Dragon Ball Z: The legacy of Goku was released in 2002 for the gameboy advance. Developed by Webfoot technologies.
The game is an action-adventure title with RPG elements. We'll be playing as Goku and going through various parts of the Saiyan and Frieza sagas.

Holy crap.
I know games like these were limited by the hardware and stuff but as someone who has recently re-watched all off og dragon ball and is currently on the android/cell saga it's crazy to see how this game handled the actual parts of the story. It's so bad that I was constantly cringing throughout the video 🤣 Also the amount of padding in the game is just hilarious.
But yeah, the only game I've played from this series is buu's fury and I can say you'd be quite surprised once you play that game. It's not spectacular but it's a lot more fun than this one that's for certain so Im looking forward to you playing it when you hit 1000. Congrats on 400 subs 😀

People often forget that Tien created the Solar Flare because Krillin uses it the most in the series.
I was confused when Krillin stole it because I thought it needed Tien's third eye to work.
@@CoralCopperHead That can’t be, cause I THINK Goku was the first to steal it. He used it against Piccolo in Dragonball.

@@rogersbryant1507 Year late but Goku used it against tien and his copies when they were looking at the sky/sun to find him. Definitely the first to use the move after tien

I got this game in 2002. I stopped playing this game quick because those wolves were effing me up. It wasn't until 2006 when i learned how to actually play the game. And i felt the game ended abruptly when it ended after Freiza.
I stopped playing it because of the wolves too lol. I didn't end up finishing the game until about a year after I got it.
Lord.... I downloaded it recently and can't even get past the forest cause of all the damn dogs determined to have a Goku sandwich

During the opening movie, press UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A. You'll hear a chime, and you can now actually PLAY the game, and keep your sanity, lmao.

I have fell down a rabbit hole with your videos. These are dope. Side note Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu’s Fury are actually very good and are in the top tier of DBZ games
In the early 90s Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu (Legend of the Super Saiyan) was released for the Super Famicom. It’s an RPG spanning the Saiyan and Namek sagas. This game included traditional RPG elements mixed with a card system when battling opponents. There are random battle areas where you fight opponents to level up ki except when flying over an area. To say the flying was superior to the 2000s iteration is an understatement. You can level up your character to such a degree that Piccolo can defeat final form Frieza with one energy wave. Granted this may take you weeks of playing but it’s possible. It’s available as a ROM for the ZNES emulator complete with an 87% translation of dialogue, though not for the card system. That said, through trial and error you get familiar with the attack cards. I’d give it a play through, I think you would be pleased by this early 90s DBZ RPG that’s more interesting than the trash 2000s game.

I actually got introduced to Legacy of Goku through the second game. It and Buu's Fury became some of my favorite games on the GBA honestly, yet I always wondered what the first game was like since the two sequels were so good.
I didn't miss much. Or anything at all.

While this game sucked, I remember having it as a kid. It was my first GBA game, I swear the theme song was stuck in my head for the longest time, and I still love it.

This game was my childhood for better or for worse lol. While I absolutely still love Legacy of Goku II and Buu's Fury, the first game hasn't aged well at all.
It's kinda crazy how much they improved with the sequels.
People also forget trunks was in the opening for a few years before he was revealed in the series on cartoon network no one could figure it out until the trunks promo cause it's only half a second and Goku's super Saiyan transformation takes the focus in the final shot.

I played this game in the 6th grade back in when it first came out and I thought the game was amazing fast forward I understand all the flaws the game has I probably will never play it again but this game will always have a special place in my heart lol.

Supersonic warriors is a pretty good game as I remember. Man I'd love to watch you do Sagas too... loving the dragonball videos 🐉

ngl this game gives off the same vibe as playing a story map with a custom texture pack that you downloaded from the minecraft forums.
People always talk about the Konami Code but for me it's The invincibility code for this game has been forever burned into my brain...

Oh my God Goku's death yell. I completely forgot about that. Best creative decision of the game for sure and should have been carried to all other Dragonball games
Great video. Damn, I really did not remember this game right. But yeah it sucked. I think I was quite young when I borrowed this from my cousin so maybe that's why I thought it was kind of ok. Great analysis, comedy and editing. I had a great time with this video.
The Kamehameha was yellow first in the full-color-manga. And then the Super Kamehameha from Gt. Saiya-Gohan against the Buu-Egg too.

I will be doing legacy of Goku 2 for my 500 sub special. Unfortunately I was completely unprepared for the amount of subs that I gained this month. Since I only usually get about 10 new subs a month, I thought I would have way more time to make the video. whoops

I joked about this game getting sequels but they really did improve a lot.
Tbh I'd listen to your videos even if you didn't talk about things I like you just have a very soothing voice you could def be like a child's book narrator or something

Thanks God I didn't buy this game back in the day; I was already unlucky enough to have bought and played the hell out of DBZ Taiketsu... then, thanks to the good lord, again, I got DB Advance Adventure which is one of my favorites GBA games. When we were kids, we didn't have good ways to pick games, it was like gambling, maybe you will find a beautiful diamond, maybe you will find cancer inside of a plastic box
"Somehow both incredibly truncated and full of filler" seems to be a solid description of the plot in every DBZ game.

Never played the Legacy of Goku games when they came out. Watched a playthrough of, i believe, 2. And then I emulated 3 a few years ago and played through. Decent games, nothing mind blowing.
I played the legacy of goku 2 first. I love it and still reply it. But when I finally tried the first game, boy it does not live up to its sequel.
It does redeem itself in the music department tho. That’s about it

It must be a regional difference; I'm from the US and had this game and it did have the actual Rock the Dragon theme (albeit horribly compressed).
LoG 1 really is poor lol. I remember cheesing Freeza at the end because his AI would just beat the shit out of me even after I grinded. I haven't played Buu's Fury but LoG 2 is easily one of the best handheld DBZ games.

In NZ they were always quite expensive until they had been out for years or nobody wanted them lol
@@HiddenChannel i was 1992-1998 as a refugee here in Germany, the good games were around 79 German Mark at that time. This would be 40 Euros these days. The trash games were reduced 10-15 Euros. They did it also with DS Games

Maybe you mention it, but I'm gonna call you out before I watch the video. No, not even close to the worst. Taiketsu. DBZ Taiketsu on the GBA... *THAT*. THAT is the worst DBZ game ever made. By a mile. Lets make a 'competitive' fighting game, on a console with 2 face buttons and 2 shoulder buttons. The TMNT arcade game on NES has more depth than that hunk of crap. If you haven't, I suggest checking it out at some point. xD
