Been a big fan of Dave and the Pathfinder school for years. I like that he finally came out with a Nalgene style bottle. There are a lot of accessories for those. I have seen water purifiers, for instance, that are designed to screw directly onto the top of a ~1L Nalgene bottle.
I ordered this titanium kit a few days ago and it is in the mail. As for me it will be a bit more functional than the canteen. I may drill a couple of holes in the cup's rim to add a small wire bail so I can hang it over a fire. Again Dr. Ernie, another informative video. Thanks, I look forward to your reviews.
You are spot on about the Alcohol stove , it's the biggest piece of junk a person can find. I got one , used it one time and tossed it. It gave me a strong negative feeling about any of their products. As far as the sound the Pathfinder Titanium lid makes when unscrewing it , My Keith titanium bottle makes the identical sound. Apparently it's common to the titanium items.
I was afraid I was the only person with a "dud" Pathfinder alcohol stove. I have a lot of Pathfinder products and like them very much, (including the new titanium canteen kit), but the alcohol stove was a fail. Thanks for sharing! :-)
Own most of the titanium gear from the pathfinder school. Including 2 of these bottle kits. Excellent piece of kit. Thank you ernie for all the great content!
Love my SS Nalgene and GSI 750ML mug. Much Cheaper and not too much heavier. I made my own fancy feast Alcohol stove, based on one of your videos! Keep these videos coming, Doc!
100% that's the reason I wanted to go with a longer slender bottle like that because they will fit in almost every backpack I have. One of my backpacks that I had purchased literally came with a nalgene bottle that fit in left or right side of the pack. This just solidifies my decision to get one of these style.
Have you ever used the aftermarket Nalgene lid from Human Gear called the Cap-Cap? Think plastic Nalgene lid with a smaller diameter lid on top. Similar in diameter to military canteen. Much easier to take a drink with getting more than a mouthful.
Ive had several pathfinder stainless steel, burners , for me and my children, all have worked well , to me like my trangias do . But maybe ive been lucky .
I have the keith version of that, 550 toaks nests on the bottom pretty tight and as you said, it'll still slip in the bottle holder on my pack. I don't like the lid on the keith brand as well, it has a 1/4 twist lid that is easy to cross thread
! Best filter bottle combo: this bottle or the Boundless voyage 1050ml bottle, and The Red Line virus protection filter from Aquamira water filter from the Waterbasics bottle have the same thread so the filter and adapter go straight into the titanium bottle
It's made by a cheaper manufacturer (still great quality nonetheless) keith is a very well established company who put slightly better grade materials and better fit and finish overall. For everything else it doesn't matter what logo is laser etched onto it they all get made in the same place lol
I'll stick with my Kleen Kanteens, 40 ounce bottles and my Stanley stainless steel cup, I found a big one. I would never spend that much for two items. Just to save a few ounces. The stretch marks in the cup, are due to the metal not being hot enough when it was formed.
Honestly it's hard to beat that combo when it boils down to price and functionality and I can attest to the durability of kleen canteen I've had mine for 5 years.
Great video I beat the crap out of my gear nothing lasts forever but I find the pathfinder gear even made in China holds up more than I ever thought it would
If you are looking for a titanium Nalgene - styled bottle, then you would love the Vargo Titanium para-Bottle. It's pricey: but when you see how high quality it is then you'll think it was worth it. 32 oz, of titanium awesomeness: it's the best!
Hi Ernie love your channel and all the stove testing that you do. I’m your neighbor to the west of you. I have to disagree with you on the SRO stove. It’s heavy, but the stove never skip a beat up in 3 sisters mountains. Take care bud. Vic...
The Pathfinder products are great. But the Keith/Heavy Cover products are superior and better made. Still, I really like both (and I own both) but if I was going to name the best, I'd say it is the Heavy Cover.
Got mine a month or so ago. I was super disappointed in the weight of the bottle lid. That thing has to weigh as much as, if not more, than the bottle itself. Fine quality otherwise, but it defeats the purpose of having an ultralight titanium bottle.
the stainless steel version has a better handle, a lid that stays on better, strainer holes in the lid, and a piece of metal that can clip in for using a stick to get in on and off a fire that fits the bottle and cup. wish the titanium version had all this then it would be perfect
We as viewers appreciate your honesty such as when you said the pathfinder alcohol stove is a dud. I watch for facts and honest opinion. So far that's what I've seen. If not you hide it well. LOL
Titanium is also a horrible surface to clean food and drink residue off. Basically, unless something is non-stick, I'm not taking it camping, as I'm absolutely not interested in having to use my precious water supply to clean the food scraps off my cooking/boiling vessel...
Great review I really like your channel but I am really trying to avoid actively supporting buying anything in Meade in China as much as I can, especially if there is an better made alternative made in the US or a country that supports human rights.
That noise is the threads not meeting up properly. I have Pathfinder stuff and found threading / leaking to be a problem to some degree. On some of the threading it actually seems to be inside out, ie, the threads on the inside of the bottle/canteen mouth that never touch the cap threads are more pronounced than the ones that do. This is actually opposite of how they should be imho. Check that out and see if that applies to the Ti. I am happy w/a lot of Pathfinder SS items.....but the threading is not a strong point. Sounds like the Ti threads might be the same.
Isn't Bot around 5oz? And isn't Bot too heavy? World needs a sealable 3oz pot, not an 8oz pot. Lid can be plastic, but it must be watertight in the pack.
Thanks for the video Just so you know Doc. I keep liking your videos but its not sticking! If I leave your channel and come back it's right back to not liked👍... hope your not missing out on a bunch of likes .
Yeah nah. There are better cheaper options out there. Tbh I mostly use a NATO bottle and civvie titanium cup to boil in. Or a Brit 58 pattern same deal with plastic cup as well, nice for any hot cold liquid. Tbh sure save weight where you can. But on a cup to cook drink out of, or security of water....Ive had Nalgene crack in the bush. Sure lifetime gaurantee etc. But it aint holding water at the time when I need it. Water is life. Carry what you want. But to me, a few extra oz grams to know my bottles wont break or leak, Army issue bottles. I'll argue there are many better options than military issue. But not on actual bottles
The inside of my pathfinder ti cup looks like a scrotum on a winter day. Wrinkly as ever, I like the bottle but wish I just saved my money. There is maybe 1 ounce of weight difference between that bottle and the Nalgene I've carried forever.
Ok, paused at 55 sec, and I'll already wade in and say hell no, it is not worth $100, unless you got bucks to throw away, for something that's hard to boil.

