This card is EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD for transforming an old computer into a AV1 transcoding BEHEMOTH. Being able to render frames that make games playable is a mere "plus" to this card. I sincerely request you make a video demonstrating Intel QSV AV1 using handbrake on some 4K 10bit video...
I agree.
This. A lot of people are using these and the 350 in plex/jellyfin servers and they are great for that.
THIS PLEASE
It's great Intel made these!
I want this one for AV1 transcoding 100%.
I hope Intel keeps making graphics cards. They are going through a major transformation as a company.
Haha, they realized they couldn't really compete anymore with their CPUs rn, so they try to make another income. Competition is awesome
Well Intel currently makes more on AI data servers than CPU or GPU manufacturing. But got the gist of it...
Same here. I'm currently on a i9/3070Ti combo but when I build a desktop again I want to go all Intel for every component if possible. And it not perform like a joke.
@@Gamerloaders Actually their AI accelerated datacenter products comprise well under half their earnings compared to their client computing segment, you can find such information in their Q1 earnings report. Also, their data center product earnings also include their Xeon lineups which are still leveraged heavily in datacenters. They include so many products under the same umbrella deliberately to make it harder for people to know how successful or unsuccessful any one product is, but it's certain that AI is not Intel's most successful industry by a long shot.
AI is the next big thing and you need GPU's for it. That's probably the main reason why they're in the market
My favorite ETA Prime video was when he bought an Arc 310 & 380 and swapped the coolers to make a single-slot, low-profile A380
And then put it in a mini pc
that video honestly sucks and shame on him for not pointing out he had to dismantle the entire card to use the included low profile bracket. It also "Voids" your warranty so good luck with that rma claim if it ever dies. (they added a warranty void if remove sticker you 100% have to take off)
@@skylarhasmail666 just so you know, those "warranty void if removed" stickers are unenforceable in the US and EU, I don't know about elsewhere in the world
@@Collin_J doesn't mean they should be doing it, and your overlooking the bigger annoyance instead of 1 external screw like 99% of gpu's they put that single screw under everything else if u want to switch the bracket which means u have to "void" the warranty potentially before u can even test it. Higher chance of the seller claiming u broke it and denying the refund
Yeah one that overheats and preforms like shit in the longrun.
Awesome to see you dipping back into the Intel Arc cards :-)
I really like them :)
@@RandomGaminginHDI'm just hoping that the added competition leads to better value.
nice profile pic!
@@FunkyM217i mean now is already the best value u can get from a graphic card...on maybe out of all years lol
Stuff are cheap as hell rn minus the high end RTX...of coz
I was gonna get one of these for AV1 encoding, but ended up throwing 100€ more at it to get an A580 because a card that could theoretically run 2024 games pretty well is a more fun prospect. Fantastic Linux desktop experience and no issues getting the video codec going in OBS/mpv.
Yes, Intel works closely with the Linux kernel so it's no surprise that it'd work well.
I have an A580, it runs great on Linux for gaming
Can't wait to see how it does in the Potato. That Pentium Gold will have met its match.
Haha probably a pretty good pairing
@RandomGaminginHD I'm curious, everything I can find puts the RX 6300 about 30-40% faster than the A310.
@@drewnewby I do think the Intel cpu does a lot of lifting here... It might be a whole different thing with a low end AMD chip.
I feel like this gpu would be a lot more appealing if it wasn't for the Resizable Bar requirement, seems like the perfect card to upgrade an old office pc or something like that.
on god, my honest to god gaming rig uses a 10400f it doesn't have it
@@raptorjeezus2607 You might actually have it. Re-bar is simple thing, and you can get it by just updating BIOS on your mobo or some other funny buisness if board is old and is not supported anymore (but its like really old stuff, cause even 2018 boards are still somewhat supported).
Also the x8 pci lanes on old 2500k type running at gen 2 would be a severe bottleneck as well.
@@raptorjeezus2607 a 10400's motherboard shouuld support ReBar, I recently was using a 9600k and I just had to update my motherboards BIOS to enable ReBar via the motherboards website.
@@raptorjeezus2607 10th gen Mobos should support it, check your BIOS settings again!
I have a disc drive too. You never know when one can come in handy.
