  • In this video we get possibly to the end of our pontiac revival! My buddy bought a bore scope and we get a look at the damage on cylinder 6. Then i finish up with the power windows and get all dug into the greasy bottom end to swap in a set of rod bearings.

Gee,do you think it was Overheated and bent a pushrod?I'm guessing Yes.Do to the oil burn on the crank, and that's pushrod knock, and easy to check with the valve covers off...oh..1 would be loose when on TDC(I know you know this, but for others they'd need to rock the lifter arms to see if loose).I'd say it's a definite possibility of a for sure maybe. The only prob I delt with on the 3800's was the 'Harmonic Dampener'.Sounded like a rod going, but the sound didn't stop when accelerating, and increased only ...

When you change the bearings do you have to sand the rods and Caps? Or just clean them up and put bearing back in? I'm doing my bearing tomorrow in my 07 grand prix gt

I didn't sand mine, but I had no damage on the caps or rods. I'm not sure of the proper procedure though. I'd advise looking it up or following a video from an experienced engine builder.

    Thank Gosh the 1st 3:20 wasn't a Proctology exam.Yikes..Those aren't Kidney stones...and I don't think Prune juice will help...either way.

I would start with intake valve cleaning first

I've tried that before but it's worth another shot before tearing into it again.

What did you torque the oil pan back down to my friend?
