My friends used to have Leonberger. She was the sweetest, calmest, friendliest dog I’ve ever knew. The times she barked through her whole life could probably be counted on both hands only. Sadly, she passed two years ago. ❤
Since Leonbergers were bred with the express purpose of being companion dogs, not work dogs, it's relatively easy to socialise them, sadly they are not a very healthy breed though, and tend to not live very long and still accumulate high vet bills. They are one of the breeds were a healthy died does do wonders though and can reduce the vet bills quite a bit and noticably increase their average lifespan.

Great video, as the owner of a huge Old English I appreciate how you contort and twist yourself around the dog to get the job done without causing anxiety for the dog. Your videos should be on the dog groomers course handbook
Your calm energy always has a great transfer to your “ Clients “ .Your sense of humor cracks me up, but also teaches me the responsibility needed from pet owners to choose their pets wisely. Keep calm and groom on …
The 'matching the puppy with the owner' is really smart. When I got my (ragdoll) cat, she was matched with me based on my lifestyle, too. Very excellent choice.
I have always picked a puppy that picked me. BUT 50 lbs of dog food + 25 pounds on pinto beans 25 lbs of rice and neck bones or hamburger. Every month. Sometimes it is Chile ( minus the 3 alarm heat). They will let you know when it is done. Just put it on in a crock pot. The dog food is for their midnight snack. Enough for one of those Leons or two Rottweilers. Oh & having them in pairs is better for the dogs. Now that I am past 3/4 of century. My dog tag team has a combined weight of 26 pounds. One of them is 15 years old and the other is 7 years old. They are all natural. Lots of dogs live a long time and never go to the vet. Dogs in the country side live longer. Mine always had there own door to open. The ones that did not make old age. Got bit by a copperhead or rattler. Happens.
What a darling dog. Nice to hear that a responsible breeder choose her for the family. She sure does appear to be a great dog for children. So beautiful after the groom.
I was all ready to make a joke about calling in a hazmat team to clean up after Gigi, but then you upstaged me right at the end with the “hair behind my eyeballs” remark. Bravo you 2 !
Vanessa....that beekeepers hat is sheer brilliance. My poodle's groomer had never heard of such a thing. I showed her your videos, she subscribed, liked, and was in awe!! As are we all. This groom was amazing, and you did a great job, considering what you had to work with. Thank you for being awesome!!❤🐶❤
My favorite parts of these videos is always the trimming of the grench feet. It was especially satisfying in this video with Gigi’s really floofy feet.
Thanks for sharing that this size dog (and this furry of a dog) requires more than one groomer and how much it will cost to get groomed. And how long. The more realistic expectations people have regarding dogs and their care and costs, the better. The work you do is amazing!!
My Dad's neighbors used to have a leonberger, and my sister and I would dogsit him every now and then. He was the most polite and timid giant and only entered the house after being invited in multiple times like he had to make sure he's not being rude. 😂
When I saw the amount of fur stuck to her nose when you started drying her, I was really glad the happy hoodie was covering her eyes. You are so thoughtful.
My families previous dog was a Leonburger. She was the most beautiful, gentle giant that you could possibly imagine and she gave my family so much more than she ever asked for.😪
Such a beautiful doggo and so well-behaved. One look into Gigi’s eyes and it’s love. Hopefully the owners will set up a regular schedule for her grooming.
@KeyboardWrecker It would be less per session but going more often + tip each time would end up being more expensive. I imagine since the cost of life and especially life with kids has increased significantly, it pushes grooming a little further down the list.

The legend says that she is still out there cleaning her shop .... Trying to clean all that hair.😂😂😂 That was so satisfying to see thought. ! And Gigi was SO calm❤❤
I like to refer to them as leaningbergers because they love to lean against your legs. They are such gentle giants. I think I only met one, maybe two, but from what I have heard and seen on TV they are darlings.

Such beautiful work! And Gigi was so patient and gentle throughout the whole ordeal! Though she obviously doesn't like having her paws messed with. My dogs used to be the same way, until a groomer suggested playing with their paws more at home. That actually worked out really well, and now they're not bothered by someone touching their paws! 😁
Beautiful job!! I used to spend 6 hours once a week bathing and grooming my two Shih Tzu when I kept them in long coat.. I love Leonbergers, they are such gentle giants. They are also very in tune with how people are mentally doing, therefore they are great therapy-dogs!
