    Just a tip for the people doing this repair. The sensor has a tapered thread and does not need to be that tight. Just snug it up and another half turn should be enough.

      Likewise, the spark plugs on the DuraTec engine have a tapered thread. I like to use a torque wrench when I can, but tapered fittings scare me. I am very, very careful when I tighten down anything that is taped.

    Great video. 2010 Ford Escape v6. I was able to replace mine from underneath the vehicle. While changing the oil, I removed the oil filter and was able to access the oil pressure sensor. Removed with a spark plug socket and a box end wrench. No compressor or belt removal required.

      Hey thanks for posting this. I have same 2010 v6 Escape and was also able to remove it using this method. Saved me a heap of time. Slid the spark plug socket (minus the rubber insert) over the sensor and then used an adjustable crescent wrench to loosen via the socket as it has a square wrench notches. Tightened via the reverse. Had to play with the socket to get it over the ac compressor though. Cheers!

      I too can confirm, removing the oil filter makes this a 10 minute job on a 2007 Escape. I used a spark plug socket and a ratchet. There is just enough room to wiggle the socket and wrench onto the sender with the connector disconnected.

  • @love4lust7301
    @love4lust7301 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is very easy to remember a layout of a belt without checking the diagram. The grove side goes into the groove side of the pulleys that why they have groves in them the smooth side go to backside of the tensioner which keeps tension on the belt so the belt doesn't slip out of the pulley. Remember that and you will never need to remember a belt diagram. ( Groove side down, smooth side up )

    Ford had two models of this unit. They changed it in mid-year 2007 which means that year gave you a 50% chance of getting the right part unless you ordered both to compare to the old one, then send one of them back..
    Ford also changed the body from Gen1 to Gen2 in 2008. However, the 2008 model year still had the Gen1 engines and transmissions. Ford loves to keep us confused!
    I love my Escape but I don't think Ford loves me.

    How long did you drive your car with the light on? When would you have worried it was the pump? Please answer ASAP happy thanksgiving

    • @GarageBoys
      @GarageBoys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you have a bad pump there’s no oil flow so you will hear your engine knock, also without oil friction will create heat and your car will overheat. It can cause a lot of major issues so please make sure your pump is good.

    • @Jessehernandez83

    Thank you for Posting this!!! I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute V6. Light was flickering On/Off when I was on the Freeway. It went on for about 15min. (Light coming on for 1min then Off.. then On again) after 15min.... the light did not come back On... Do I need to Change it still? or should I wait and see if it will come back? and if not, just leave it as is? (My Oil Is Topped Up btw.)

    • @GarageBoys
      @GarageBoys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hopefully it won’t come back, but from passed experience it comes back and gets worst with time, most of it’s because the sensor has a leak and and the system looses more and more pressure with time. If it comes back just replace the sensor or sometimes a oil change will do.

      @@GarageBoys Just want to thank you again and report that I successfully replaced the oil sensor on a 2005 Mazda Tribute S. At first, I tried pulling the same way as shown on the video towards the front to loosen the tensioner; however, it seems, was only tightening the belt. In the end, I found it much easier to pull on the tensioner and loosen the belt from underneath the car after removing the splash guard. Interestingly enough, I had to pull towards the rear of the car. Difference between Ford and Mazda?
      The top A/C compressor bolt was quite difficult to access; rested the compressor on a jack stand instead of the bungee cord. Also want to add that the oil pressure sensor's connector, in my case, had a small orange rubber seal inside which fell out while unplugging it from the old oil pressure sensor. To others - be careful not to lose it!

    Had the same problem, didnt remove the compressor, used a crows foot instead. Changed the sensor. It was fine for a couple days then the light came back but after double the time it normally did, but it was after a 20 min sprint on the freeway in addition to street driving for 10 mins. It still only came on only at idle. A few days it doesnt come on after 1/2 hr of driving, and yesterday it didnt come on after a half he drive including 15 mins on the freeway but did come on once briefly for a few seconds on the return trip. It seems really random now, sometimes not at all, occasionally after 20 mins driving. Im due for an oil change but the level is fine.

    • @GarageBoys

      oil pressure switch lets you know if your oil pump is pumping the right oil pressure in the engine, if the pressure is low the engine won't have good lubrication and it will overheat. so yes it can cause it to overheat as well as a bad water pump or leak.
