It was confirmed on Reddit by Jeff (who created the movies) that Deora II was actually meant for Vert’s mom, who worked on the National Defense with Jack Jr. Not only was she allegedly a better driver than Vert and Jack Jr., but had also worked with Tezla. She built the groundwork for the Silencerz and her breakthroughs are the result of the technology that the Silencerz (and Tezla) use. Jack Jr. would’ve also been chosen, but his squad was investigating the portals (which is why he’s leaving in World Race) and wasn’t available. He only kept Vert because his fresh license and young mind could make the cars (designed by his mom) perform better than any other driver. He is the son of a great inventor, so he could be very smart.
Jeff also implies that Vert’s mom was captured by the Drones, enslaved to work on all of their tech (which explains why the recon drones are similar to the Street Breed’s tech). Which means that one of the possible reasons why Jack Jr. wanted to “talk” with Vert is because he needs him to rescue his mother (he could’ve either knew from the start and didn’t want to tell Vert or discovered this fact when exploring Hot Wheels city and taking the Wheel of Power).
This actually makes Vert’s mom a great character in hindsight because she’s done so much without even appearing once.

About Vert, I believe that the reason he was picked is because his dad vouched for him because he saw potential in him. Not just to win the race, but to do what is right, whatever it may be

Or Tezla was able to search the database and found that Vert had exceptional driving skills and knowledge on driving, wouldn't be surprised Tezla could hack via his tech or Gig.

I think each team leader represents the symbolism of the team:
    Kadeem:Resilience and adaptability
    Kurt:hability and ambition
    Banjee:ferocity and courage
    Taro:experience and resistance
    Vert:Flexibility and Unpredictabilty
Ps: great and deep analysis as always.

Vert can also be said for their expression of being creative considering that surfing also allows someone to show off which needs creativity to do anything on such little assets they have and what they are currently given in surfing, being the board and racing being the car with jets without fumbling to end in a bad way

  • @Windjammer19

I believe each racer symbolizes Tezla's theories of racing and the Philosophy of the Accelerons.
Banjee: He liked breaking rules and finding work arounds to win. HW35 is the ultimate racetrack, conventional driving skills aren't enough to complete it in my opinion. Also he's willing to risk himself and his car to win and overcome obstacles. He basically YOLO'd the greatest challenge.
Taro: Personally, I think he's the best driver in the series, even better than Vert. And part of this has to do with Taro not really looking for fame or glory. He just likes to race, but does it in an honorable way (like you said). I think this helps him greatly. Look at the Water Realm. He was the only human driver who wasn't being held back pride, rage or fear. Driving was the only thing that mattered. He was focused, to put it bluntly.
Kurt: He basically embodied a mastery of driving at the highest level, but also was HYPER competitive. He would do almost anything to win.
Kadeem: I liked how you worded it, "He came from nothing, but is racing for everything". Unlike the other drivers who are mostly driving for thrills (Banjee, Taro, Vert) and Ego/Suspicion (Kurt), Kadeem HAS to win this race since he views it as a great opportunity to help his people. He races out of desperation and that could push him to greater heights.
Vert: I think he embodies all of these things, or at least learns them from the other leaders throughout the movie. He learns that racing is serious business at that reckless driving can hurt himself and others from Taro (and saving Lani). It's reinforced that breaking the rules is sometimes ok (although it didn't work out for him and Banjee). He learns that he needs to have a real goal beyond "have fun" to win from Kadeem. And he learns to be a bit vicious in his driving from Kurt (taking out the drones).
Great video. I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts.

