Congratulations to you both on summiting! I could tell that was a challenging hike. And a BIG congratulations to the 82 year old lady as well! What an inspiration!
Wow what a beautiful hike. I am inspired. There have been hikes and places in my life when/where we have been so awestruck we found ourselves worshipping, so I smiled when you mentioned the colors God gives us in His creation. IF He wills it, I sure hope I am still hiking and biking in my 80s. God bless you for taking us along on your adventure!
I remember crossing your youtube ch years ago when you did the kayaks and caves. I commented that you should take the summit hike. Made my day to see this clip and that you were able to hike it. Funny you mention the 82 yr old, when i reached the top/ summit. This young couple showed up. Took a minute to take a breath. They ran/ jogged all the way up then ran back down. No water, no back packs, no nothing but the running cloths & shoes. Lassen is a hiden gem
Thank you Randy and Julie. I loved the awesome views and the wonderful music. Your videos are always so inspiring,. God Bless the both of you and America's Parks... Robin 🙏🙏😊
I m currently in Crescent City CA and enjoyed a dazzling and an awe-inspiring day in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. My next stop is Oregon Caves, where I just recently watched a video you and Hailey visiting. From there I’m bouncing back and forth in my mind of heading to Crater Lake OR Mt Lassen CA too, one of the two is all I have time for this trip. Julie, Randy, family, and friends have such mesmerizing smiles that give joy to help aspire a purpose of life.
It's great that the two of you had the chance to escape together. That is some insane wind there - bet that made for a colder hike. Wow, those ladies sound impressive!
Lassen is such an underrated park. We were blessed to go in August 2022. The girls loved hiking up Lassen Peak and nicknamed it BIG GELLA LOL. The views from up there are just incredible, So glad you and Julie were able to make it up
Great views from up there! I've actually been passed up on the trail before by people in their '70s It's amazing what your body can do! God willing will be hiking well into our 70s
I would love to visit Lassen someday. A mini Yellowstone in California. I would also like to visit Craters of the Moon National Monument, as it looks so cool.
what a hike!! 2000ft is a lot for one hike for sure/ crazy snow this year. Beautiful Views, we still have not made it up to Lassen partly due to it being so cold up there all the time and im a heat freak but really cool to see it this way, glad you enjoy it thanks for taking us with you
Yeah, this place really has a short season. Couldn't believe Bumpass Hell was still closed on late July. A couple months later and the snow will be arriving!
Loved this video (and I've seen many that you have done)!❤ Seeing you hike with your wife was great, and the music made it so special. Almost got tears at one point, lol. Thank you for your continued inspiration. I'm a huge fan of the channel.
You've got a good hat there Randy, it survived the wind and stayed on your head! What an amazing looking hike. I didn't realize Lassen had erupted that recently. Blessings brother.
What an amazing looking hike!! I was thrilled to see you post this video as we are planning a trip to Lassen NP next month and have been interested in this hike. Thank you for giving us a look at what to expect and the inspiration to attempt it. Also I just want to say how much I truly enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for taking the time to make and share them. They are so encouraging and make me excited to see more of America's Parks!
That was really an encouraging comment to read, Jackie! Planning to get another video up next that provides a good overview of Lassen NP. Hope you have a great trip!
Visited there at the end of July 2017. Upper campground had just opened due to excessive snow, many hiking trails still closed. Parking lot you show was ringed by 10 foot walls of snow all around.
That's funny, because that was the about the same time I visited with my daughter in 2017, maybe a couple weeks earlier. Everything was closed past Manzanita due to the snow. The whole road was shut down. Tried to not go too early this year, but still, Bumpass Hell was closed.
Thanks for showing off this park! I grew up about an hour away from there so it’s the park I’ve been to the most and so underrated. My mom always says we don’t need to go to Yellowstone because Lassen has all the same stuff. I’d say that’s debatable but it’s pretty all the same. I’ve summited Lassen 3 times now and done the cinder cone death march once and it’s one of my fav places, glad you got to see it on a clear year as the last several times I’ve traveled home it’s been too smoky or closed altogether due to fires.
So, I did this hike back in July 2016. I must have been in really good hiking shape back then because I remember thinking it felt a little too easy, lol. Now, I did the Brokeoff Mountain a year prior at this national park and thought it was way harder and an overall better hike with better views. So, if you ever get the chance, I highly recommend Brokeoff Mountain. Thanks for taking me back, Randy!
Interesting, the ranger recommended Brokeoff Mountain saying he enjoys that one better too. We only had time for one so we ent with the classic Lassen.
That looks like an awesome hike with absolutely gorgeous scenery and the views....!!! Did I hear Jersey shore mentioned in there? Congrats fellow New Jersey folk. I'm used to Jersey elevation, Mt. Tammany being the one I'm most familiar with. I hike it every year to celebrate my BDay. While not as impressive as this, still an awesome hike in itself.
I'll be in Lassen in mid-September, but I won't be climbing the peak. We plan to see the thermal spot, though. It will be my first time in No. California. Congrats on getting to the summit.
Have a super trip! Plan to upload my "best of lassen video" this evening at 6 pm est. Hope you find it helpful! Also, Bumpass Hell was closed for us in mid-July, you guys should be good to go in September.
I was there about the same time and most of the park was closed. You must have had to hike from the parking lot and up the road past the road block? I might have been at a different entrance though. There was a reflection lake just past the guard gate where I went in. Except for a lot of burnt trees it was an under rated park.
It really depends on your child's stamina. Not many exposed surfaces, but I'd still keep a close eye on them. Bring plenty of water. In all likelihood, they'll do better than the parents. lol! Average hiker is 4-6 hours on this hike.
Though a lot was destroyed by the Dixie Fire, I'd still say it's a great park to visit! Check out my newest upload about all there is to see (tonight - 6 pm est).
We did this hike a couple of years ago. It was one of our favorites. Thanks for bringing back great memories.
John and Bev
Great to hear my friends! Congratulations on your accomplishment! God bless!
Congratulations to you both on summiting! I could tell that was a challenging hike. And a BIG congratulations to the 82 year old lady as well! What an inspiration!
That 82 year-old woman was amazing! Inspirational for all of us!

