i remember seeing this movie in theaters as a kid and it was so incredibly packed that we had to sit on the floor of the aisle. this was truly a culturally significant piece of film in 2004

This is by far the greatest movie based on a TV show ever. The epic story, iconic characters, and banger songs, are all just amazing. And I love the message that it's okay to let your inner kid out sometimes. This is how the franchise should have ended.

When I was a kid and I couldn't sleep at night, I'd play this movie in my head until I fell asleep. That's how many times i watched this movie, enough to perfectly visualize it in my brain until i fell unconscious lol
I loved this movie as a kid along with the first two seasons of Spongebob we had on DvD, I remember we used to quote this movie a lot back then too

I enjoy the Spongebob Movie! It’s one of the finest Nickelodeon films on the block. It makes me appreciate all the work that Stephen Hillenburg put into the series, leading up to the first film. May he rest in peace.

Rip Stephen Hillenburg gone to soon, he died on November 26 2018 from ALS he was 57 years old his birthday was on August 21 he would have been 62 this year
yeah Spongebob at its peak was more of an older (96-99) gen Z phenomenon i think. my parents have memories of watching it with me as a child in the early 00's and I remember going to the movies with my friends to see this too. It was a wonderful series to grow up with. I'm 26 so grew out of spongebob a long time ago but I cant deny the impact it had on my generations sense of humor/creativity.

"Damn" is one of those words that seems to toe the line hah. Catches you off guard for sure, but totally allowed! Like Maleficent saying "See for yourself all the powers of hell!"

I unfortunately did NOT see this in theaters, but I watched it over at my cousin's house on VHS repeatedly back in 2004. This is by far one of my favorite movies ever!! I know it's not like one of the " greatest" films like Casablanca but, it's still an incredibly nostalgic and wonderful movie!
This movie, the Jimmy Neutron movie, Lion King, Series of Unfortunate Events 2004, and the Incredibles were on constant repeat and I never grow tired of them even as a adult..
What's interesting is this movie is extremely funny when you watch it as an adult because Goofy Goober Song Patrick didn't make me laugh until many years later🤣
In general, the opening gets you so hype, the songs are awesome, the plot is great, the shell City scene is a damn tearjerker, and the goofy goober rock is incredible.
I could go on and on about how this movie is great, but it kinda defined a generation tbh. Watching it as an adult I still smile and laugh at everything even if I've seen it millions of times...
I watched SpongeBob till the mid 2010s and kinda stopped now because it's kinda nonsense. I don't wanna sound like a broken record but the pre movie episodes are by far one of the best things ever put in a animated/ TV show..

I literally *never* noticed crabs literally says "jackass" to Spongebob. Twice, no less! Certainly beats out whenever Squidward would make a donkey noise, or a picture of a mule would appear on screen lol.
This was my favorite movie as a child I grew up watching SpongeBob ever since I was 5. Truly tone of the best animated movie of its time.
I went to see this movie for my 8th birthday with my entire class! And I have to say, killing off Spongebob and Patrick was a GUTSY move!! Everybody in the audience lost their minds and cried. Not that I can blame them. Whether I was 8 then, or 26 now, it still gets me good. XD That third act with the Goofy Goober ROCK song was one of the most hype things I've ever seen!! Whole movie holds up!

This movie is basically the same plot as “The Odyssey”
I like to think this movie takes place after the entire series and every season after this movie is a prequel.
But then why does Mindy attend SpongeBob's party in the 20th and we once see some movie-related items in the Krusty Krab's 'lost and found'?
@@thepandorica1660 well we never really see Mindy interact with SpongeBob in the episode she could be at the party to learn his name and I don’t think the items in the lost and found episode are strong enough evidence.
That means Mindy is Patrick's future girlfriend or wife even better!😱

Delightful
Oh this one is delightful!! Finally a movie which one can enjoy without inhibition. Being an adult, I love this stuff. The innocence and ignorance... the humour.. the cheesiness, the enthusiasm. I wholeheartedly laugh my head off together with my teen son. Of course my husband thinks it's all humbug.
The bad guys are really really bad and still very funny. The so-called evil brain behind all, you almost would root for him and there are adorable, scenes which can bring tears to your eyes, especially when thinking of sea life being "harvested" by us humans, without any regard to respecting the critters down there. It actually has a bit of a message to the youngsters (and us) about our environment and what impact we have. All very light though.
For all the children and adults who have still a child-like look on life, I sincerely hope that the Spongebob team will continue making movies!

nearly choked on my food when you said it came out in 2004. I was 4 years old when I saw it at the cinema haha. Still remember it vividly and loving it so much! I was the biggest spongebob fan growing up. Man that must have been like the first movie I ever saw in the cinema, either that or Shrek 2 or King Kong.

I Really Loved this Movie. It was probably the first Time i saw Spongebob cause i didn't have Cable back then. It was a very Good Finale of the Series. I Actually Still Own the DVD of the Movie and it was the Only Item i Bought from Circuit City Before it Closed Down lol.
