I see that on your site the part is sold out… when will you be restocking? 😭😭
I had this same problem so I called Sony customer support about this yesterday and they claimed that this is "not a known issue" with this model. I hate it when people lie.
Yeah they told that cosmetic issues are not cover by the warranty lol
Same happened to me
It's seems like they don't care AT All about people. Just how much junk they can sell to us.
Just used after getting a new band from y'all. Great tutorial with great results. Now if only Sony would improve their hinges...
saving this video for when my headphones hinge bracket arrives. only the left ear is broken so i bought just the left side replacement for £37. will keep you updated on the process when it arrives
How did it goes? My left side is also broken where did you buy it from
@@yeminoo3035 i bought it from ali express my headphones are fixed now but the process was very tedious
@@yeminoo3035 Man, there's no way to replace just the left or right side of the hinge. You have to replace the whole headband because the wiring connector on both ends won't fit through the hole unless you cut the wire and re-solder all those tiny wires again... Order a whole headband.
Cheap Sony should be covering this with or past due warranty. How do you have a such a design flaw that you dont put metal thetr to keep it from snappin? 😢
Now I fully understood how Joe’s fixed my headphone head “sliding issue”. I knew it was so hard to disassemble headband to fix that issue and just simply replacing the entire assembly of top headband could be the only the way. Anyway thank you for your fixing and now my XM5 is performing excellently. I rather say this headband design by SONY was not so good. XM4 might be still better…?
got yalls band plus the tools and followed this and everything worked. Love yall
Thank you! With this tutorial I was able to replace mine! So helpful.
Woohoo 🥳 hopefully you bought the part from us also!
thanks for the tutorial. I managed to replace it successfully 💪
Awesome to hear!
Thanks. I’m just going to use insulating tape to hold mine together. Wish I’d kept my xm4. So much more robust.

Great video!
Welcome Sony to hifiman build quality.
Man! Airpod Max maybe expensive, but fixing its Headband is way easier than this.
Cheers bro. Easy fix. Back in action.
Whoop 🙌🏻
I did it, THANK YOU 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

This video is perfection! Everything was explained so easily. It helped me replace the headband on my Sony headphones. Sony XM5 was my 4th pair from Sony, and it will be the last. Sony has the worst built quality when it comes to headphones. They always ALWAYS break from the hinge. These headphones might have all the features and sh#t but terrible built quality.... Avoid sony.
Amen to this. I'm done with Sony headphones, which is sad because they have great sound quality, but what good is that combined with all the fatal design flaws?
Great vid! Is there a way to just replace the arm piece that broke? Instead of replacing the ehole headband and arm assembly?
Unfortunately not. The Whole main internal wire cant be removed from the headband assembly.
@@Joesge I have since found another video that has instructions on how to do it. But it's so complicated, it's not worth it
Very helpful video. Thanks for sharing man.

Hey Joe so I bought the headphone frames to replace from your website but ever since replacing it, when I turn on the headphones it has a constant static/fuzzy noise. Do you know it’s because I didn’t connect all the other components properly? Some say it’s the Bluetooth connector but I’m not sure. Thanks for the tutorial!
Please email us a video of the sound support@joesge.com
HI Joe. I went to your website and I do not see the headband replacement being listed. I have a broken swivel on my XM5 and need to replace my whole headband to repair. By any chance will you have it in stock?
We currently do not have them in stock quite yet! Soon
Hi, any idea how to find this main internal wire PCB connector (16-pin female) online? The one which is connecting the left to the right side. I broke it while removing the wires one by one.

Hello,
My headphones recently started having inner ear noises on one side while using noise canceling. For example when I ride the subway I hear a noise canceling boom every time the train bumps. Is this fixable? How easy is it?

how unfortunate, it's such a waste of material and money to swap out the whole headband as opposed to the xm4 requiring a simple plastic retainer for the swivel. :(
Yep, thanks so much Sony
Hi, are there any tips to try evade this problem? i’m gonna buy em in a few days and i want to be very careful with em. I remember i had the xm3 and used them to sleep and everything and i had no problems with those, but i’m not sure if the xm5 are durable enough to sleep with them on XD. Btw love ur videos❤
Also, should i get the insurance that amazon offers for 10 euros?
Sleeping with them on may not be the best idea but it depends on if you move around in your sleep. Laying on them sideways may cause issues. Getting the insurance wouldn't be a bad idea! We also sell the full replacement headband with no logo on it for $99 but shipping to Europe would be expensive.
I have had mine for a year and 4 months, and just had the headband break 2 weeks ago. I got into the habit of using them to sleep a little over 4 months ago. I sleep on my sides and back frequently, and I think sleeping on my side put pressure on the joint and caused it to crack. If you roll around in your sleep or sleep on your side, I would not recommend that type of use (perhaps find a small speaker to play noise quietly instead), but if you stay still on your back it should not accelerate the risk of it breaking. Other than that, I would avoid crushing them under heavy items in a bag or suitcase, excessive and forceful leaning on the ears of them, and dropping them, basically just standard care.
I previously owned and enjoyed an XM2 for 5-6 years and upgraded to the XM5 last year. I really enjoy the headphones in terms of sound and noise cancelling tech, and they are quite comfortable for me to wear long term (I end up wearing them for like 6-8 hours a day a lot). But the weakness of that joint and the fact that Sony does not insure physical damage with the standard warranty have made me reconsider whether I will be purchasing Sony headphones in the future, at least if I am looking for something durable as well as fantastic sounding.
anyone knows if there is any way to reinforced that with metal or directly replace it with a metal hinge?
No metal hinge for this at the moment
Was wondering where you found the headband assembly? Sadly couldn’t find it on your website

These must be flying out the door. This is a massive issue. Mine lasted 11 months with loads of use. I paid £350 last June. Amazon nor Sony are interested in helping with warranty repair. Apparently it's my fault and it's normal wear and tear. Buy Bose or Sennheiser.
@@seanmaguire380 not once have I been emailed about being available huge waste of time tbh, I got a pair of Senn Momentum 4s and have also had nothing but issues with frustrating firmware issues and annoying bugs

It would be greatly appreciated if you could actually show the part of the connector that's supposed to unplug and the part that's supposed to stay in the headset because looking at it I cannot tell one way or the other

Can u make a video of sliding issue
Ill get right on it.
Is the hinge repair in this video the same price as the headphone repair?

Can we just replace the hinges instead of replacing the whole assembly
You technically can but it’s a brutal processes and most companies end up messing the repair up.
@@Joesge thanks got it
I’m somehow early because I’m looking to fix my xm4s that broke😭 but this be looking way to complicated
XM4 are a much easier process the video for that repair is here - th-cam.com/video/Tzas7B6Is3E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QexxvsPM5Ozgbqut
