I was curious why Diawa didn’t offer branded batteries for their electric reels. My understanding of Diawa’s Mfg. Warranty is it voids warranty if reel electronics damaged due to use of an external battery when the reel was not directly wired into the boat’s electrical system. Since I don’t own a boat and rely solely on open party sport boats, not prepared to spend $$$ on a setup just to be told too bad if something happens to the reel. I am looking hard at that Piscifun Kraken, but I too want to see how their battery holds up.
@jimvin6877 We have used the 10,000mah battery on a very long deep drop trip or two and never had it run out. Those trips usually showing 75-80% battery left at the end of the trip! We are looking forward to testing out the 5000mah battery this season starting very soon. That Kraken reel is a beast for it size and we are very happy with it. Me and my girlfriend just bought the kranken X reel for a tile fishing trip. The gear stripped out almost immediately on my girlfriends reek and then mine did the same towards the end if the trip. I do not recommend these reels. I'm going to see what I can do about warranty with these reels but I would never rely on them for a fishing trip again.

Will charging the batteries between drops or later in the day from generator on boat shortened battery life or do you have to run battery all the way down before charging? Thanks
@jamesjolly3299 No sir it won't hurt, but I doubt it would help too much. We've tested all but the 5000MAh Piscifun on all day trips and never even got close to running out of juice. Mid may kicks off our tilefish season and we might get out on a grouper trip before then to try it out. I use a small stainless steel hose connector to hold onto the reel it's fits perfectly to both the wire harness connector and the female connector on the tamacon reel with a right angle connector, only bad thing the screw on nut is not the right size
Awesome video I am looking for a el reel what reels do you think is good and still small. Here in Norway it’s not the best options but they sell the Tanacom 750 the new 800and the older 1000. But I want one little lighter? I don’t mind buy outside of Norway. And is the 5000mah battery the smallest on the market?

i just came across "bloody battery", it's a little pack that velcros to rod. so far that style is my favorite, but expensive. right now i'm using my LiFe powerwheels battery due to the size and weight. don't think i wanna mess with plugs on the boat, for me it's prob a bit excessive.

So far it's only died on one trip that was a 2 part trip with a limit of bluelines first at 300'+ and then goldens and rosies at 900'! It died on the last drop of the day. No big deal there. @craigcohen9989 yeah, I'm fussing about it with them too. But I'll tell you what, the little 5000MAH battery does a great job! So far it's only died on one trip that was a 2 part trip with a limit of bluelines first at 300'+ and then goldens and rosies at 900'! It died on the last drop of the day. No big deal there. l'm thinking Piscifun discontinued the 10000Mah because there were some issues with it. . .l will probably order another 5000mah battery from Piscifun. . .

@mrxiong2567 easily! Every battery we;ve used has lasted the day including the 5000MAH Piscifun unit. We were surprised but it did great deep dropping to 800 on an all day trip! Check out the kraken combo here: shrsl.com/44uxl That battery will attach to shimano, Diawa and others as well.

@scottnra Thank you. My cousin bought a 50-Ah lithium battery. I thought it was a little overkilled for a 1-day trip.
@@mrxiong2567 The OP is using 5AH and 10AH batteries, and said it last all day. 50AH will last more than 50 days. Definitely overkill. 🤣
@@david-iam Yeah, that's for the advice. I ended up buying a 30Ah. But had I known, maybe a 15Ah should be plenty enough for a full day.

U could wear those batterys on your belt with a proper lenghth cord
@tgshort7638 You sure can. Or even with a shoulder strap for a water bottle. Lots of options with these. I hope you hit the subscribe button and the bell icon to turn on notifications. This is why I don't use screw type battery, without cables.
I hated it the first time I saw it.
just put your battery into a small backpack. I use a 12v 20ah lithium phosphate. And fish all day. no problem
@tomasito292 That small soft cooler method shown in the video works great too and you don't need to wear it to keep it out of the way. I can see how mobility would be very good in a backpack or even a fanny pack though!

How are you traveling with these batteries. Airlines only let you carry on about 160wh or 10ah
