    In their defense Gokus infatuation with the dragon ball is cause it’s the 4 star dragon ball that grandpa gohan gave him when he was a kid (Dragon ball) and then he eventually passes it down to gohan to wear on his hat. That’s why you see the look of recognition before he hugs it, cause it reminds him of grandpa gohan lol. They definitely knew their history lol

    Aside from no beam struggles, no tournament, and the weird hyper mode, what really saddened me about this game was the lack of a deeper roster. I wish they added cut characters like Android #19, Dodoria, Zarbon, Cui or even added some new ones like some other members of the Ginyu Force. IW does a lot right, but does feel like a Street Fighter style update.

    I found out about this game in a magazine,I enjoyed it for what it was but I wish the level up system and the world tournament mode were included. The game overall seems like a combination of all 3 Budokais,it has the 1st's cutscenes,the 2nd's boardgame and the 3rd's graphics/gameplay with a smidge of Shin Budokai blended in.

    • @kzukiodenthechad7205
      @kzukiodenthechad7205 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It had a larger roster than 3 as well as more moves and less limitations, the punch kick combo’s were also slightly different and it played in real time rather than had the delay Budokai 3 always had when a fight became intense, infinite world should be viewed as a true fighter game made to use to play with your friends, and although B3 had that, it had it’s faults, but in terms of an interactive story, B3 for sure takes the cake

The best part about it was that if my friend was losing, he wasn't able to press select and start simultaniously to go all the way back to the main menu of the game.
    Cool channel btw, the Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi games are still my all-time favorites to this day and I'll always go back to playing them during the christmas season (That's when I first got Budokai 3)

  • @gravethestampede3454
    @gravethestampede3454 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    For every good thing it did in comparison to Budokai 3 it fucked something up. They got rid of the crappy dragon rush cut aways but also took away tournament mode. They fixed the capsule system so you don't have to devote multiple slots for multiple transformations (Freeza couldn't use his spaceship revival and his ultimate thanks to having to give up so many slots), but added made the fatigue system annoyingly swingy. We got cutscenes but also crappy mandatory minigames. We got new characters and lost others.
    It's a worthy game but not some grand evolution to the series as much as it is a list of trade offs. Whether or not it's worth it has to do with what you like most about 3 I suppose. I still feel it plays a bit better thanks to the loss of the luck sacky dragon rush, and I prefer the roster here so I would probably more often choose to play Infinite World over Budokai 3.

All in all I do feel like I missed out on never getting to play this one, but at the same time I do kind of get why it was seen as a 'lesser' entry.

    Y'know, while this review covered quite well the general aspects of IW as any other DBZ game, it kinda missed the new important changes for gameplay.
    How fatigue can be exploited, how Aura Burning can be used, how combos and combo routes have changes, how RTFs influenced the meta and why Super Armor basically dominated PvP.

    Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 has the most badass and authentic Intro of all of DBZ games of the Franchise. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. (- Sheer amount de of characters
    - Transformations mid-battle (powering up and down)
    - Fusions mid-battle
    - Fast gameplay that has that "woah" feel
    - Tons of extra content
    - Story mode covering all sagas + movies
    - What If sagas
    - Shenron having permanent impact on game (character unlocks and whatnot)
    - Great tournaments that rotate availability
    - Edit characters with items (buffs)
    - 5v5 battles
    - Really Great and Epic Soundtracks
    - Destroyable environments
    - Entire stages could be blown up into their "destroyed" alternatives
    - Mission 100 being a great challenge
    - Artwork is 10/10
    - Sound effects are great
    - Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World, Raging Blast 1 and 2 and PSP DBZ games are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective. ✌☯️

      Aura Burn should've been required for ultimates and deplete when using ults (whether or not u connect).

    • @Anthony-zl7yz
      @Anthony-zl7yz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually aura burn is really exploitable. If you use the dash (only in this game) which does not require energy (like in the psp versions), you can easily run away and watch the enemy just waste all their energy. Once my brothers and I got to a really high level in this game, we stopped using aura burst altogether because it was just a waste of energy if your opponent was smart enough to avoid it.
      Also bd3 had dragon rush and a lot of the characters were just copies of one another. Almost every character got reworked with new combos and animations in this game; like android 17 in this game is absurdly unique but in bd3 he feels the same as he did in bd1 (a basic vegeta clone).

