another vehicle
Was at this race. Great weekend.
It amazing that those little front wheels can do anything, also steer right go left.
90% of the steering is done with the right foot the front wheels just offer a suggestion
What's up with the steering?
The wheel needs to be that loose in order to counter steer easily
great video !!! thanks
Damn all carbon fiber?
No... It's tube framed with 4130 cromolly
Track ?
