Julie Tolman im not sure as i dont really have any experience in royal icing but if your using gel food coloring it shouldnt affect the consistency that much but if youre using liquid food coloring than that would probably the case.
I haven't tried this with lemon juice, but it might make your royal icing very tart. I would suggest testing this out first. Happy experimenting! -Robin

Can I make a design with thin/flooding royal icing on parchment paper... Let it dry/harden and transfer it to a cupcake?
We would recommend using a stiff consistency icing for any designs you plan to transfer.

It will dry at room temperature, but it can take several hours, especially if it is thicker.