  • @101jir
    @101jir ปีที่แล้ว +2

First, I want to thank you for putting out content like this and helping to keep the fandom alive!
People keep saying "courage" for Banjee, but I don't think that's very precise. He's extremely comfortable with high risk. That's not quite the same thing as a courageous person, who will do the just thing regardless of the suffering or risk involved. Justice was not often part of the picture when it came to anything Banjee could do anything about. I presume he would have gone back for a fellow driver, but Taro and Vert already had it covered. He was unusually comfortable with risk, but I'd say he was also perhaps the most relaxed about the driving, which is a source of clear thinking. He would have raced for free, because he's in it for the thrills. As dangerous as the world race is, having a driver that can look death straight in the face and eat it for breakfast is quite valuable. Additionally, he is mischievous, which I will get back to later.
I honestly had no idea for Vert. I thought immaturity was an awful trait in a leader, but what you mentioned about thinking outside the box makes complete sense! And of course, being young there was still plenty of room for him to mature as the race went on.
I like your choice of clip for Taro, "This isn't a game kid, you're a driver now." Sums up his character so well. He is focused and doesn't take anything lightly, contrasting Banjee well in particular. Where Banjee is likely to take needless risks, Taro will stick to what is tried and true. Where Taro is likely to be too direct, Banjee will take the higher risk, higher reward option that still appears to be an option. And if that's not enough, Vert will find the hidden option.
Kurt walks a fine line between idealism, ruthlessness, and ambition. He almost has the traits to be considered a fanatic, yet not dogmatic and so can't be called that. The ruthlessness in particular means that where scruples would hold back any of the other 3, Kurt simply has no care in the world. Between his arrogance and his ruthlessness, he simply doesn't hesitate, even where Taro's code of honor would prevent him from doing something (the second least likely character to hesitate to do something that will result in a win).
Kadeem has a sense of duty and the best overall leader. He's the most mediated, idealistic of the group. He's more a "big picture" guy. While the others are excellent as drivers, Kadeem has the best charisma to be an effective leader. Kurt is entirely untrustworthy, Vert is unproven and immature, Taro is excessively harsh, and Banjee enjoys being troublesome too much to make his own rules.
Thus, between the 5, Tesla can count on one of them to get the job done. And here we get to why Tesla was unable to run the race himself with remote cars: he was simply too rigid in his need for control. He knew he couldn't win with his mindset when Gig brought up "a new kind of driver," and so on a certain level I think he knew he needed drivers that would challenge his thinking. But I think he hoped they'd challenge him only on his approach to racing and got more than he bargained for. Getting back to Banjees mischief, he knew Banjee would be actively looking for trouble, something he couldn't bring himself to do. Tesla was also too old and set in his ways, he needed a young driver and apparently if they had time to write more about the characters, he knew Vert's parents and that they were an intelligent family, so Vert was a good place to start (not that he would have necessarily been opposed to another young driver). He knew Taro had zero tolerance for excuses or dishonorable conduct. This allows him to learn from his mistakes, rather than making the same ones over and over, as I am sure Tesla was doing. Kurt's arrogance exceeds even Teslas. Those two are in many ways the most similar to each other, and indeed their distrust of each other is well earned. But sometimes treachery gets results, and none know better than those two. Despite a certain slip up, in general Kadeem has the wisdom to look beyond the race itself and see where things are going.

I want to elaborate (or maybe just reiterate) something in my previous post, it was rather long. TL;DR: Ranking each captain best leadership to worst leadership would be 1) Kadeem 2) Taro 3) Vert 4) Banjee 5) Kurt (worst)
Something that I think deserved to be mentioned is that Kadeem is by far the best leader of the 5, even if he is perhaps not the best driver individually. After him is Taro, who can be an effective leader for some types but not as well rounded. While Kadeem can encourage others to be at their best, Taro's high pressure leadership will break most. Only the toughest cookies are going to be at their best with Taro as a leader. After that are the captains that are not very effective leaders in general. Next character I would pick is Vert (at the beginning). Although he does improve a lot over the course of the show, fundamentally he is an immature kid who doesn't see the big picture. His creativity as a driver could make it easier to overlook his shortcomings in general leadership skills, but the last two would simply not be fun to have as captains. Banjee I would rank as the second worst leader. He is too busy breaking rules himself to make any, and put simply nobody is comfortable being lead by a maniac. How comfortable would someone be with a leader that would throw their own lives away so meaninglessly, let alone yours? A good guy that means no harm, but absolutely terrifying as a leader. The same cannot be said of Kurt, easily the worst overall leader. Kurt is shady, an egomaniac, and ultimately more focused on his own performance than that of his crew. I doubt he does any real training or coaching, which at least Banjee offers hints and training to his crew. He picks people that he considers competent and leaves them to it. In that sense he isn't really much of a leader in the social sense as much as track performance.
