Thank you so much for this video. I use the black and white a lot and they have run out before all my other colors. Adding only water lessened the intensity of the black, so I use added some black acrylic along with the water and it worked. Don't need to buy a new one. Happy I found this video.

did you know , you can make a new batch of watered down acrylic paint and water and add the mix?? i have had the same black pen for years!!!

Hi, don't know if you will see this given that your comment is from 4 years ago, but do you know the mixture you use of acrylic and water when you refill?

@@collinmccormack I've just started getting into airbrushing, and i reduce my cheap 50cent walmart water-based acrylic paints by 2:1 distilled water to paint to make it spray through a .3mm tip. works decently as cheap paint for practice.
I haven't refilled any posca pens, but judging by the thickness of the paint, i would assume you could thin standard acrylics with a 1:1 ratio. you only need some distilled water to thin the paint and some time to experiment..
For more vivid colors and better coverage, use a better acrylic paint like Golden or Liquitex and by extension, you can use their mediums to achieve better reduction than plain old water. As an example, you can reduce your paint with some GAC100 and distilled water.
I can imagine 16oz of medium and a gallon of distilled water with your paint of choice would refill several dozen markers.

Some pens from Asia, particularly Japan is what I'm thinking of, you open the pens by turning right, not left like in the US.

I just wanna thank you so much for introducing me to these amazing paint pens! I absolutely love them and would have never known about them until I starting watching your videos. I have ordered 3 sets of multiple colors, 3M 5M and a pack of 8 bold point. They are awesome pens. And thanks for the refill tip too.

Awesome trick, works like a charm! The black Posca marker is the best I've found so far, the colour is a nice solid black (as opposed to dark grey with Bic markers) and it doesn't bleed through paper, so I'm glad it can be revived. Thanks for sharing!

Great video! Cool video most pens, mechanical pencils , gel pens, and markers are assembled for the ink cartridge to pop out like the Bic pens and Papermate ones plus Pilot G2s to refills or reuse :) I replace the ink cartridges:) Or its just a easy throw them whole in the recycle bin since the recycle sorting process will grind up the plastic and magnetically separate metal particles to remelt and reuse for something new!:)

Elyse Fournier just recently did a video on how to refill Posca Pens with Fluid Inks, also water based. Messy, yes. Not just watered down paint, but the higher pigment inks. It was just the way you showed it. Why aren't all paint pens (acrylic/water-based) made refillable? Or maybe I just haven't found the secrets yet...

if you want to recycle you gota use liquid acrylic varnish. if you use water then the line appears the same but it wont be able to cover over other colors at all because the pigment is weak.

I read on ehow that you are to use 1/4 paint thinner and 3/4 acrylic paint for the rest. It said to use an old dry erase marker with the felt inside removed. That wasn't going to work because the chisel tip doesn't have a housing to block and throttle the liquid. So i took apart an dried up Elmers Painters pen (which is the same as these picaso markers) and use that. It sort of works, although it's not that great. I wish I would have tried this video first considering the water based markers.

Best thing to do if you don't have pillers just take the nib of the pen add water into the pen (very less) put the nib back on take some paper to wipe out the extra water leaking out of the pen shake it (some paint might come out) then use it it's fresh and watery like it is new

Hi, I’ve not tried this yet as I don’t have any pens that are empty, but I will definitely try it the next time one runs out.
Also, I wanted to ask you if there was some product, or just hot water and a q tip that will remove all the black ink from the barrel because I want to see if I can make it so that I can put in a completely different shade of paint (from a tube of any paint and, this may be something that you can answer - does it have to be water colour paint tubes or does it not matter what type of paint you use?), and then have that paint work in a pen receptacle. So that I can have my own complete different colour paint pen in any colour I choose? Do you know how to completely clean and get rid of any existing original colour? Nail polish remover? I would be very grateful for any hints on how I could do that 😃
