- In this video we check out the latest release Daiwa Seaborg 300J electric fishing reel. This compact little reel is going to be a ripper for fishing in depths up to 100mt deep. The reel is finished to a high standard and is made in Japan.

I bought the larger 500 because I'm disabled in both hands but was able to pull big lingcod up from 320' easy!! I love the reel. Please remember everyone who buys one of these great reels, print the English manual BEFORE you go fishing... I had to totally wing it first trip. Can't wait to buy this 300J, many thanks for the video TackleWest!!!

Prior to that I downloaded the English manual and found out the display can be set to English. 😃

bought this one direct from Japan when it first came out, I used it exclusively for Chinook Salmon. I absolutley love it. would like to try the newer G300J

What pound line are you using and also what fish do you recommend this for? Would it be ok for tilefish and barrel fish up to 30lbs?
easily it can handle 30 pound Ive been fishing mine for over a year on the pacific coastal waters and landed a dozen fish over 20lbs easily at light drag. I used 300yds of P4 and translates as 55lb braid, I can use any topshot I want. I believe it would serve well as any as a 30lb class reel and be capable of landing fish 40lbs plus. And the G300J is supposed to have a motor 4x as powerful. I watched a Japn video and a guy hooked and landed an 80lb YFT with that reel.
I use a 20lb 9-strand braid on mine for 600 feet ++ deep

What is the difference between the 300J in this video and and the g300J?
The G300J is a newer version based on the same reel however it features one huge improvement, that is a newer model motor that is claimed to be 4x more powerful than the 300J motor is and it is as the Japanese intro video describes it. “LIGHT MONSTER”. I can only imagine how much more fun the G model would be to fish.
I am trying to find out how I can get my hands on just the G motor to see if it is a direct replacement or if you have to buy the G300J whole reel to get it.
Who makes the line counter and tensioner / spool holder that your using??

I just got mine & you can actually change English language if you want to just as the previous comment have said.

What does the model with a letter G mean? 300? vs G300J
G means latest version with more power….ok for blue fin tuna up to 100lb range
How abou seaborg 300MJL? Retrieve power seems like more powerful but drag less than 300J ?
And in my country 300MJL more expensive than G300JL
What is the best rod and line to pair with this reel? we are in the United Arab Emirates where is best to buy the complete kits

I use madmouse with spiral guides they pair perfictly caught many 30 + kilo amberjacks with ease .
You mentioned P3 / P4. Whats that in mm.
PE3/4 is roughly 30lb to 40lb braid
I used 20lb on mine for 600ft plus deep for fast sinking..
