I saw the word "Pokemon" and Julia's avatar on the card pop up, and I broke out into what I can only describe as a "cold sweat of glee"

The added layer of challenge beyond Julia not knowing Pokemon is that Julia's word association skills are like no one else's in the world.

To be fair the appearance and name are often quite correlated
the names are almost always based off appearance anyway but julias mind is corrupted😭

the fact that julia drew a man first and THEN a pinecone when drawing PINECO says a lot about how julia's mind works
From her later comment, I get the impression that she drew it that way because otherwise everyone would've guessed Pineco from a pinecone and she wanted to get her VISION out.

I am convinced that NOBODY IN THE WORLD has a mind like Julia's. She's 10 steps ahead of everyone, and then takes 5 steps to the left. Like, everything she does makes sense when she explains it, but it's like, how the f*** did your mind get there and why did it take such an absurd path so seamlessly??? This ep is freaking gold and we definitely need more like it. We need to just let Julia explore and be.

Makes sense to me, and probably anyone who doesn’t know Pokémon. 🤷🏼♀️ They keep trying to guess based on lore or actual shape or whatever and the whole point of this is that she’s just drawing the literal name sounds. Peek… achoo. Fine. They’re like “what’s a two headed slug type?” Flabebe… combing flame or flamingo and baby. Fine. Meanwhile they’re like “what is a baby fire type?”
Now they’re on “let’s name all the turtle ones” because she drew a turtle. 🤦🏼♀️
Okay but Julia's actually genius with Flabebe. Of course she would think of the French word for baby and incorporate it! Love it.

Yeah...once we know which pokemon it is, all the drawings are just perfect. El E-Kid was my favorite...perfectly what it was, but also impossible.
I'm only commenting because they told me I have to if I got that it was Flabebe before them.
But for real, even without video you could tell that Julia perked up when they first said "baby," but the rest of the crew got so stuck on "Flame" that she couldn't guide them away from it.

I remember when Julia made the ska armory joke and I’m always thinking about it. Every time I see a skarmory while playing Pokémon I exclusively call it ska armory. The moment Julia said she was setting the scene I knew immediately that’s what it had to be. I was overfilled with joy the whole time it was being drawn. I’m so glad ska armory has finally gotten the drawing it deserves.

@@CrazyOrangeChannel An armory is where weapons are kept. Ska is a type of music. So she drew an armory that also had things associated with ska music.
When I got it I legit screamed “ITS SKA ARMORY!”
The real problem here is that they're all guessing based on things Julia would not know if she just read the names. Drawing a fire doesn't mean it's a fire-type, she doesn't know what that is!
I did actually get Pickachu pretty fast. But I don’t know Pokémon so I was just taking the standard Pictionary route rather than trying to associate what they actually look like or what their abilities are or whatever… if I had more names for reference I’d probably do a lot better than people who do know Pokémon, just because I wouldn’t have pre-established visuals getting in the way. 🤷🏼♀️

I can't get over how drawing the beret for flabebe was genuinely a really good clue, since flabebe was from Kalos.
It's probably just because bébé is French for baby. I don't think Julia knows what a Kalos is.
Julia should do this with everyone's nerd speciality. This one Nathan was the MVP, next one should have Julia draw some literal Yu-Gi-Oh monsters or some Digimon. And the one after should have some literal Bloodborne bosses.

I got it from the flamingo part. Coincidentally, just after they said they'd rage if it wasn't fire type. So, I said "no!" out loud, scandalized, before bursting out laughing...
I love how they kept slipping I and out of getting them super fast and then having no earthly idea what Julia was trying to do; like they were sneaking into her mind palace to momentarily catch glimpses of the truth only to immediately get chased out again by the horrors living in the non-euclidean hallways lmao.

You gotta appreciate Julia taking the prompt and not going wild with it. She took the names literally, which was the literal prompt. Shout out to her glorious literal interpretations that made me go “oooooooooooooooooh!!!” every time xD
Julia is on a whole other level both with how she makes art AND how her mind breaks down words… like with the infamous Spheal, what the average person sees as a mashup of “sphere” and “seal”, Julia ended up at “skeezy feel-up”! And now Elekid (electric kid) turns into el-E-kid… astounding!
I find it super comical that Julia kept saying she is only looking at the names while Nathan kept naming pokemons that looked similar to Julia's drawings.