    When playing this game I found the best way to earn zeni is to play fighters road as kid buu or teen gohan and set the difficulty to Z. As kid buu just charge your ki go into hyper mode and spam his human extinction attack. As teen gohan fill your opponent’s fatigue gauge while your ki is maxed then go into hyper mode and spam his ult over and over. It’ll fill your opponent’s fatigue all over again and you can just spam his ult again since his ult doesn’t go into a attack/defense mini game

    I recently beat the game and while I don't outright loathe it, I just didn't have much fun with it either. The game makes 2 steps forward from Budokai 3 while also two steps back. I really disliked the lack of a proper tutorial since it made me confused on how to play the game effectively. I looked up google and videos and none of the stuff I found really helped me.
    The story mode on paper is better than Budokai 3 I will admit and most of the mini games are surprisingly skippable too. My big issue with the game is the AI, and while I get that it's challenging but partner that with the lack of a proper tutorial for this game with that and I was having a miserable time. Some aspects of the story mode just baffle me like how everyone you fight has way more health than you do even at points in the story where the character you are playing as is way stronger. I also don't like the way ultimate moves are handled since in Budokai 3 you had to go into hyper mode, and risk getting fatigued if you miss the attack while in IW especially if your character can regen more than 4 bars of energy, they can do their ultimates like crazy. Your opponents in the story mode loves to spam it too. The final boss with Omega Shenron was kind of funny in that I kept spamming my ultimate due SSJ4 Gogeta not having a Ki meter.
    I also wasn't big on aura mode and find it useless a lot of the time since your overly aggresive opponents can gets so many hits in while using it. I can't find any use for it for the life of me. I am glad Dragon Rush is gone but instead they replaced it with something that I couldn't find much use out of since it felt like my defense and offense was barely going up. Maybe this wasn't explained well or the AI being overly aggressive just made me hesistant of using it.
    Lack of beam struggles I thought wouldn't bother me but it just made fights feel less dynamic to me.
    I wanted to like this game but it just feels weird to me.

    I like the funny edits in this video, and your review was great as always. Actually never noticed that lack of a beam struggle system lol. I played this very late, after the whole battle of z debacle and also believe it is underrated. Cant wait for the Burst limit vid.

    Infinite World was way better than Burst Limit. I bought both games when they came out. I definitely play Infinite World more than Burst Limit. Hell, even the PSP Budokai games were better than Burst Limit.

    Recently I've been revisiting Budokai 3 and also playing IW for the first time (back then I didn't even know this exist) and as much as I dislike Dragon Rush... I think I still prefer Budokai 3. I won't lie the difficulty matters, but still there are bigger issues for me. I don't like the minigames, I don't like the structure of the story mode, and just the general presentation and style I guess, IW doesn't click for me like Budokai 3 does. Still a good game, I probably would've played it back then if I knew about it.

      It came out my junior year of high school and I already beat Tenkaichi 3 (I had the first 2 Tenkaichi's, Budokai 3 and the first 2 Budokai's my brothers always thought I was wasting money and time lol) and once I saw it I pre-ordered it as soon as it was announced. I only got it because it was new but my God was it difficult. It was fun for what it was but I honestly didn't enjoy it like the others now looking back at it as a 32 year old. I'd definitely enjoy it now. Hell, I'd probably enjoy it more than the others. Nowadays I'm mainly enjoying Fighterz but even that's kinda limited.

    I think if Budokai 3 had been delayed, they would've had the GT characters Infinite World got since the game did have alot of Dragon Universe storylines cut from the game as well. Every character in the game was gonna have a what-if? The files for them can be played by putting a PS2 disk of the game into a PC or laptop and accessing the files.

    great analysis! I'm inclined to completely agree, with the one exception of the scaling being removed. I enjoyed manually levelling the skills in B3 - the capsule version of "B4" was unrewarding, impersonal and limiting. Budokai 3 remains my top DB game.

    I feel like Shin Budokai 1 and 2 for the psp were experiments to see if the newer fighting mechanics were good or not. And seeing that those games did really well, they went on ahead with Infinite World. Even it was for players who didn't have access to Burst Limit, it's more like a fully realized version of the psp games and budokai 3 than a burst limit substitute.
    The only thing that stopped IW from being truly great were the lack of beam struggles.

    Haha that Intro is so me. I had no idea about this game, and felt slighted by the Tenkaichi series, didn't really have much interested in them after the first Tenkaichi, it wasn't what I wanted, a 3D Fighter, well it was too 3D lol.

    Very stellar review! I love your reviews of the Budokai franchise and the Tenkaichi franchise, have you considered checking out the game Sagas? It's not as positively remembered but it is a rare DBZ game to have a Co-Op story mode, a rare game to include one-arm Future Gohan, a pretty nice music soundtrack, not to mention it's the only Gamecube game to have Bardock and Broly (plus the only original X-Box DBZ game).
