They're sold everywhere yes, but I've never heard of anyone buying them as snacks to just enjoy for the sake of it,,,the texture is something between hard plastic and chocolate and the taste is sweet but in a weird way, and salty yes, kind of like salted caramel without the caramel I guess

My mom is diabetic and carries glucose tablets in case her blood sugar drops too low (that does happen.) They’re just meant as a little blood sugar boost until you can get something better to eat. It’s definitely not a snack lol

Glucose tablets are more of a medicine and are used for Diabetics/Low Blood Sugar or any kind of fainting condition/illness such as Vasovagal Syncope or Neurocardiogenic Syncope etc
From my experience if you eat some glucose tablets before drinking you won't get drunk easily and also avoid a hangover. But they're also used as medicine for a quick blood sugar spike if you need it.
my parents are glucoza during the communist times when they grew up and idk if there were any other options but by the way they were describing everything that was happening i think glucoza was the only option of “chocolate”