Same. I have a Blu-ray drive in mine, it allows me to watch movies and I can emulate ps1 ps2 ps3 while being able to use my legitimate games.
I have it too, had to get it for riping songs from my cd-s because my car stereo didn't have cd player

We might be getting to a point where you can play GTA V on a calculator at 1080p high
but only if it's a quad core calculator :D
Take a snapgragon 8 gen 2, it could most certainly already run it at pretty high settings, hardware compatibility aside. We're just getting to the point of running Windows games on ARM SOCs through Box64, so give it 3-4 years before we start seeing random stuff play GTA 5
@@someonesomewhere8658yeah, adreno 740 gpu is already way faster than nintendo switch gpu(about 4 times faster according to 3dmark) and even switch can run witcher 3 and doom.
@@HappyBeezerStudios what is a calculator ? What shops use, need a reseat ?
My PC still sports a DVD burner though I rarely use it. And then mostly for ripping audio CDs. Yes, I'm old-fashioned that way - I like to _own_ music and use it offline.
Me too..
I have a physical PC games collection spanning back 30 year's so it just feels right having an optical drive
🙂 some of my PCs i build using a Case with a DVD Drive just to make it look more old school
Been looking for a review on this card for a while. So glad to finally have one. Keep up the good work!
Thanks!
Love those intel ARC graphics cards, they are really good, much better than what most realize.
They are if you never run into issues but unfortunately if you play many games chances are you will. AMD cards offer similar performance at similar prices and are much more consistent.
great if you do the right tasks. horrible if you do other tasks.
AV1 encoding and DX12 games? pretty sweet.
DX9 performance? still pretty bad
It’s nice to see another video
i can't remember when i subscribed to you, but it was fairly early
500k subs later, proud of you dude!
i have a 6900XT and i still enjoy watching your videos. i have no idea why.
Nice, wait for the PS5 Pro vs a $1000 PC video.
I think its cuz Money can buy frames for sure, but he is showing how much frames you can push without throwing huge amounts of money on big players in the chip industry
because its fun seeing performance and cards! bad or good it doesnt matter
As do I, but it's actually more fun for me to see how far I can push lower end cards or laptops. Most are more capable than people realize.
How is the 6900XT? I want to upgrade from a GTX 1060 6GB.
nice vid as always!
Looking forward to the comparisons for this card!
0:45 moments like these makes me appreciate this channel more and more
😁
yeah dude that bit had me rolling
oh wow i was just looking at these and was struggling to find up to date benchmarks. was planning to stick it in a HTPC that also might be used for light gaming. what a coincidence one of my favorite tech youtubers posted a video about it right as i was lookin lol
the "who even has a disk drive?" gag made me laugh harder than it should have. my computer technically has one, but it's not plugged in because i decided to steal the sata connector for something else :V
Yeh mine isn’t plugged in either!
same
I had to look around and found 5 drives that are plugged in and ready to eat, and another one on the shelf that doesn't have a computer to go int.
But that's not a disk drive? That's one of those new-fangled optical disc drives. Deevee-something-or-other. It's too modern and haughty to read proper diskettes.
I'm a happy 3060Ti owner and it warms my heart to see Intel GPUs getting some love. I want Intel to succeed in making GPUs. NGreedia needs to be taken down a peg. They got super cocky with the 40 series. Please do more Intel ARC cards whenever possible. If XeSS and drivers keep getting updated, ARC cards will have incredible value.
i start using it about 3-4 months ago to play uncharted 4 because i have an old i54460 pc. my previus card was a 750 ti. i dont have much money so i bought an arc a380. the evolutuion of the drivers in these 3 months was unbelievable. i started play the game and with every new driver the performance was getting better and better. now i play the game for the second time and it feels like i have a much more powerful card than the one i bought. really great job from intel.
NGreedia 😂👏👏👏
try old gpus with the dlss 3 frame gen mod, would be an interesting video to make. Great video as always!
It might be worth revisiting the whole Xe lineup of GPUs after Intel releases the new driver architecture. It's currently in beta on Linux, but I don't think you can try it out for Windows. It's meant for Xe2 (Battlemage) cards but it'll also apply to older cards after a while.