God bless you, brother! So thankful for your "eyes to see."
Wow, this is truly breathtaking scenery my friend. Overall quality is spectacular!
Really appreciate the kind words! Have a blessed week!

Loved the comment! Yes, great memory! in 2017 the mountain was closed due to the snow. Successful 6 years later! Thanks for the suggestion!
Great way to spend my Sunday New Episode of America’s Parks ❤
Right on, my friend! :)
Thank you Randy and Julie. I loved the awesome views and the wonderful music. Your videos are always so inspiring,. God Bless the both of you and America's Parks... Robin 🙏🙏😊
Thanks so much, brother! Hope you are enjoying your Lord's day and have a blessed week as an ambassador for Christ!

Glad you are having a great trip... both of those are excellent choices, would be hard for m to chose one. Thanks for the inspiring encouragement!
It's great that the two of you had the chance to escape together. That is some insane wind there - bet that made for a colder hike. Wow, those ladies sound impressive!
Thanks, Josh! So nice to get away... just the two of us. One of the benefits of older children! :)

Hey, great to hear of your accomplishment! That hike is no joke! :)
82!?!! That truly is inspiring! Thanks for such great videos and views!
Right on! Really gives all of us a lot of hope!
Beautiful!
Nice hike and glad to see Julie out there with you! Take Care.
Thanks much for the kind words! So nice to be alone with her and make these memories together!
Such a beautiful hike and congratulations on the two of you for summiting - well done.
Thanks for the encouraging words!
We did that as a family when I was a kid. Fun hike. I remember it being pretty hard.
Glad to hear.. you'll always cherish those memories!
Great views from up there! I've actually been passed up on the trail before by people in their '70s It's amazing what your body can do! God willing will be hiking well into our 70s
Right on! I believe the key is to not only stay in shape, but keep hiking! As the theologian Martin Luther once said, "If I rest, I rust."
So, this video inspired me to do this same hike next month! Thanks so much for the inspiration! What an amazing part of God's creation!
Amen!!! The Lord's best on your upcoming trip! Have a "best of" Lassen NP video being released at 6pm tonight est.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing
That was a great adventure- so thankful to be your travel partner!
One we'll always remember! ...and that wind!
I would love to visit Lassen someday. A mini Yellowstone in California. I would also like to visit Craters of the Moon National Monument, as it looks so cool.
Highly recommend both of those places. Looking to get an overview of Lassen video up next. Take care!
I’ve decided to start checking out the California parks, and this one is second on my list. Looks like a great hike! Thank you for sharing.
Really some gems in the Golden State. Cool trifecta up in the northern end - Lassen, Redwood and Crater (in Oregon).

