  • diymattress.net shows another Pillowtop mattress that has broken down into big dips with this one being a Queen size Serta I-Series Hybrid Bradbury model that's only 3 years old. Works on all sizes including King. Watch as we disassemble the mattress taking out failed layer after failed layer.

    I love how people complain about this video being too long, trying to make money etc. 😒 if it weren't for this video, I would have just spent another $3,000 on a new mattress. My black diamond, hybrid crappy $3,000 mattress I have had less then 3 years. Thanks Sleepys 😒 thanks to THIS video. I can fix myself, get this company to make a cover and I'm still a good $2,000 😌 ahead of the game. Thank you gentleman 😊

    I have this mattress and and like many here, I found myself waking up sore from sleeping in the “dip”. My family thought I was crazy but after watching this video I decided to rip the seam off my pillow top as suggested. Like in the video, I removed all the unnecessary layers and topped it with one Dunlop and one Talalay topper. BEST THING I'VE EVER DONE. My refurbished mattress is awesome. I also ordered my Talalay topper from these guys. I did do substantial research tho on the best toppers for my sleeping habits. Good luck!

    Totally went this route. I took apart an expensive mattress tossing the encasement and cheap 2” foam. Kept the box spring and added a 3” talalay latex topper. Bought the Arizona premium encasement and now have such a comfortable mattress. The original was a 2 1/2 year old replacement that sagged with another one that sagged.

    OMG, I'm putting up with a very expensive Serta I series Ceremony SPT Hybrid. It's about 4 years old, and really not at all a good mattress and yes, did I say "very expensive"? I plan to do the same thing you're doing to recoup some of my money. Thanks so much for showing how to do this. Question: how do you put it all back together? Stitch it?

    We bought a CA. king mattress from Ken a year ago. Got an 8" pocket coil, 3" tallalay medium base and 2" tallaly medium soft topper with 13" zippered cover. You want the zipper to be at the top if you need to open the mattress up for any reason. The zipper and cover are very heavy duty, the zipper is not going to fail or get in the way. Its on the side. Best mattress we have ever bought. Wish I had known about this years ago. Thanks to Ken and you tube.

    I can tell you as someone that has had one of these Serta mattresses that they are not a good mattress. Within the first year that we owned it we started noticing a depression on both sides of the mattress leaving a high spot in the middle. It has gotten worse and worse over the past 5 years. It was a comfortable mattress in the first year. Now it is not comfortable on either side and my wife and I have to climb over the mountain in the middle to get to each other. Please know that I weigh 185 and my wife weighs 120 so it is not because we are overweight. I am now about to purchase a new mattress after just 5 years because I would like to be next to my wife without climbing. I would not recommend a Serta mattress to anyone. When your in the stores trying out a new Serta mattress they seem great when they are new. Unfortunately, that is not the case for very long after you start using it. Am I angry about it? No, more disappointed in what I thought was a good name mattress.

      Isn't it amazing, @Joe LoPinto, what a racket it is? I have a Sealy that's less than ONE year old, and it has dips in it that are so deep my cat climbs into them to sleep, like she's in a pet bed! I rotated the mattress, so now I have one in opposing corners where I slept. But they're just "aesthetic body impressions," according to all the mattress stores, so I know better than to pursue a warranty claim. I already have a latex topper from my last two lumpy mattresses. I'm going to do mattress surgery this week and use the topper on the coils. Hopefully, my back pain will stop. Thank you, @Ken Hightower!

I'm getting wonderful sleep and my back pain has gone away. It was so good that my wife and I bought a second queen topper for our guest room. Buy a double sided mattress, flip it, rotate it frequently. You will get 10X the life out of the mattress.
    If someone is trying to sell you a mattress they claim you don’t have to flip, go find one that does. I assure you, there’s a company out there that has the exact mattress your looking at that’s double sided, just a different name. Sleeping in the same spot 8 hours at a time, night after night, Will prematurely wear out the inner contents of your bed. Time and pressure will do that, no getting around it.
    Find a 10,000 year old hard, jagged rock, throw it into a river. Come back in a few years and see if the running water has begun smoothing it out. Time and pressure will do it.
    If you can’t flip and rotate a mattress, don’t buy it.

    • @granjmy
      @granjmy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And if your one sided no-flip pillowtop mattress is sagging, buy a Walmart camping foam pad, or fold up a blanket. Determine where the sag is, and place the pad or blanket under the mattress at that place. You'll notice an immediate change in the mattress comfort level. If you put it too thick, the mattress will sort of arch upward. Just decrease the thickness of the folded pad and try it again.
      You can restore your mattress comfort for several years longer, while you save up for Ken Hightower's system.