@daniqueendens7946. I'd have a nervous disorder just trying to maintain the upkeep on a dog like that. Certainly not for everyone, as loving as they are
One chewed a dog walker to pieces in the UK.
I was amazed at her grinch paws. I've never seen that much fur on a dogs paws. She looked beautiful when she was all finished.
Yes those were the epitome of grinchy feet. ❤😊
What a sweetie Gigi is! Boy, when she walked around the corner in your back yard, I thought, "Good gravy, a bear!" 😄
Leonberg is a german town about 40/ 50 kilometers away from my village. The coat of arms annimal of this town is a lion. In german a lion is Löwe, but in ,poets german' lion/ Löwe is Leu or Leo. So decades ago , a breeder wanted to breed a dog, looking like a lion.
Those must have been some of the most grinchiest feet we've seen lately. you give a great deal of love to some very lovely animals. Thank you.
Hello, can you subscribe to the channel?❤
She is clearly a well trained dog and was a very good choice to keep with little kids. I'm glad you had help with her!
It really does look like she's wearing fluffy slippers at the beginning. She's so fluffy!
Talk about Grinch feet! Wow, they really did look like that.
Such an unusual color for a bear, and so well behaved! 🐻
Cat dog
NAWH JIT'S A FCKING HUGEASS DOG
@@gregjones3660 As much as I love cats, this bear / buffalo / mastodon… (mastodog??) is way, way more patient than even the sweetest and most tolerant cat I’ve ever known.
@@donotlendbookstome7923 yep
Amen to everything you said about ethical breeders. Bad breeders/puppy mills only care about the $$$. (Also, when you were blow drying her without the hoodie, Gigi looked like a model in a Maybelline shampoo commercial. 😄)
Totally agree about ethical breeders and loved the "windswept Bardot dry" as well
Agreed.. and yes that was so funny I waiting for now buy Maybelline 😅
I don't wear makeup but I'd consider it now Lol. Total babe that Gigi. 😂 totally agree about the breeders too. All of my pups have always come from shelters. They make the best dogs.
I was thinking supermodel! ❤
Maybe she's born with it
Great video, as the owner of a huge Old English I appreciate how you contort and twist yourself around the dog to get the job done without causing anxiety for the dog. Your videos should be on the dog groomers course handbook
Your calm energy always has a great transfer to your “ Clients “ .Your sense of humor cracks me up, but also teaches me the responsibility needed from pet owners to choose their pets wisely. Keep calm and groom on …
Very well said! 👏🏾
I have never seen a dog like that before. She is beautiful and so sweet natured!
I have never known a Leo with any edge to them. Wonderful dogs.
SO. MUCH. FLUFF!!! Gigi is gorgeous, and what a beautiful gentle nature she has. I bet she gives the best cuddles.
I wanna hug her!
And keeps you sooo warm during the Winter months too. Cuddles and ❤. Just Perfect.
I like when you show the dogs in the natural light in your yard. Beautiful groom today!
Greetings from Leonberg, Germany 😂 those dogs are massive and beautiful!
Roman and Regina from Zwiger vom Kaniberg send their regards.
When I saw the amount of fur stuck to her nose when you started drying her, I was really glad the happy hoodie was covering her eyes. You are so thoughtful.
I agree ! Vanessa customizes every dogs groom to their needs, wants (mostly) and has so many skills. The Groomer you want, that's for sure .
I love knowing they feel so much better after a good clean and removing that mats. Those were the grinchiest feet I’ve seen so far
My families previous dog was a Leonburger.
She was the most beautiful, gentle giant that you could possibly imagine and she gave my family so much more than she ever asked for.😪
The tippy taps when you were drying her feet were so cute ☹️ what a gentle and sweet pupper ❤
Such a beautiful doggo and so well-behaved. One look into Gigi’s eyes and it’s love. Hopefully the owners will set up a regular schedule for her grooming.
You would think it would be cheaper if it were more regular
@KeyboardWrecker It would be less per session but going more often + tip each time would end up being more expensive. I imagine since the cost of life and especially life with kids has increased significantly, it pushes grooming a little further down the list.
Holy moly that’s one fluffy dog!
I thought a woolly malamute was the fluffiest dog I've ever seen, but I think I was wrong! You worked so hard and she looks amazing!
I read that as "woolly mammoth" and thought "Great description!" 😂
@@toneddef Same
I am always so happy to see you properly socialized and trained large dogs.