You've got a good hat there Randy, it survived the wind and stayed on your head! What an amazing looking hike. I didn't realize Lassen had erupted that recently. Blessings brother.
Hey brother! Hope you and the family are doing well! Yeah, nice time away recently with Julie. One of the blessings of older children! :)
Oh yes! Here we go! Looking forward to seeing how many different stops/ clips you have coming from this trip! Great start!
Thanks, brother! Good times out in northern CA!
Another great one!
Much appreciated, brother!
Great amazing hike
Appreciate the kind words!
Another great adventure! Shasta brings back memories of camping on Lake Shasta as a kid in the Early 70's.
Yeah, recall your stories of good times out there! Have a great week, brother!
Great channel

@@AmericasParks yeah, we missed Bumpas, was closed. Had a great 4 days at emerald bay SP after that.
I'm going to go this weekend! I hope to have a great time
Really hope you had an enjoyable visit Lassen!
@@AmericasParksI did, I got to the peak in an hour 20 min!

Thanks for the great comment! Nice to hear of your find memories of Lassen... and enjoyed the comment comparing it to Yellowstone! :)
Amazing stuff. The hike down has to be terrifying. You guys sure go big. But I think half dome in Yosemite would be scarrier.
Absolutely, Half Dome is a few notches up on the intensity level from this one. Still, HD was probably the best hike I ever did. Take care!
kudos sir,,,,,,,
Much appreciated!
Incredible views from the summit! My little asthmatic lungs were feeling for you. 😬
Haha... feels like a vice grip around your lungs. Have a great week, Heather!

Looks like a great hike. Knowing my luck, I'd summit and that mofo would go bang though
This is an impressive hike for both of you to complete !Congratulations 🎉
Take care always.
Thanks so much, James!

Absolutely, my friend - we're from Central Jersey on the shore. Tammany is incredible. Probably my favorite "hometown" hike!
What hiking app do you prefer to use on your many hikes? Always enjoy your videos. Herb
Thanks, much, Herb! I have used both All Trails and The Hiking Project. Seem to enjoy the HP app a little more.
I'll be in Lassen in mid-September, but I won't be climbing the peak. We plan to see the thermal spot, though. It will be my first time in No. California. Congrats on getting to the summit.

Very beautiful, as usual. And very well edited. How do you not have 1 million subscribers by now?
haha... because people simply are not as insightful and appreciative of these videos as you! :) Have a super week!
Great job! Did you go to nearby Burney Falls while you were there?
Thanks... actually I was hoping to get out there (did the local cave), but we simply ran out of time.
Burney Falls in amazing!
This hike is a super fun awesome summit!
You must have quite a camera crew to get all those amazing shots lol
Yeah, my 25 person production team is amazing!
I was there about the same time and most of the park was closed. You must have had to hike from the parking lot and up the road past the road block? I might have been at a different entrance though. Yeah, we were good and able to drive through the park... things must have just opened. Unfortunately, Bumpass Hell was still closed, covered in snow.
Loved this hike! Did you also do the hike up Cinder Cone?
Great to hear you've enjoyed this one! Only went to the "true summit" and skipped the cinder cone section.
Impressive elevation change- even more so for someone at 82!
They were really impressive!
Were you in the area for a few days prior to acclimate to the elevation? Love watching your videos.
Thanks much, Anne! Actually, I seem to adjust rather quickly. Thankfully, ever an issue with elevation sickness.
Beautiful video! Would you recommend doing this hike with kids as young as 9? How long did it take you and your wife? Thanks!
It really depends on your child's stamina. Not many exposed surfaces, but I'd still keep a close eye on them. Bring plenty of water. In all likelihood, they'll do better than the parents. lol! Average hiker is 4-6 hours on this hike.
@@AmericasParks thank you!
Is Lassen worth visiting?
Though a lot was destroyed by the Dixie Fire, I'd still say it's a great park to visit! Check out my newest upload about all there is to see (tonight - 6 pm est).
💯🏔💪
Thanks for watching, my friend!
