I've been really struggling with life these days. In this vlog, I talk a bit about the Spotify layoffs. As always, I'm always not sure how much I should/can share. However, over the past few months, I've been trying to be more transparent with you about both the ups and downs of my job and I hope to continue doing so. I’m so sorry the layoffs were so stressful. I can only imagine. You are brilliant at your job.
Spotify is literally what saves me. It’s the only bill I pay every month where I think, “Yep. With every penny.” I joined in 2010, and my listening time was 48,609 minutes in 2023 (more now since the wrap-up). Seems low. ♥️ All day every day, in the car/at home/at work.

Have a wonderful time Julia - I think your approach to work is very healthy. Its so important to have second income streams and outside interests, and keeping sort of a distance from work. You going to Asia for a month is a perfect example.
Perfect timing for travel and to reconnect with family in China. Although you're still quite mysterious regarding your boyfriend, hopefully he's making the journey with you. So looking forward to the travel content. Merry Christmas and all the best for 2024!

The layoffs are so scary to hear about because I am a tech student trying to just get my foot internet eh door. I did apply for a few jobs at Spotify and was pushed through referral but I am not holding my breath on that now :(
Same here. I’m worried about layoffs and longevity with how advanced AI has been getting.
I have had days, weeks, months like this and it is very hard to keep going. I am sure a month in Asia with your family will be recuperative and, hopefully, fun. Happy Holidays from Toronto!

i was laid off from a marketing agency that was a brand new startup. i was their marketing manager for only a week and a half and i kept thinking i did something wrong. they were just on a budget and they were trying to keep a goal of budgets for paychecks for every employee. they couldn’t afford to pay newer employees which is the most kind of ridiculous thing i’ve heard. i understand their business and policies, but i was laid off and i had to find another marketing agency job for marketing management.

Hi Julia, I’ve followed you for quite some while now and I notice you quite often have hard/stressful times with your job. I know the career and money are cool but is it really worth it? Does it make you happy? There are jobs that give much more peace and less stress… just what I think to notice through the screen…

really clickbait-y titling since you weren't actually one of the ones that got laid off at spotify and aren't leaving nyc permanently just for a vacation. not a cool first introduction to new viewers that you tried to reach like me. when you click on a video based on the title, you don't expect to be totally misled. not a good way to get new viewers to stick around. you should've left out the "preparing to leave nyc" or wrote that differently. you knew what you were doing
does not getting laid off mean you can’t talk about it? also if you care to watch her other videos she does a lot of cleaning around the house so essentially she is prepping her place to leave. there are so many other TH-camrs who use even more click baity titles. if you don’t like her video you don’t have to watch it

She is preparing to leave nyc? Facts. And she didnt say she was laid off by spotify? The title clearly states spotify layoffs, which is exactly what happened. The title is not “LAID OFF BY SPOTIFY”

they had another round of layoffs at her company. She is still working but had to say goodbye to some of her friends and coworkers

Ok being let go is NOT the same as being laid off, it's two separate things. On that note I am amazed spotify lays off anyone, they are making so much money and we already know they don't pay hardly anything to the artists for streaming. This is nuts.