The more that went in, I started to parse that Julia’s drawings are always based on how her mind breaks down the names and I was screeching “FLA BE BE!” at the screen the whole time.
I still wonder how the French Speaker didn't parse out that Flabebe is literally Flaur and Bebe smashed together and drew a baby on fire instead of a baby made of/covered in flower petals.
@@declanmckenna6854 The French word for flower is "fleur", not flaur. In fact, the French word for flame is "flamme" And because she's never seen the Pokémon before, a flame baby would be my closest guess as well based on the name alone.
@@declanmckenna6854I don't think it's that she didn't parse it, but that she's trying to draw something to make them think of the name, so (especially assuming the other three don't speak french) it makes more sense to draw a flambe, flames, and a baby because the pronunciation is very similar to "flame baby"

For the Skarmory one, I was so convinced it was Sirfetch’d. He is a Sir (knight) who is Fetching something (from the store).
Yeah I was so confused why they didn't guess all the most obvious knight-associated ones immediately like Sirfetch'd and Corviknight, just to get them out there.
Granted it wouldn't have mattered, but still

The lesson of this episode is that Julia’s word association and Pictionary skills are exceptional lol
Obviously we need more of this! But would love to see Julia just drawing what she thinks the Pokemon looks like based on the name, rather than the full pictionary style.

Another good variation, like telephone: show her a Pokémon, she has to give it a name (bc she won’t guess it). And then someone else has to draw the Pokémon based on that name. Then they have to guess the original pokemon

I actually got Flabébé, I thought what Julia drew for that was really smart. The combination of the first 2 images made me think of Flambé and Baby, and the flamingo confirmed the 'Fla' sound
I know almost nothing about Pokemon, and even I said Flambeby the minute I saw the first picture

Am i crazy for wanting an even more insane version of this video where Julia just draws pokemon based on wherever her mind and associations take her (so it's not based on or tied to their literal names, unless Julia decides to go in that direction)? The only one I legit got before any hints from Julia was Flabebe. It was hilarious how everyone kept saying the words that made up the sounds of its name, but just not connecting them. As soon as Julia started Drawing, I completely blanked on Pokémon names. It was as if I was forced into the position she’s in during every other Pokémon draw challenge.
I can't wait for the opposite of this, watching Julia try to guess what Pokemon's names are based on what everyone else draws. But Jacob, Nathan, and Karina can look at as much reference as they want, and Julia still won't get close.

I don't know pokemon, but I feel like julia nailed this. If the other hosts had remembered it was names taken literally i think they would have performed better 😂
I dunno about that? I tried to keep in mind only the names, and although I did slightly better than them, some were /very/ difficult. If you know pokemon even a little bit, it's hard to remove the way the names are supposed to be pronounced (like Elekid and Skarmory) to how Julia interpreted it so she could make an image representation.
Even if drawfee did this again, we'd probably get similar results I think! With there being over a 1000 pokemon, remembering pokemon's names (and images) is hard enough as is without thinking of breaking down every name into pieces or mispronouncing it to conjure another word....
Like Skarmory was impossible for me, I never would have connected it that way (plus Ska's hype was before my time so I had no idea what those objects meant together- I thought it was a hipster or neckbeard stereotype reference at first).
I was convinced the whole time that it was Corvinite and kept waiting for the corvid clue (it looked like a hoard of shiny things and no details Julia added on changed that idea. I even thought the speech bubble was like a raven repeating words a la Nevermore)!
There are 1000 Pokémon. It’s not easy to remember every name lmao, especially when so many Pokémon are so obscure
Plus I think some of it was more that a pokemon that is a sword probably has a name that could be related to an armory
@@Dancingpinata- Skarmory is a reference to a previous Drawfee Pokemon episode, where Julia would not shut the fuck up about ska, and it was wonderful.

Honestly I would love to see this Pictionary type of episode as a mini-series. For the audience we get to see into the mind of you guys, its entertaining as all your videos are, and I imagine it's a little easier to produce compared to more edited videos. Could even do it on twitch to get the viewers more involved.
Please please make more of this series! I also suggest that it should be called “Who’s that Julia-mon?” cuz Julia is the host + artist and everyone else has to guess (like “Who’s that Pokemon”)
