Thank you so much for the video! 😃 Just received my pump today... I was so exhausted and drain today for some reason so I really didn’t feel like reading the instruction manual. But you did a great job explaining everything and giving extra tips for use! Kudos to you girl! ❤️👍🏾 😁 ... By the way, my first try I put it on let down/stimulation mode but kept it on L01 suction because I had been using a manual pump so my nipples were a little more sensitive.

Thank you for making this! I’ve had the Spectra S2 for a year and a half and with my second baby I seriously couldn’t figure out what everything meant, even after reviewing the instructions several times. And I’m pretty sure that contributed to me losing my supply (he was unable to latch to breast due to Pierre Robin Sequence, so I had to pump exclusively while he was in the NICU if I wanted to give him my milk). I now have a 2 week old daughter, and again, I was struggling with this pump. It was working “enough” with my previous knowledge of it, but now that you taught me how to use it correctly, I’m able to get MUCH more milk each time I pump. Thank you so much again!

I've had no exaggeration 15 lactation consults. At my last one with an MD who is a world renowned LC, she said that this one has better results for low milk supply than the Medela Symphony (which I've always rented). A few days in of using this I'm only getting 1/2 what I get with the symphony. I'll try staying in let down mode for the full session next. Thanks for your tips!
Oh my momma! I'm sorry you had to go through that many. I will say I don't think any pump is really one size fits all. It very much depends on you as an individual. If it doesn't end up working for you, let me know! I'd be happy to help you choose another. Fingers crossed it does though!(:

I got this pump as a gift and hated it because it was on high all the time! Ripped my nips! Spectra is a well loved pump brand so I want to learn how to use it. Im also working on re lactating so I hope that this pump can help

Great video. My membrane in the back flow doesn't expand like you showed when attached to me. It only expands fully when not attached to anything. Any suggestions?
Make sure your parts are completely dry and securely on. If that doesn't work, I would email Spectra asking for a replacement(:

If my back flow does not look like that -- it doesn't go nearly as far in and out -- what should I do? My just barely goes back and forth.
I would contact Spectra, momma. It may not be an issue but I'm not 100%. They're super helpful!

Thank you so much for this I had baby 4 days ago my milk started last night my boobs are hard it hurts. With my previous kids I had the madela pump which is different. So I was having issues with the spectra but thanks to you I got it now.

How often do you recommend changing parts if you only pump 1-2 times a day?
I wouldn’t replace parts unless they’re damaged, broken or it’s a used pump (someone else has used it before you)!

Darí Santos I got the Spectra s2 & it was not strong enough. I got clogs & almost got mastitis. Momma Alia compares this to the Medela & mentions that Spectra doesn’t get her clogs. Get tried & true Medela.
I have heard that the stimulation button should be pressed at the beginning and end. Can someone confirm?
Just ordered mine through insurance and am waiting for it to arrive! Is there a pump bag that you'd recommend for the S2?

Same here. I stay in stimulation mode the whole time. Thought it was just me, but it's good to know that you do the same. I tried to pump today and it wasn't sucking my nipples (if you get what I mean)...do you know why? .
Hm I'm not sure momma. I'd double check all your parts, replace the white duckbill valves and if that doesn't work, give them a call(:
So I figured it out. When I washed the parts I forgot to put back the white duckbill thing lol
Also there are two different size cones one is a 24 and another is 28 if one pump is working and the other isn’t that’s why
4:30!! My boob 😂lol.

Thanks for the video. Im like many others , torn between the medela pump in style and this spectra s2. Which bottles did you use for this pump? Ive seen alot of reviews regarding the spectra bottles. Everyone seems to use other brands. Thanks in advance

my backflow protector does not suction like yours idk why and I always have an issue keeping the flang centered on my nipple I struggle with this pump
I’d call their customer service about the backflow protector! It sounds like your flange may need resized!

Happy to help! The tubing shouldn’t need washed or sterilized unless it comes in contact with milk or you experience mold! I wash parts every day and sterilize once in a while.

When I was in the hospital I received ameda pump parts in order to use the hospital pumps. The parts were mine to take home, do you know if I can use those with this pump?
It would depend on the parts. If you’re able to slip the Spectra tubing on somewhere, it may be possible. But I’m not sure momma ):
@@MommaAlia 😊😊😊 turns out the tubing for the ameda flanges fits on the spectra (the spectra tubing was a little too big for the ameda flange) I like the shape of the ameda flanges better for me.
Do you recmend this pump? It seems involved. Is there another pump better for 1st times moms?
I recommend it to someone who has sensitive nipples or has tried other ones and found them to be too rough. My favorite pump and the one I recommend the most is the Lansinoh SmartPump

Does the back flow protector ever come in contact with milk?
It can if your milk makes it there but that's it's purpose. It's suppose to come in to contact and stop milk from going any further.

hi I have to buy my pump out of pocket for my insurance won't cover my pump. do you recommend this one if one is buying out of pocket or perhaps a different one? since I am paying for it, I just want to get the most bang for my buck. I've seen this one on Walmart.com and wanted to purchase it
This is a great pump if you have sensitive nipples. If you don't I would go with a Lansinoh Signature Pro (which you may be able to find in store for really cheap) or Lansinoh SmartPump(:
Question...I know you don't like to really compare or give your personal opinion about pumps..but I would be buying the pump out of pocket..I have the pump in style currently and I get about 2ounces.. but if I pump more I get less milk..any way I wanted to get a pump that would be more transportable in your personal experience would you recommend the s1 the lansonal or the medela free style...
At first you will get less milk with pumping more often but after a week or so, you should see a steady increase. Do you feel like the Medela is too rough for you? Do you have trouble emptying with it? Is there enough suction or could you use more?
Can you explain what exactly is "cycle"? And do you know if they sell something to make this cordless?

The cycle rate is basically how frequently the pump creates suction and releases it. It can be really fast or really slow, whatever you prefer. I believe there's a battery pack made by a third party company! The S1 pump has it built in too

Tiffany S The let down mode mimics the baby suckling to cause the milk to start flowing. The expression mode is after the let down when your milk starts to flow more. Once that milk flows you move from let down mode “70” to whichever expression cycle your comfortable. Hope this helps.
