    Ignore 18010 term 30 it’s a normal fault for a battery disconnect and also when you flash the ecu it thinks you cut power but you didn’t focus on the other faults

    That door sensor code is a common problem. Mine does it intermittently so it's a hard fault to find, I will change the door sensor when I get a chance. Great video! I love working on my TT and I will be getting my daughter interested in fixing and maintaining motors. Ladies seem to have much more patience than men do on fiddley jobs! Keep up the great vids!

    Don't know the exact DTC codes, but you might be getting the rear O2 sensor code, because you don't have your catalytic converter. You actually might want to use the elbow to minimize the fumes getting to the rear O2 sensor in order to delete the code.

    • @georgelathwood8524
      @georgelathwood8524 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This guy is right better to have it wrote out of the tune though so it stays off

  • @AZMTB
    @AZMTB 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The plugs are specific because one is for upstream and the other is for downstream. I had a similar issue with O2's on my old RS4. I wouldn't assume that "customizing" this to work will mean this will work long term.

    Sarah put that elbow on the second O2 since you don't have a cat and it will take care of the second 02 code.

    • @KrustyKlown
      @KrustyKlown 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      or she could "delete" it with an ECU flash? .. since the 2nd O2 usually is only for verifying that the CAT is working ... could have saved buying a new one.

    • @Dave-fx5zw
      @Dave-fx5zw 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The postcat sensor faults are related to the heater circuit, not to the sensing circuit. Removing the sensor from direct exhaust flow with a defouler will only effect the sensing portion of the O2, not the heater side.

    • @rudolfopadilla535
      @rudolfopadilla535 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Must be the plug

    • @FALLOUT20rads
      @FALLOUT20rads 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep the job of the number 2 oxygen sensor is to measure the threshold or condition of the cat. If there isn’t a big enough Variance between the front 02 and the rear, the computer will see it as a defensive catalytic converter.

    • @Paul_VanGo
      @Paul_VanGo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The second O2 is only there to check if the cat is still working. Since the car is de-cat, the second sensor reads it as a faulty cat. The ECU is actually doing everything right, removing the catalyst converter made a mess of things. And removing it doesn't even make the car any faster. That was only a fact until the late nineties. Nowadays a de-cat really doesn't matter, apart from introducing fault codes.

  • @peterx213
    @peterx213 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Not only does this fix the limp mode problem but you will have quicker boost response and u wount have the boost jumping up and down

    B1 s2 should be sensor 2 on bank 1 which would be the downstream 🤔 least thats how it is on my 13 silverado since gm thought it was a great idea to put 4 o2 sensors on it 😑😑 teeter tot sounds sooooo good with that exhaust and tune Sarah whoo!!

  • @guidois14

    Sarah-n-Tuned - I just figured out what I like about your channel... When things go wrong you say what's on your mind - as lots of people do - but you never lose your enthusiasm. You treat your cars as if you've taken a Hippocratic Oath to make them better, no matter how small the problem (or how obscure the error code). Too many of us have given up mid-project when things go wrong, or worse, not started projects for fear of failing. Anyone who has avoided doing something they love for this reason should watch your channel to get re-inspired. Thanks!

  • @69gaugeman
    @69gaugeman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The temp gauge is not really a gauge but more like a over temp light... any where between , I believe 80 and 100 degrees C it just shows as 90. This , I assume , is to not alarm non car people. That is why there are two sensors in the coolant temp switch. One for the gauge and one for the ECU.

    I feel your pain working on older Audis when you're chasing down a million little issues. I wish Ross -Tech was around when I first started working on them, for years all I had was the Bentley, and later added a bootlegged ETKA CD from the UK. Be thankful you don't have to solder some resistors and and LED up and plug in to the early two port OBD systems and count blinks to ID trouble codes. Love watching the TT segments, inspires me to find a new project, the Audis in the driveway are under warranty so why not get something that requires too much time and maybe obsolete parts (I once had a 1990 Coupe Quattro in pearl with blue leather, one of 27 imported, that was fun)? I hope once Teeter Tot is done you find another swearable Audi...maybe an allroad (I have my eye on a 4.2 with minimal service history)?

    I’m betting your O2 sensors or what they call now air fuel ratio sensor’s are Bosch on that car I’ve never had any luck with Bosch O2 sensors I’ve always pulled them out of my cart and put in Denso units!!

