Too much development cost for a high risk at failing for a device not many people want (only a niche market) so recovering development costs and competing with Samsung is probably not looking like a good ROI. This probably released because the company actually developed it and said "crap we have to release it to get SOMETHING back even if only a few thousand sell!".

Except Apple's products have constantly made huge profits for Apple.
Other than the 5S (Touch ID and the 64 bit processor), I can't recall a time where Apple did anything first. They tend to watch the trends, wait a few years, then release a super refined version of whatever the popular thing is. Their stuff always works well, but they're also always late to the party.
Apple’s thing is never being first, it’s putting out the highest quality user experience. Which they still do. Even if it’s usually ridiculously overpriced, you can’t just say apple products suck

I think anyway that on stock android it should be enabled the rotation of 180°, I had it on cyanogen and it was really helpful with bad radio signal, as the antenna that on the normal way is hidden behind the hand at 180° is exposed!

It seems like companies just started to make folding phones because people got bored and some of them said “hey what if it folded, that would be cool” and now they’re all scrambling to justify how this could actually possibly be useful in any way to anyone. The only thing this can do that looked remotely useful was the baby mode thing.
Ehh I think the idea of a foldable phone makes sense just because for years companies are just trying to make make bigger and bigger screens but at some point you can't just keep making them bigger without make the phone too big. But with foldable phones you can make the screen bigger.. much much bigger and still hàve the phone be the same size as before so it can fit your pocket
I keep trying to justify getting a new tablet, but I always go back to the fact that it's not as convenient as my phone. If I can unfold my phone and have a tablet, that'd be the dream.
