    1000!
    Have to admit that I get so jacked over all these VW Restoration channels. Had a 68 VW Beetle back in the 80s. Learned how to drive a stick with it and never went back to an automatic. Gift from my grandfather after having lesrned I got jumped by some punks for a thrill.

    Thanks Mike ------ I think of you are the only one really explaining how and the problems you might encounter in putting the body back on the pan ----- the alignment problems ---------- others show putting the body on ---- but not saying what they had to do in in getting on ------ So, Thank you for pointing out where the problem area might be and how you go about fitting it together ------ It looks even better on the pan ----- hope the color of the body and doors match when you get them on ------- Thank You ---- Rodney

    Just put my body back on a few days ago and then found this video.
    Found I had the same experience fighting those captive plate bolts in the front and in no way was i able to "2 finger" the bolts in.
    That hole punch woulda been helpful, i poked, like you did, then just out the bolt in. Fought the rubber seal whole time but.... better seal when there's a smaller hole? Bigger fight too, so your choice.
    Thanks for the video, got my like!

  • @67VWForever
    @67VWForever ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hay Mike on the next Build you do don't poke hols in the pan seal you will find out its not hard to use the og bolts to do the job for you put body on and the bolts have a point on them for this reason push the bolt righ through it and it will find the hole + the more rubber you have around the bolt the better I did this on my 67 bug didn't take any longer . Allso this is for everyone use the original style carpet nails put them in the original holes to hold down the gasket this helps from moving If you need more nails just order more. I believe they come in a bag of 10 or 15. I don't remember you can always drill a small hole if you need more nails to hold down your gaskit for your body Pan.

    Should of used some long bolts with the heads cut off and use at all four corners to align it.

  • @brcron007
    @brcron007 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Tip from my pop years ago to me to offer as a suggestion for some I've done in the past. Which was to cut the heads off 4 long bolts for the front bolts and made them into stub guides to align it and have the threaded nut hunt avoided. Just thought I'd mention it. Looks Great Mike ! As always and wouldn't expect any less from your talent. I really like that color too, Classy. Didn't it originally have Red interior didn't it ?. 👍👍👍

      @Mikefngarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yea use some all thread in the bolt holes before you drop the body....good idea for guys without a lift.

    I swapped a body over for a better body many years ago. The only bolts to give me trouble was the two fronts on your passenger side ( our drivers side). Had to learn from scratch how they worked

    • @Mikefngarage
      @Mikefngarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yea just depends. sides sometimes and sometimes not. just depends on the car.

    • @Mikefngarage
      @Mikefngarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      2 stage high solids clear. there is plenty on the run area to scrap off then sand and buff. cant do this with single stage.

    • @Mikefngarage
      @Mikefngarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really as much as I just worry about people being misled thinking it's going to be super easy to put the body back on the pan. it's not usually
