“Gattaca“ is not one of the usual futuristic films in which there is little substance or bored the viewer .. we have a frightening Ethan Hawke (his best interpretation in my opinion) and an impeccable Jude Law. It is a very particular movie for its themes, such as the creation of social classes only for a "scientific" foundation, and it narrates this theme very well.
The soundtrack: i think it's the best of Michael Nyman, able to immerse yourself in this world from the first moment.
"For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home."
🎦 Film: Gattaca, 1997 (Andrew Niccol).
🎼 Song: The Departure (from “Gattaca“ Soundtrack, Michael Nyman).
I do not own the rights of the movie or music.

You're good at this... Can you tackle "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover"?
I cancel the request... I just watched the trailer....
Gattaca has an unrivalled message about how far the human spirit can always go in spite of all the oppressions of society.
on point
A message many could learn from in times when there is a perceived level of it, without it having been a reality in decades.
@@The_Lucent_Archangel its sad how little we go down this path
"I never saved anything for the way back."
Love it
I pretty much assumed that Vincent did not have long and he analogised dying out in the stars.
So beautiful.
"You're going to miss your flight, Vincent"
Such an underrated movie. One of my absolute favorites to have ever been made.
It’s in my top 10
It's one of those films that really takes decades to full digest
Gattaca, one of the most beautiful movies ever, and this song is just a masterpiece. I was only 16 years old when i bought this DVD, (one of the first that I bought with my own money) This movie changed my life and my way of watching movies.
You should pick up the physical release in 4K UHD, it looks incredible. Love this flick.
For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home.
This will do your noodle in: Would Vincent ("he who triumphs" in Latin) have overcome his supposed limitations if society hadn't repeatedly told him he was defective, thereby throwing him a challenge? And would his brother Anton have lost to Vincent if society hadn't told him he was genetically superior, thereby giving Anton a sense of smug entitlement, and stripping him of any need to better himself? This is why it's always an interaction between nature and nurture, never just one.
Very perceptive way to look at the dynamics of their lives. Both as siblings and in their individual struggles. Thank you! ❤️👍🏼
I still remember seeing this in theaters and it changed me on that day but I never understood how, because I was too young to articulate. Having aged all these years, im fully able to come to terms with the messages in this film. I still watch it once a year. It's timeless.
This movie tells us that if someone wants something bad, even against adverse odds, they can get it.
"I never saved anything for the swim back."
Makes me cry every time due to the beauty of this movie.
The name gattaca uses the four letters G, A, T, C which are used to represent the 4 building blocks of DNA: guanine, adenine, thymine, cytosine.
There are several films with the use of these four letters for DNA, including "Blade Runner 2049" for example. However, I think Gattaca is the most artistic film that focuses on them and uses them to reinterpret in a philosophical way as well.
I've watched this movie a double-digit number of times. İt's my best
it never gets old
Wonderfully edited. Gattaca is an underrated classic.
Questo film mi ha affascinato da sempre .. fantastico Ethan Hawke, divino Jude Lowe e magnifica Uma Thurman sulle note di una struggente melodia..
Sorry to have to tell you that but you are fascinated by a picture devoided of sense and content. All this movie was realised with computer. This is a pure bullshit. Welcome in the world of informatic zombies
Ce film est un chef d oeuvre
Gattaca una película un tanto olvidada pero para mí fue fascinante la lucha de un hombre contra todas las adversidades, la banda sonora 😢
Definitely an underrated movie!
I fully agree, unfortunately very few people know it.
Beautiful, majestic, sad, hopeful, beautiful.
Wut a great film! Visionary, brilliant script & performances, great lines, magic soundtrack... MASTERPIECE!
This has to be one of the Best Sci-Fi Film ever made, everything about it, the cast, the music, the way it's shot, the storyline, the special effects, the old cars revamped in to electric. So ahead of its time. When Jude Law gets into the Garbage furnace then shows Ethan Hawk Taking off, to that Music, without watching this video above this comment I can picture it and it make the hairs on the back of my neck. Chokes me every..time.
I feel the same, what, 10, 15 years after first seeing , hearing it. A true masterpiece 👏just looked up when this came out, over 20 years ago....still hits the same. Nyman is a genius
…..also, carefully watch what happens to the appearance of Jerome’s much reviled silver swimming medal as the flames rise…..
This movie had me on tears
OMG Wow shocking...needs to watch this twice, godspeed all brave travelers
simply beautiful
Un des plus beaux films qu'il m'a été donné de voir 😢et une bande originale à tombé par terre !!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Vous n'avez surement pas du regarder beaucoup de films depuis votre récente? naissance
Always gets me.
obra maestra...de sienpre para sienpre,,
wonderful soundrack for a masterpiece movie
This clip !Ade me tear up. I lived a life like this. Grew up on the streets, the woman I loved, people told me I'd never reach her. Broke, shivering in the cold. Stealing food. Searching sewer grates for change. Losing fingerprints from chemical burns. Threatened with guns and knives for simply looking for food. Faking my way into office jobs. Till one day I truly became the man I wanted to be. Now I have a cushy job. Houses. A pretty wife. Businesses. But when I close my eyes I still remember her sometimes. I'd walk miles just to see her. All I could afford were a few cherry candies to give her. I know she loved me too. But I wasn't good enough then. Sadly, now, noone is ever good enough for me.
Powerful. We nearly share the same story. Love, brother!
You are in my prayers. You're a warrior. God bless
You were ALWAYS good enough...always.
This is nothing close to this movie. Yours is a sad romantic film.
What a movie....what a masterpiece.....thank you for this!
Hi...For me who lives for film this underated masterpiece is one of the best Sci-Fi films evermade. Don't let the broad term 'Sci-Fi' put you off, because this is as far away from Star Wars/Trek as you can get. Director, Writer Andrew Niccol's first feature length movie will, if you are 'moved' by film, it will leave you in pieces. It has everything going for it, in true Futurstic/Bladerunner style it Niccol uses classic style, haircuts, clothes, cars, 90's LA infrastructure and best of all Frank Lloyd Wright's timeless architecture to reinforce the future...Look no further than Rick Deckard's apartment is a real building, and I think, and hope, is in LA. I watch this film once a year. no more, no less for fear of diluting it's sheer pleasure and it's (not sentimental) but incredibly moving finale, strongly reinforced by Michael Nyman's bespoke sountrack - 'The Departure' ...Timeless Hollywood for me...Sad though I am to say it...out of all the big guns, only Amazon have the balls to host it and are renting it for £3.49 GBP...that doesn't buy a drink!...
Obra de arte ❤
poor man, you have been fooled by Davos
Obra maestra...
the life he never done he give himself to him to fullfill it wow

If this movie doesn’t break your heart, your soul is empty.
This movie makes my heart soar!!!!!!
It's a timeless classic , David vs Goliath, human persistence overcoming all obstacles. This movie and soundtrack are what is good in Hollywood. What is good in humans. It helps restore my faith in good. Love it!
TBH it mends a broken one
Mine's empty ig
It breaks it and heals it

Le septième art au sommet...
Ce n'est rien de le dire !!! ❤
Great vid.

Another example of closed minded, liberal activist, robot film critics getting it extraordinarily wrong. A masterpiece of a movie.
And soundtrack.