Been wondering about this card for some time. All tests were only for the 380. Nice to see it getting tested.
Awesome vid
Going from fallout 4 and witcher 3 to starfield, the graphics DID NOT appear to improve, yet the performance was slashed by 75%. Unbelievable.
Pretty sure we can get them to all have the same performance with vast differences in quality. Just imagine playing with below low textures.
Bethesda will not be missed.
the shirt tug gag was great 🤣
Nice to see the driver support. Do these ARC cards like to be overclocked?
out of interest did you edit this video using the Arc card as saw at least 3 media offline davinci messages flash up. love watching your videos btw.
You returned with the budget vids!?
Great video! I almost bought an A310 ECO for one of my systems recently, but decided against it (already have a few gaming systems much more powerful, and the computer in question isn't a gaming system). Now I kick myself, because your video lit that fire for me again, but they are out of stock. I am sure when the are back in stock, I will splurge and get one.
Why do you have several computers?
don't buy an a310, get the a380 its way better for like $10 more, buying 4GB cards contributes to eWaste which sucks
got this card on an amazon sale, and use it as a secondary gpu for av1 encoding together with my 3070. never been happier.
At that price it would be interesting to compare to used gpu of same price. New vs old peace of mind! Thanks for reviewing 🐈👍
The A310 Elf goes for 110 € over here right now.
"Who even has a disc drive these days?" I have 2 Blu-ray drives, one of which is a burner. Great for archiving large amounts of data on media that can't be encrypted by ransomware. Plus I can fill the disc with MP4 files and pop it in my Blu-ray player.
i wanna invest in the closer future on one of those bad boys, i have a couple of questions for ya:
-what are you recommendations in terms of hardware?
-What do you think of external burner/writers and do they have any difference in terms of performance?
@itsdokko2990 Internal drives are almost always faster than external drives, and based on personal experience and what I've read online, don't buy an LG drive. I've had 2 LG external burners, and they have both failed. Just ordered a 5.25" Pioneer drive with an external enclosure.
I have a Pioneer SATA Blu-ray drive, and it is awesome. Much more reliable for data transfer than USB 3.0 drives. Definitely recommend it.
You’re probably on the exception side rather than the rule. I also think it’s useful to have a physical disc drive or two but it seems we’re in the minority when it comes to general PC manufacturing in 2024.
Lmao sure, enjoy having slow read and write speeds with big form factor, I prefer small, super fast flash drives. I hope PS6 will ditch blu ray and use flash drives instead.
It's a very handy little GPU for encoding and decoding due to AV1 and VP9, one of the biggest reasons why I love it. As far as I know, it's the cheapest card with the new encoder.
At this point, just get a GTX 1080Ti
When you were talking about considering enabling FSR, you should instead use XeSS over FSR 2. I haven't tried FSR 3, but XeSS looks a lot better than FSR 2 and they perform identically in terms of framerate.
Yep Xess looks way better then FSR, even on my old Rx 570
Bought this card for my older dying pc to keep it running. It works flawless so far - I love how its only 75w!
Excellent card for transcoding duty with jellyfin or plex in a server... there's even a low profile single slot version of the A310 (also from sparkle)
Disc drive user representing for the algorithm!
Sparkle? That takes me back! Not seen that brand in years
You should look around on deals on the A380. Here in the USA there seem to be some 3rd party sellers on Amazon who are selling parted out A380 from pre-built computers such as HP for the same price as a brand new A310 GPU, which is $100. These A380 cards appear to only have Intel branding on them and maybe a sticker from the pre-built computer like HP. Seems like a great deal for those who want the card for some gaming and mainly production use.
A retest of the A380 would be interesting with the latest drivers.
Be alright for watching vids and streaming .
not everyone plays games , so it could be just the job .Great vid .
I got an Arc a380 for my little emulation pc. It works great for that purpose! Playing midnight club 3 right now
Got one of these for a Dell Optiplex 5060. No complaints.
It would be interesting to compare the A310 with recent cards without power connector.
not sure which office pcs can support resizeable bar but that's where one of these will shine, especially a LP version
Or xmp
I doubt any office machine will do anything where reBAR will make a difference.
