@@imyou6051 If I were to apply for Coast Guard OCS, How long would you estimate the time of actually going to OCS compared to the day I applied? Would it be a super long wait ?
Excellent video. Thank you for making and sharing this. Leaving for Cape May next week. ET A-school. Looking forward to exploring all the possibilities of the CG.
Julian, thank you for making this. I had connections when plenty of Officers when I was applying for MARGRAD/DCSS/OCS, but many people don't. Even though I'm an ENS in the Navy now (CG decided it just wasn't my time), I'll always continue to watch and support you.
Love seeing you be active on your channel. I've been watching you the past few months because I've had an odd journey of trying to get in the Coast guard. I bought your book and I watch your channel on multiple times a week. Would love to get a word with you to get a few pointers.
@Brandon You’re just focusing on all the negatives. There are countless benefits in the military that you can’t get anywhere else. Stop trying to tell everyone “don’t do it” just because you’re salty about your experience.
@Brandon ... As a parent of a Coast Guard Academy graduate, I somewhat disagree with your opinion. There are many restrictions on your life since you are serving the country. You don't have immediate freedom for many things, but the reward is sweet. My son learned not only his major, but also he learned to lead hundreds of cadets and the academy, now he is leading almost 100 of coastguardsmen in a legend class cutter. With this experiences, he is getting job offers from from private sector companies for upper level management positions. He is considering staying at Coast Guard, or moving to other federal agencies after the mandatory service. At 23, I love to see him having many options in his life.
@@Big-4 .. My son is class of '23. He is working in a cutter now. He hasn’t decided what to do after the 5 year mandatory service. There are so many opportunities from the federal level to private sectors and defense industry. What’s your son’s major?
Thanks this is super helpful, because there is very little info on Coast Guard Officer career paths. Just that you have response ashore, response afloat, etc. But what does that mean???
Hey I’m about to graduate college with my bachelors degree and strongly looking into applying for the OCS! I am hoping to stay within supply chain and logistics! In the enlisted jobs it looks like they have the SK and Operations specialist. When I was looking at the Officer jobs I couldn’t find anything that was similar? Could you help point me in the right direction?
He mentioned he was selected and went to flight school. How is it possible that he was even qualified if he didn't have the eyesight to fly? Don't they make candidates take a flight 1A physical? Maybe I don't fully understand this process.
Im planning on becoming an officer in the coast guard. I haven't been able to find a video like this. So thankful for you posting this.
If you have questions I might be able to answer them.
@Stephen H. Hoover if you meet the criteria then yes
