That's sad the first time I've been to Kings Dominion was a three weeks ago I can now only hear from my mom that it was my brothers favorite roller coaster I've missed out

King Cobra was the only Togo stand-up coaster I have ridden (I think it might be the only Togo coaster I've ever been on). I remember the bicycle seats, the wonky restraints, and the novelty of a stand-up coaster. Times have changed in 30+ years.
Update: The coaster has finally closed and was demolished.
It’s nice how some of the track is surrounded by trees.
The ride operators were always so funny though they'd call it *the almighty shockwave* in a dramatic voice

I remember when the Shockwave came to Valleyfair. I tensed up on the loop and ended up straining my back. I found the entire ride rather harsh. I can see why they're getting rid of it.
We need this ride back
Boy, I sure can't wait to go on this again in the summer of 2019!! I think I'll go on this first and then head over to ride Volcano, my favorite coaster at KD! ...Then I figure I'll get in line for the Hurler before taking on Hypersonic before I eat lunch at the 'good' pizza place. Finally, I think I'll wrap up the evening with a ride on King Cobra before I scream for my life in the dark on the Haunted River! .....I can't wait!! The anticipation is killing me!! 🎢

I hate that they took a roller coaster down to replace it with a ride instead. It should at least be replaced with another roller coaster.

+CoasterCrab Well that's not why the coaster shutdown. The reason why the coaster shutdown was that the coaster was getting old. 2 the coaster had many complaints about that it was a painful ride. And 3 I could have been involved with the 1999 death when A man fell out of the car and fell to his death. The reason why the coaster was kept for so long was because it was a huge part of the park and company's history. But with all the head smashing and bumping is what really made them closed down this coaster.
the guy that died brought a tool with him on the ride and released his restraints. no one knows what he was trying to do, but it (that one case) wasnt the ride's (or the parks) fault.
Stand up coasters are dying because no one knows what "stand up straight" means.

RIP that one 20-year-old dude who had his head smashed on the metal walkway which caused his brain to splatter all over on the final turn because of how reliable this ride was and how great the operators worked that day of 1999.
If you research this, the guy was intentionally trying to free himself from the harness when this happened.
I missed this ride! It felt like my insides were being pulled out as we went down that hill. It wasn’t a tall hill but it was steep! Those were some good times. 😂😂😂😂

My best friend peed on herself on that ride and she was crying her tail off. I just about died laughing at her. I didn't get on it.
This is the scariest coaster I have ever been on! But it was amazing!

I miss this ride, it didn’t Deserve the hatred it got, it’s sad the park chose this over anaconda to scrap, it was Unique and very forceful, and it even had two pops of airtime, sometimes I wish they had given it sit down trains even over trashing it, I will Always miss this classic.
This ride beat the shit out of me, and not in a good way. It's basically a stand up wooden coaster. That's how poorly build it is.

A shorter rider of a shockwave coaster once told me that they got sick from their head bouncing back and forth between the bars.
Epic. Canada's Wonderland in Canada had the same one (they called it Skyrider) up until a few years ago. Miss it dearly

He's lying. Do you seriously think that she would be there and there wouldn't be a huge crowd of people screaming at the top of their lungs around her? It's the music the park plays so people on the ground can listen.

I remember the first time I rode this thing, and the massive nutcheck it gave you at the end.
Togo made a lot of the coasters in Japan, about 50 out of the 60 they produced. There's one in Kuwait, one at in Canada and a few in the US. There was one in China but it's since been closed along with 30 others mostly in Japan and a few in the US.
They call em Togo Death Machines for a reason!
They should pay you to ride Togo's
I was terrified to ride this ride as a child and my mom got upset at me for not wanting to ride it and I’m honestly glad I didn’t because of how painful everyone says it was
Oh, so this is what the shockwave used to be. I had this kinda disappointing old looking blue one. This one looks so cool and scary!
I rode this on Monday and I love the ending. There's loads of airtime in the end.

It's a ride made by Togo, or as I like to say, The Japan equivalent of Arrow Dynamics or Vekoma. They made rough coasters. I can't really think of a good one they made (Fujiyama may be the only exception, but even that one's pretty rough).
Yes. Big time. I hate this ride. It's very jerky that it ruined the whole ride for me! Take it out and put a B&M invert in its place!

This was my first-ever coaster with inversions. I rode it in the spring of 1994. At that time, it was black with yellow trim. I much prefer that color scheme to this repaint.

You know, I actually kind of wished they didn't take this down. Sure it was painful as all hell, but it really was a different experience.
I rode this a few times.. for it to be a relatively short roller coaster that lift hill takes FOREVER.

Seems like Kings Dominion is good with taking out coasters and not replacing them. I went there for the first time in 2019 and it felt like it was missing something
Rode it many times. Rough but a good coaster.
Even though Shockwave was a rough ride, I’m glad I was able to get on it the season before it was tore down.
I wish they just kept this and made it a TOGO Sit-down but that would never happen :(

I've ridden Delirium and Berserker, I would say Delirium is far more intense than Berserker. It doesn't have wheels at the bottom which I believe is used to slow Berserker down. +Paris WantsToHaveFun

that Mondial Revolution Delirium is way better than Shockwave once was
+Carlos Vera yeah it did go away after some time which was when I was about to go on my last ride before I leave the park. So yeah about 4-5 hours
This one of the slowest lift hills I've ever been on. Damn thing was only 95ft and took almost a minute to get up the hill
I miss this ride wish I would have known they was going to take it down sooner cause I would have gotten my last ride.

nah great pumpkin is better! it's so scary! I cry everytime, but I don't know why people scream on those kiddie coasters like Dominator and Intimidator 305. Those I fall asleep on
BetterSkatez / DepecheModeFan1999 [IV] OH MY GOD! YEAH! ITS SOOO JERKY! I don’t know how people enjoy it, the drop is really INTENSE, and if you are scared of heights, I recommend that you don’t go on this ride.

There isn't enough room for a flying coaster as big as tatsu, but I'd love to see a B&M hit this place again someday, Dominator is so much fun. They could get a small B&M invert like Batman: The Ride. That would fit really well if they cut down a few trees.

Togo's are known for their slow lifts and herky jerky turns and drops.
I've ridden only one Togo, and it was this one. NEVER AGAIN >.

Howling Burd19 definitely slow but the slowest lift is The Beast at kings island. It is more than half the ride time. (If you watch the video for that, most of them speed up the play back on that part)
Someone died recently on this, that's why they got rid of it at the one in my state

This was the ride that made me always decide I'd rather go the extra half hour or so to Busch Gardens than KD, and I haven't been hack to KD since. I've heard it's better now, but I still love the atmosphere at BG.
Well Shockwave has been gone for a few years now. There is a Mondial Revolution frisbee ride called Delirium in its place. . . which is actually way more fun! KD also took out Volcano 😢 and RMC'd Hurler into Twisted Timbers.
@@sharpproductions yes, I knew they had gotten rid of it a ways back. Getting rid of Volcano was another reason why it wasn't worth going anymore since in my eyes it was the best ride there aside from Flight of Fear.

Look at the beginning: a fairly odd coaster height restriction: Straddle seat with both feet on floor to be tall enough to ride.
It has an actual, posted height restriction in inches as well.