Probably the cutest, fluffiest and most well behaved bear in the world 🥺
Oh yes. It IS a BEAR!
when gigi was slightly damp she looked like a gilly suit! i can’t believe she was so gentle and sweet for such a long groom, both vanessa (+ the assistants) & gigi’s owners should be proud :) i would love to spend the day with a leonburger, even if it meant back aching work
She's one of the loveliest doggehs you've had on the show. So floofy and gentle.
What a great transformation!!!!! Glorious really is the perfect word for her. Her family is very lucky, and I'm sure vice versa.❤
😮you are patient and caring for these pups!WELL DONE !!!°
Gigi looks 1000% better at the end. That's a lot of work to keep this gentle giant looking good. She's absolutely beautiful! 😍❤
She is, indeed, a glorious beast! I've only had the privilege of meeting one of these dogs in person, and he was such a huge lovebug; thank you for sharing this with us!
I love Leonbergers so much! One of the gentlest of the giant breeds in my opinion. Every Leonberger I've met has been so lovable and sweet. You did a great job with this one.
The is one of the most wholesome and enjoyable channels I have come across. Thank you for all the effort you put in to making these.
What a well-tempered beauty! She must feel so much better after her spa day!
“…and pulling hair out from behind my eyeballs.” 🤣
Well done, Vanessa! Gigi looks glorious!
A LEONBERGER!!!!!😮😮😮😮💜💜💜💜 Absolutley one, if not theee, of my favourite breeds. They are such amazing dogs and the way you spoke of the breeder, I am 90% sure I know exactly where she came from.
I'm going to groom my poodle today and will undoubtedly be narrating the entire thing in my head with your voice! 🤣🤣
I love all your videos! Your work is mesmerizing. Your sense of humor is spot on. And I learn so much about the breeds. Thank you!
My local pubs owner has a leonberger, he’s less than a year old and every time I see him I swear he’s grown a foot but he’s an absolute sweetheart outside of trying to hump you.
Our family absolutely loves your videos! Especially your poodle clients.
You're very kind! Thanks for all your hard work.
The legend says that she is still out there cleaning her shop .... Trying to clean all that hair.😂😂😂
That was so satisfying to see thought. !
And Gigi was SO calm❤❤
Gigi is very well behaved. She's so cute, and fluffy that at a distance she looks like a young bear.
I like to refer to them as leaningbergers because they love to lean against your legs. They are such gentle giants. I think I only met one, maybe two, but from what I have heard and seen on TV they are darlings.
Always cool to see a Leonberger.
I am from Leonberg, the City where they where originaly bread and im always Happy when i see that they are loved everywhere :D
My last dog was a Border collie/Sheltie mix who i brushed every day to keep him Mat-free and he almost never needed a bath. I appreciate the hard work you put into making dogs look their Best! God bless🥰
I learn so much for my own grooming business from you. Thank you for sharing what I call your "secrets". I know more on how to charge for large heavy coated breeds, and more on grooming cats. I had never seen the "Hazzard Helmet" until your videos, and I now own one. I clip the Murder Mittens first, if not declwed. Thank you ever so much for your info on the breeds and grooming. I enjoy watching your videos!
Oh no! The mention of declawed cat made me grit my teeth because of how declawing leaves a permanent damage on cats as well as as lifetime of pain and suffering, not just physically but also mentally. Sorry for this rant..
@@whatevergoesforme5129 don't apologise for ranting about it. Apologise to all the felines that have to suffer because some humans want cats but don't want to let them be cats. not to mention vets that actually torture these cute little balls of fluff by cutting off their toes. My heart bleeds for the cats that are made to suffer so
@@whatevergoesforme5129 both of these cats were declawed years ago, and I just started grooming them. I would have tried to talk these owners out of it. My first cat got declawed before I knew it was amputation. I've had many cats since and never declawed any others. Bobby thought he was a dog for the most part. He is long gone now. How I miss him.
@@xTerminatorAndy Thanks for your words. Our cats are allowed to do their thing even though it meant having our pieces of furniture take a beating but I learned from Jackson Galaxy how to divert cats' attention to where you want them to do their scratching.
@@dawntrottman1421 I see.
I saw a Leonberger once in person. I think she was 3 years old. Very big, but very friendly and FLUFFY!!