I like to recommend the fps benchmark workshop map for cs2. Just to have some consistency in the benchmark... for better comparison
I purchased the asrock low-profile version of this card and just through it into my plex server, and love it.
I got one of these for my jellyfin media server as a transcoding card and my god does it slay at that without even needing me to upgrade the PSU in my 4u logysis chassis.
Also should mention im not even getting all this card has to offer out of it since my media server is built with relatively ancient hardware without resizable bar support and pcie gen 2 (my media server is a AMD FX system from over a decade ago)
I got the low profile version ARC Eco A310 just for the AV1 encoder in a OptiPlex 7060 Small Form Factor. It's a bit loud but works great for my needs, Halo Infinite it struggles at low settings.
I recently got a low profile arc 380 for a 12 year old Ivy Bridge computer I had lying around and I wanted to use primarily as an emulator machine in the living room, the card costed me about 150 bucks. I went and installed Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 for the lulz to see if it could even run those and I got impressed they not only run well but at a very good framerate at mid settings.
Sick
Been thinking I may lean to an Intel Arc A770 in my next GPU upgrade.
I can see an Intel card in my future. I'm waiting on the second gen being released though.
Im one of those who has a disk drive still. Very useful if tinkering with old early 2000's hardware
Can you test it on one of your older systems without Gen4 or REBAR support? The price point for these cards puts them in a category to be a good choice to upgrade older PC's like old Optiplex or older parts you have laying around. The issue is that while the price puts them in that 'revitalize old parts' category, they require features that older hardware won't support like PCI Generation or Resizable Bar. It would be nice to know how this would perform in an older system like a 4th Gen or even older.
Great video as always.
😊 avoid at all costs, it runs really bad and really slow, feels like a ddr3 or ddr4 vram card, dont do it
@@MrSamadolfo thanks for the tip.. I actually wasn't going to, for $100 USD I can get something better on the used market. I appreciate the feedback though, thank you!
@@darthllama1 Your Welcome =D
Prise wise, the A310 competes with the GT 1030 and RX 550
The A380 with the GT 1030 and RX 6400
The A580 with the RTX 3050 and RX 6500 XT
The A750 with the RX 3050, 2060 and RX 6650 XT
And the A770 with the RTX 3060, 4060 and RTX 7600 XT
And that is just for new cards, used options are obviously available.
@@HappyBeezerStudios 😊 have you noticed that we secretly now have a 6500 XT 8GB that nobody is talking about
I didnt think you'd remind me how disc drives are basically dead, except in cases of preserving media. Its almost nostalgic 😅
Processor 300 + Intel a310 video? Would be interesting!
i have one too. very usefull even today. i use it to make hard copies of photos to DVD for backup purposes. if i upload to the cloud it would probably float away!
I feel like a used 1060 or even 970 would be a far better buy for gaming and cheaper as I'm sure you'd agree.. power consuption could be a factor, thanks for another inticing video
Yeah, comes a bit down to what you want to play on them. Looks like the A750 gives pretty good results for the price, but only if you focus on recent games and put it onto a recent platform.
The A310 is basically for when you want AV1 hardware encoding on your Ryzen 3600
What you don't want to use it for:
- playing older games (the card basically does only DX12 and Vulkan natively and everything older needs to be translated)
- put it in older systems (the requirement for reBAR and only 4 PCIe lanes hurt performance)
- use it as cheap display adapter (better, cheaper, less power hungry GPUs are available)
- replace your slightly older midrage card (which would already have similar performance anyway)
Power consumption, it's also a new card with new driver support, low profile, no cable. Not having to stress about getting scammed or a card that works for 2 months and dies. Great card to stick in a work PC and enjoy some light gaming.
Also I'd say it's a huge mistake to buy a 1060 or a 970 nowadays. With how cheap new GPUs are, like the RX 6600 goes for $180-200 brand new. For more than double the performance of a 1060.
@@HappyBeezerStudios I play older games all the time on the ARC and have no problems at all. The now build-in DXVK translation works and performs well and, as said in the video, the drivers have come a long way since the ugly early days and saw massive improvements.
I think its pretty good looking too
0:51 i do since my pc is from 2010
and i do burn windows discs every now and then for computers that don't support usb booting
I just installed command and conquer the first decade
Through my blu ray drive last week
I actually really like those old pc brands like powercolor colorful and sparkle.
