    Good video, Chris...EXCEPT...when spooling the line off of the new spool, the line should be coming off the line spool OVER, NOT UNDER the the spool. Pulling it from under the spool is the complete opposite of the line memory on the spool and will cause major line issues on the water. When the line is coming off the spool over the top it is going onto the reel exactly as it comes off of the spool.

      Thank you so much for that, I realized that was a mistake I made after spooling, fortunately I didn’t make the same mistake spooling my other reel. Ill keep this pinned so others can see! Thank you again!

      that’s why his line is all in the middle instead of spread how it’s supposed to be

      This is why my baitcaster has so much memory in less than 10 times fishing ponds 😂😭

      Jesus thank you for this… I was about to go crazy that my line wouldn’t wrap nicely. That was exactly my issue. I started over with the spool the correct way and it went on like a dream!

    I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well th-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.

    This was super helpful- Thank you for sharing! We just lost all of our line from a monster fish about 50 miles offshore from Mazatlan, Mexico. Gotta get our reel respooled and ready to for the next one! Thank you again!

    Chris, thank you for the very informative video. I never thought about using tape as you did. I will be doing the same this spring when I put a new line on my reel. Best regards, Bob

    Lesson learned.spool you a little backing first and tie to it in case you get spooled because that way it won't be tied directly to the reel and possibly either damage your reel or pull it off the rod because I've seen it done many times when people hook on big Tarpon,Cobia and Kings.

    Little difficult to see how you tied the clinch knot. Easier to demonstrate if you bring it back through the reel eye and then tied it. Thanks for video.

    I would suggest using Golf tape instead of electrical tape. Because Golf tape won't leave the spool sticky if you decide to put on new line later. Just what I use Happy Fishing guys and gals!!!!

    I find it easier to go outside tie one side down and walk as far as i want it then i reel it in as tightly as possible,you cant beat that because it pulls the line so tight that its easier for the line to come out when casting.Simplicity in full effect.You dont need no nothing.

    I heard people say that you can have a bad time if you don't wet your spool. What does that mean, and are there any circumstances that you wouldn't have to do that for?

  • @stevefowler3398
    @stevefowler3398 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I don't tie onto the reel. I use double sided tape. The line GLUES onto it, then wraps neatly over for a few turns.
    If a fish has run all the way to the end of your line, a knot ain't going to stop it.