I know she feels so much better! What a calm girl❤
WE had a St. Bernard named, Heidi, when I was a child in the 70s and 80s. In the spring she'd lie out in the yard and let flocks of birds help shed her! They'd land on her and pull out tufts of her shedding coat! Of course I loved to help her as well! So satisfying to loosen and esp big tuft of hair!
I also had a pug (Herbie passed away Thanksgiving morning at 2am 2021) but he only shed twice a year... for 6 months at a time! I still find his fur everywhere, and I cry, smile and thank him for being the bestest boi I ever had.
I love how glorious she looked as you were drying her face, like she was in a high end shampoo commercial 😂
For some reason, my brain sang, "The hills are alive with the sound of music" during that little scene 😆
She's a glorious dog. She was an awfully good puppy during her groom as well. She turned out lovely. ❤
Ohhhh my serious fluff 😮😊
How could you not love such a beautiful precious baby 💗
God bless all the furbabies and those who love them 👑💞✝️🐾🕯
Love the job you do on the large dogs. My newf LOVES the groomer. She loves the brushing and blower. If he stops either, she whacks him with her giant paws lol.
Love your channel. So nice to have a happy, "clean" content, calm place to go on the interweb. 👍
Gorgeous! I imagine she's well-loved and cared for regardless of the time spent away from the groomers. She was so well behaved! You did a great job, and your outfit is so cute. 😊
what an incredibly well-mannered and patient dog!! her breeders DEFINITELY deserve major kudos with Gigi! I hope you got some well-earned rest time too after such a big groom job!
What a sweet, patient girl with the grinchiest grinch feet of them all! 😊
What a good girl! It looked very uncomfortable for her with that matting, but she behaved nicely! So cute
Oh My Dog!! 😍🤩😍🤩😍 Adore Gigi!! 😍🤩😍🤩
Idk why but your dog grooming videos is therapy for me ❤
This one dog’s hair-spa day easily equals 10 people getting their haircut 💇🏻♀️ and styled. You definitely deserve a long break after styling and de-grinching this beauty.
What a glorious dog and so patient! I bet she's well loved and now well groomed.
So nice to hear breeders actually caring about pups, my boy Darko was like a week when I got him, some person rescued this mama dog on the country side and didnt have any more space for a new litter of puppies, so she helped the mom get them and gave them for adoption, I got my boy and I had to put him in transit for 3 months so he can be with other dogs and socialize because of my meds to sleep I couldnt be there for him at night.. But after of 3 months of love and care from a wonderful lady with a cat and another dog he was ready to go.. Its been four years of laughs and cuddles.. He thinks he is a lap dog but he is a mix of labrador and greyhound.. He is long, skinny and FAST
so kind the dog is, quite and so lovely he beeen
What a gentle giant ❤️ and beautiful, too! Best wishes to Gigi and her family!
Wow. She looks so clean and shiny. Great job , it’s a full time job just brushing her. I love your sense of humour 😂.
Some of the dogs you've groomed I've never heard of! This is a beautiful dog, in fact, absolutely stunning! You did a fantastic job on her!!
She looks so much happier without all the matting! Great Job on Gigi!
That dog deserves pretty pearly wings and a halo. Such a delightful creature!
Love your sense of humor!
What a wonderful breed. Gigi is SUCH A GOOD GIRL. Those might be the fluffiest of paws ever. I think it's the funny the way she looks almost deflated at the end because all the mats are out. Great job, don't forget to stretch
Gigi wins the award for the Grinchiest of Grinch Paws!
You did a fantastic job on her. Such a beautiful dog!💜😀
I've never heard of a Leonbergure or whatever you called her but Gigi is GORGEOUS and her temperament is incredible! I'm in love.
What a sweet, gentle giant. She looks fab. Good job!
She truly is massive but truly adorable 🥰!
What a gorgeous mountain of hair! She's stunning and so patient.
She’s so well behaved and beautiful.
The assistance part can’t be more than the truth! I remember when I worked my first job at a groomers a few years ago, the place was poorly managed with the place being understaffed with having me and my sister possibly doing up to 40 dogs and with dogs as big as GiGi I’d sometimes have assistance or I don’t. Oh, and I’d work overtime and not get that pay 🙃. I’ve never been that stressed out in my life
Thank goodness she was cooperative!
When I first saw Gigi in the video, I was wondering what you were going to do with her paws. 🐾I had never come across a dog with floppy slippers like hers. I'm sure when they bring her back for another session, you'll be able to blend her coat the way you prefer, with your excellent standards. Her result today was marvelous considering what you started with.
