This review helped me a lot. I also have a 2007 kia sportagr diesel turbo 4x4 short bed with a carrier. It has two problems, 1. The aircon 2. The exhaust.
Thanks for this review. Thinking about picking up a 2000-ish Sportage. Seems like one of the last compact SUVs with a low gear transfer case. They're generally cheaper than a Sidekick or Tracker.
Very welcome, glad you liked it. I think 03 was the last year of this gen before Hyundai took over. This rig seems to have real good 4wd, though I haven't been able to really put it through its paces just yet
I have a 2000 Kia Sportage 4x4 5 speed. Paid 1,400 with brand new BFG All Terrains. Only con I have with vehicle is under powered. Plenty of pep but 25 more hp would be epic. Also the vacuum actuated front hubs have seals that fail each year. I opted for manual hubs which cost me $80.
I love these little cars Literally awesome They’re perfect little sports Utes for urban and suburban areas as well as rule areas as well and you could take them on the farm and use them on the farm to haul some stuff as well because one of these You could strap a tow hitch to one of these You can literally tow with one of these and I mean seriously you can tow with it because it’s got a ladder frame under these and it’s not like one of those crossovers it’s actually got a frame underneath a full body on a plane chassis under that you can use it is possibly got to be one of the last ladder framed cars besides the crown Vic making these
I actually love the sound of four-cylinder cars especially older ones I feel like older ones had out much louder sound than the newer ones and I feel like the performance was kind of better than the newer stuff newer stuff you sometimes can’t even hear it running so quiet some of the older ones those are nice
good video, however kia has existed before 1993, its just during the 80's and 90's they partnered with ford and mazda, making the pride (sold in korea only), the ford festiva, the mazda 121, and the later sephia sedans used the 1.8l bp engine from the mazda protege
That Car Vlog Channel No, it’s like this, but with other headlights(not yellow) and dashboard. Besides it’s without any airbags and it’s scares me a little)
Hi! I have a 96's gasoline version in Brazil and the fuel float (for fuel measuring) is gone... And it is hard to find another one. May you know if I can substitute it by an equivalent from another vehicle?
hi ,thank you for this great video ! i recently bought a used kia sportage 1996 2.0L 16 V gasoline and i put 275 tyres firestone destination at :P.Also i can confirm that gear sounds between 1 -> 2 or 3-> 2 ....so be patience and take care. Could you suggest a scanner for this car that for sure works ? I dont find the right scanner also due to the obd connecto that it use. thanks !
Thanks! I'm really not sure of a good obd2 scanner personally, i don't have one. I have seen alot of people swear by blue driver scanners tho, especially for a smartphone, but I think it may be slightly expensive
Yeah I heard that noise I heard that Cherry Bomb type of noise on a Yugo and I was like what? It’s a Yugo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it shouldn’t be that loud it’s not supposed to be that loud but that owner of the car he bought it from the previous owner because it died and since he couldn’t fix the engine he got a motor from a Fiat x19 and he put that motor in the car and it had dual carburetors and also a contributor that loud noise on that car is someone drilled holes into the exhaust one of the previous owners I don’t know what they were doing but I believe they put a custom exhaust on it but yeah when he was finished with the car and when he gave it to another owner the other owner was like what it shouldn’t be that loud but the thing is it had a motor a Fiat 19 and that’s what it was
I had honda vi - fast peace of crap. Now i have sportage '97 and really if somebody dont need a speed but love to drive into woods and love 4x4... will be love that grandpa. It's cheap but belive me it's nice toy for grown boy.
I would. It's a decent vehicle, a good daily driver, moreso I'm sure if an automatic. Also pretty good on gas. Just remember with age small issues can arise so check it over well.
Chilton and haynes both have a manual that covers both the sportage and the sephia. Problem is they cover the sephia from 94 on, and only cover the sportage from 05 to 10, which is the next generation. Very hard to find things in print for the 1st gen, youtube has been best for me so far

Nice. Next gen. I would say it's probably a bit nicer

@@НикитаКарлин-д1л very interesting, must be a difference in markets. I'm glad this thing has airbags. Too small to not have
That Car Vlog Channel as far as I know, in 1998, this model was restyled.

Looks like you bushes in the shifter are worn, that can be related to the shift problem.

That's the one thing I never got to do with mine was go offroad. I traded it not long ago. Is it as good as I hoped it would be on the trails?