Bec careful of plastic leaching into your food and water.
I have two of them. Love them. Please do a test on their bedroll grill. In Joy

👍 Agreed SRO has very good products for the price charged. Regarding their alcohol stove, I had one and sold it; sticking with my Trangia.

also if you want to boil with the bottle, you can use the snuffer from the trangia stove as a lid
Well worth the money. I use it for just about everything.
What size is the cup for nesting bottle ? Very nice review thanks
Keith bottle and cup is better than canteen set I have both been using the bottle and cup wayyy longer than the Pathfinder peoples!!(=✌💚
keith makes very good titanium products i have military canteen and cup from them. it is perfect.
@@TheAcidheat yup me too and the 1liter bottle quick cap Is AMAZING with nesting cup check out my really old covid coffee video I show both!😁✊🔥
@@Canadian_Craftsman i checked your vid i replied there to u 🙂👍

The arrowhead sasquatch logo is cool.

Noticed pathfinder has a rectangular set now in their own kit , last I seen was cheaper than the Keith set

I put together a 64 oz bottle and a 48 oz cup , made it up exactly like the 32 oz kit , me being a diabetic, I use drink more liquid than most people.
Lmao this vid hit my feed 9x as a notification lol that's funny to me I must have been meant to watch this .
Does the Grayl 24 oz water filter bottle fit in that cup?

Figured you’d be floating on a raft over there . Lake Charles has been getting creamed . Have a good one

I actually like the stove I ended up giving away my others.
Nutmeg 1 half teaspoon and vitamin B1 Benfotiamine
Can you fit an isopro canister in the cup?
Looks like re-badged "boundless voyage" gear on aliexpress

Uhhhhhhjhj!!! How MUCH does the nalgene style bottle weigh!!!?????
Not so much about weight as flexibility to use over a heat source or open fire.
🌲🦅🌲 thank you for sharing 🌲🦌🌲

also a pouch for it that would double as a cozzy so you can use the bottle as a hot water bottle on the colder nights would be great!!

Replace that cap with the nalgene on the fly cap. No more noise!
I agree w/you but for the price of Ti quality should be much better.
$100 for a titanium water bottle? I’ve seen 750ml titanium water bottles on Amazon go for $35-$40…? Thoughts?
It's a shame it's not dimensional the same as a Nalgene.
They've since discontinued their titanium line....
Not replying my HC for that...!
The stove has always been garbage but the rest of their products are great
Damn angle grinders! 😂
Great review I really like your channel but I am really trying to avoid actively supporting buying anything in Meade in China as much as I can, especially if there is an better made alternative made in the US or a country that supports human rights.
If you find titanium made in the US let me know
Try snow peak . Far superior products and they're made in Japan (our allies)

В Китае стоит гораздо дешевле , цены на изделия из титана очень завышены.
Titanium is for sensitive types …..only good for boiling water burns everything else . Stainless steel for me

while i do love pathfinder stuff that lid makes this a no go. that sound is horrible
Aliexpress 750 ml mug and lid @ $20
Nalgene 1 liter water bottle @ $7
So I am sorry to say Dave ripped you off
My answer : no.
Hahaha. Humans are a very noisy species, darn near impossible to get away from them.
Keith made in China:/
Same bottle on AliExpress for $69, Boundless Voyage 1050 ml
Does it fit inside the cup an msr 113gr gas ?