Can you make a follow up video? Pair the gpu with an old cpu and play multiplayer esports/casual games like valo, dota, lol, genshin etc.
Old cpu would be a poor pair because older motherboards do not support resizeable bar, which would severely handicap any arc gpu
@@trailduster6btyeah it really is a shame, this card would be the perfect old pc upgrade
@@trailduster6bt They CAN support re-bar, its a simple thing that can work even on complete, oldest potato you can find (as long as it is actually x86/64 cpu). But who is gonna give them that support? Certainly not the people who made the thing.
@@Informatic1 very unfortunate. All these small form factor office pcs and no good low profile budget gpus. Both the arc cards and the RX 6400 are useless in most of these pcs. The cheapest no strings attached low profile gpu is the rtx 3050 6gb. But after spending $170 on a gpu, you’ll probably have spent enough to put together a custom pc with a cheaper and more powerful used gpu like a gtx 1080 or rx 5700xt.
@@trailduster6bt I am aware, but it's a low tier card. I just want to know if an old i5/i7 can push it to its limit even without rebar, and if the fps is stable enough to game on.
I've been looking for the Eco version of this but they seem to have all disappeared in the UK.
I'm looking to buy one of these to pair with a g6400 as an emulation machine. I had the g6400 paired with a 1650 in my last emulation pc and this would be a great cheap new alternative and a chance to try out the arc GPUs
should be ok, make sure u turn on rebar / 4g
7:14 Davinci Resolve sends its regards
😂
This card maybe useful in PC troubleshooting since it doesn't tax the PSU much or you may not have the PCIE cables ( modular PSUs need their original cables to work safely )
Do you have Strange Brigade? I wonder how Arc cards scale in vulkan explicit mgpu if you can put this with the A380 you have.
What is with lowering anisotropic filter from x16, are this become problem for any newer card somehow.
Keep watching the progress of Intel Arc with interest, I really think they're becoming a true competitor for NVIDIA and AMD.
They have the potential. Just that many pc user not interested with them unless intel sell them at a loss.
I'm gonna need that in a single slot config.
The disc drive face LOL
What is that FOV on Fallout 4? I've never seen it that zoomed out before.
I might be misunderstanding something; I thought "Minimum framerate" was the lowest framerate hit during the benchmark run, and the 1% and 0.1% rates were averaging that percentage of lowest values to show a "consistent" low range and eliminate a dramatic dip outlier. All of these "Minimums" are higher than the 1% and 0.1% averages.
Nice front flip
0:54 I do. And still works like a charm when I need it. Like installing gta5 offline, if for whatever reason I would loose connectivity. Haha.
I am actually super impressed at what you get for that kind of money! Personally, I only build what one could call very high-end computers, but watching these movies really points to that these high-end computers are a bit of waste. I mean, you can enjoy Witcher 3 on this card!
I am using 1 of these as a display adapter. Works fine for putting Win11 onscreen.
Arc A380 is usually barely more expensive and is considerably better but the 310 is perfect for transcoding use.
Yup, the A380 and A750 seem to be the best deal right now.
I'd say try this card in one of the older systems without resizable bar so we can see how it works with that limitation. I agree with the other people if the responsible bar isn't that high of a requirement this could be a great drop in upgrade for an old PC
this card runs like a 1030 DDR4 video card in an older computer, its not worth it for older pcs
@@MrSamadolfo that is just bad. Especially since you can get a GDDR5 GT 1030 for less money.
@@HappyBeezerStudios 😊 yup, if you have a Core2Quad or Athlon or FX AM2 AM3 avoid avoid LOL 😅

I love my DVD disc drive..
You should add No Man's Sky they're still updating the game and it still pushes modern cards pretty hard especially with the addition of multi-player
...so I this neither nVidia or Radeon graphics? Is this like some little proprietary card or Intel's integrated graphics on dedicated hardware?
Currently on Amazon you can find an a380 for the same price as the a310. If you're looking for a $110 (USD) Arc card, get the a380 instead. It's a tiny bit slower than a GTX 1650, but it has 2GB more Vram and consistent driver updates.
