  • Welcome to "The Daily Drawing". In an effort to combat creative block and broaden our visual library I have an exercise for us. Each day (Mon. through Fri.) I will pick a new subject from my Daily Drawing Jar. Then you and I will go and find visual reference of that subject and spend 15-20 minutes drawing our own versions. This will be a fun way to broaden our artistic scope and hopefully improve our visual library.

I like the fact that you are forcing the artist to find, observe, and draw their own concept of the subject.

Even creatures we may initially find creepy are in fact visually captivating when we take the time to observe and draw them.

I've been there too. Not so long ago I wanted to draw giant cockroaches for my DnD custom monsters. It was scary because I always though their mouths are confusing and not clear. Turns out it all makes sense and they are in fact compeling I must say.

One of the best teachers on TH-cam!! Thank you enormously for your tutorials! I can't express my joy when I came across your tutorials on your website! Thank you so so much for your support towards artists that would not have had the chance to learn from any of those 600 dollars plus tutorials that teach half of the content you teach in one of your videos in a course. It's just ridiculous the amount of profit some make in the name of naive students who don't know were to find a good teacher with an altruistic way of thinking. I wish more people will come across teachers like you. What a rare gem you are!

I learned that the veins in their wings are thicker where they connect to one another, and that they are kinda shaped like shards of glass. This is a nice exercise! After this, going back to your comfort zone will feel like a relief!

Can you make a video on what makes a good reference and what doesn't, I know sometimes references can have camera distortion, maybe help us differentiate and overcome making proportion mistakes that would be amazing

Aaron!! You are genuinely inspiring and talented at what you do. If it's OK to ask, would you be interested in taking on a very drawing challenge from one of your subscribers? And if you are interested, I would like to offer one. 😊