    Secondary O2 sensor is to verify if CAT is working properly. If you don't have a CAT then install the elbow on Secondary O2 and that will stop if from giving a fault. The elbow will heat up the sensor tricking ECU into thinking its working properly.

  • @TheFlyingMechanicDIY
    @TheFlyingMechanicDIY 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Watch out, your coolant sensor is a dual sensor that feeds the ECU and Instrument panel separately, read the block from the ECU then read it through the instrument panel block, if the reading is different, check the connector for the sensor (4 wires) if they check out ok then its the sensor to blame, although gauges on the mk1 are known to fail.

    Well done with the flash, glad you're pleased by how he puts you in the seat now. And again, I appreciate the quotes on stage! Sounds like the fans are back to pulsing, not constant high speed. Are they still on at key on engine off? and lets get nerdy...
    As others have said, terminal 30(constant power circuit) is probably nothing to worry about, unless your upstream heater circuit fault returns, O2 heater circuits are the highest load circuit through the ECM, so a bad ground could be throwing things off. The heater circuits are the 2 white wires on each O2, fused power supplied at key on and the ECM controls ground to allow them to heat up to a temperature where the sensing element is functional, > ~300*C. The heater elements specs in resistance from 1 to about 15 ohms, and is Positive Temperature Coefficient, so raises as it heats up, which is why the wires are kind of small, it's only carrying up to 15A for a second, they're not 200W heater elements once they start working. You'll be in for a few simple voltage and continuity checks on that downstream sensor harness as long as the upstream heater circuit fault doesn't return, it'll get a little deeper if it does.
    The 16514 (P0130) was caused by either that sensor you removed being bad, or that it was spaced out of the exhaust stream, and not properly sensing Oxygen content. The purpose of those defoulers is to trick the downstream sensor into creating a more linear voltage, as normally the cat would be 'buffering' the Oxygen content it would see, where as the upstream(or DS with no cat in front of it) will normally be switching back and forth from a higher to lower Oxygen content in your exhaust, we can go into how the sensing circuit compares exhaust oxygen content to ambient levels, and creates a voltage potential another time! Your catalyst monitor should be turned off on your 'off-road use only' TT, so it shouldn't matter, but cat monitoring faults are set when the switching period of the downstream sensor is too rapid, indicating that the cat isn't properly using it's heavy metals to allow for a full redox reactions of the bad stuff coming out of the engine. After you clear up the P1114/P1118, if you set a P0420 fault, toss that elbow on the DS O2 sensor.
    Both door lock actuators being bad would be strange, not that the shape of that car was normal when you got him. There's not a specific fuse for the locking motors in the latches, both are supplied by the Central Locking/Convenience Module. Do the doors lock/unlock electrically with the interior button? If not, it is probably going to be a power supply to that module, check fuse 37 and 38 on the LH dash before going any deeper at least.
    Now that you're well versed and comfortable with Nefmoto, let's nerd out a little more and pull your Cluster's EEProm dump to see if someone previously linearized your temp gauge. You'll need different software, I use VAG EEPROM Programmer, and a $15 KKL cable to get it. Or, you can accept that your gauge is now more linear than factory(maybe, checking and doing it properly might be worth it) which for adding power is a good thing, gauge reading on center from 80-110*C isn't that great of an indicator when you're asking for more than stock out of that engine.
    Crazy that just removing that defouler caused random misfires... crap, I don't know how to make a winky face thing here! Thanks for another great video!

Even though I have NO clue as to what you are explaining. (was 25 year old before I learned how to start my car). GO AIR FORCE!

    I didnt follow this entire build.
    Do you think that you will need a new better clutch/plate/flywheel to handle the extra torque from the tune?
    I know on other manual cars, you usually will burn out the original clutch. Just curious.

    Came across your vids - well done! Question for someone with basically a stock 2000 TT, aside from the Draft 42 CAI - what would recommend for the car to “spice it up” as you say... love your car’s sound too - care to share what you’ve done to it? Thanks! - JB

    Aww, that’s too easy to change your O2 sensor. The real challenge is doing one on a TT or A4 with the 3.0 V6!

    Nice work, enjoy the videos. My two cents would be check the fuses for the lower O2 sensor heater or the wiring cause that's what the codes kind of indicate and with the aftermarket CAT I would add the spacer on that sensor too, hope that helps.

    Delete the n249 valve, and run the diverter valve directly to manifold pressure. Resistor off the circuit at the plug with a 330 ohm 15 watt resistor. Nobody who’s serious with 1.8ts leaves that in the loop