      It doesn’t fix the mattress from sagging because the foam wears down so fast. Best to buy a extra firm mattress with no pillow top and put a topper on, the topper can be more easily replaced when it wears out vs the entire mattress. I would never buy a serta or a pillow top again. But I know someone with a firm pillow top beautyrest and their mattress is comfy 4-5 years later, just takes eons to break in to not be too hard either.

That blue foam should be right up at the top but is instead buried and useless.

    with latex allergies so prevalent, why recommend latex foam?

    • @KenHightower
      @KenHightower  ปีที่แล้ว

      The protein in rubber can cause an allergic reaction in some people. The thin, stretchy latex rubber in gloves, condoms and balloons is high in this protein. It causes more allergic reactions than products made of hard rubber (like tires). Also, because some latex gloves are coated with cornstarch powder, the latex protein particles stick to the cornstarch and fly into the air when the gloves are taken off. In places where gloves are being put on and removed frequently, the air may contain many latex particles. These items are all produced using the "cold-dipped" method.
      Why Latex Mattresses Don't Produce Symptoms
      Non-skin contact products, such as latex foam mattresses and pillows, that may contain some natural rubber latex, undergo a five-stage washing process which removes reaction-causing proteins while enhancing the over quality of the product. The openness of latex foam cells, allows for thorough washing. In addition, latex mattresses, toppers and pillows are manufactured by super heating the mold which vulcanizes the latex inside. These proteins cannot survive the high heat.
      Complaints for allergic reactions to natural rubber latex are monitored by the FDA. To our knowledge, there has never been a single complaint over our more than 28 years of experience stemming from the natural rubber found in our mattresses and pillows. Our products have been tested by outside facilities and are shown to be inherently hypoallergenic for sufferers of mold, mildew or bacterial allergies. In addition, our latex mattress and pillows are resistant to dust mites and are naturally resistant to mold and mildew which are contributors to asthma and pulmonary function allergies.
      The bottom line is that a latex mattress does not cause allergies

      It happened because a lot of companies take the cheap, quick way in manufacturing by only gluing down the outside edge of the foam which leaves the center of the mattress open to shifting around. And if they do glue the center, it’s usually with a glue with a slow setup time. They do this on an assembly line (big manufacturers). So, they glue it, then stand it up on a rail system to go down the line to be finished later. It standing at a slight angle to keep it from falling. Now it’s slightly bowed, so center of mattress won’t really stay in place while glue sets up. Prop a mattress up on your wall at a slight angle and you’ll see the deflection I mean.
      Local manufacturers generally do a better job of construction by spending a little more time on a product, rather than mass production on assembly lines from large companies

We knew our new sealy mattress was nothing high end, but the dip that has developed in the pillow top is totally outrageous. The way the companies paint the foams blue to look like "gel" smells a lot like the tricks China is using with painting their vegetation and livestock 😂

      Extra firm flat mattress with a 3” topper, then replace the topper when it wears out. Cheaper mattress, some have them over 10 years this way and more adjustment when you can pick different types of toppers to suit. But for my hips, need a bit thicker but still higher density for support in the topper. Cheaper to replace a topper than a bed and I’m disabled so this seems a lot of work.

    Please offer suggestions other than latex as I am seriously allergic to latex.

    • @KenHightower
      @KenHightower  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The bottom line is that a latex mattress does not cause allergies. If you'd like to learn more about our products, from twin to king mattresses and beyond, just shop our online store. We are also always happy to answer questions at 1-888-77DREAM.

    At end of the day though what is blowing my mind is that if you're in the business of taking mattresses apart and putting them back together with some newer materials, that means that essentially your customers are getting used mattresses... and let me guess is that you will then sell that mattress for several hundred to $1,000 that you essentially got as trash, ruined the structural integrity, put some latex on it and you might have paid maybe 50 bucks in both the man hours and the materials? Which means that you bad mouth the big manufacturers but at least they have integrity. You on the other hand, are like those used car shysters that will roll back the mileage and sell it... shady

      Jill Beaudoin it is NOT illegal to sell used mattresses. In some states it may be but I worked in the industry for 15+ years and most states just require it to be tagged with a yellow tag that is given by the state (when the license is bought) that says they are authorized to sell used materials and the bed was sprayed with a cleaner. Reconditioned mattresses is a very real and big industry.

      Believe or not Bmore, you will be surprised how fast they are making these mattresses, coil on machine, some top comfort layers glued, then fit them in the mattress cover and that's it, they took you £1k for probably 20 min of building. No such structure integrity there, mattresses do stay in place due to them spings fitted togethere and cover that keeps everything in place. THE END
