I’m a patient of Dr. Kim and I couldn’t ask for no one better to help me look as normal as possible when I had a tumor removed from my left side of my face that in addition, they had to remove the facial nerves. Dr. Kim was able to notice that cancer was still on the bell’s palsy nerves. Thank you Dr. for noticing that because it was vital for my survival and thank you for doing such an amazing job with reconnecting new nerves so that I can have facial movements.
Thank you for this very informative video. I plan on having this procedure done in just a couple of weeks. I'm having mine done at froedtert in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have every confidence in my surgeons abilities. I would like to make a TH-cam video of my experience and I was hoping to have permission to use some clips from this video in my own video. Could you please reply or give me information on how to obtain the permission I would need? Thank you and I'm very excited to have this procedure done.
I'm in the USA and the neurologist I went to said there was nothing that could be done for Bells Palsy. When I went back to see him almost 2 years later with synkinesis, balance problems, tinnitus he said that was definitely not from Bells Palsy and that it was just old age. I'm 61, wth. Too many Doctors don't know Jack and don't care either. They don't go to continuing education and haven't cracked a book in 30 years
So glad I view this video. I am in north California and would like to come visit UCLA health. But I can’t seem to get the information I needed, like website or phone numbers Please send information to me
Hi ! am female and 54 yrs of age. i have facial paralysis since young. and am afraid into surgery as well. would botox make me completely smile even if its too late for my age? thank you for glancing into my concern and God bless..
Dr Kim- thank you for this hugely informative presentation! A quick question: I was under the impression that Bell’s palsy was not an upper motor neuron disorder, and therefore not a problem with the brain. Is that true? I was a little confused at 19:30.
bells palsy has nothing to do with the brain , its a LMN lesion. however i think she uses the term brain wrongfully at points here. What she means is that the proximal lower motor nerve is damaged so you cant do an end to end anastomosis or cable graft . in bells pasy the ischemia happens at the inner ear near the brain so reanimation needs to happen distally.i have the impression this lecture is not meant for advanced post graduate as she uses a lot of lay terms
It’s not process for myself I has been has to do with nerves not being fully developed during birth.. Only when I smile and speak the left side of my mouth on my right side it goes really crooked and then my left eye goes in route that’s a totally Another issue which is Strabismus
I got bells pulse on 2018 20th August. My eyes are fine and movement is ok but I still didn’t get my smile back. My face is dropping a lot in the left side. It’s bother me a lot please let me know what I suppose to do
