Great video. Used the ferry as a shortcut from Ohio to Wildwood many times. Thanks. Hope you get well soon. Dave

Front is bow, back is stern, left is port, and right is starboard.

I don’t know if the ferry was there when I lived there ‘68 - ‘72, I don’t remember anything down there. Where Beach drive and Lincoln blvd intersected- I used to call that the END OF THE WORLD! That always made my mother laugh but to a toddler it sure seemed like the end of the world. I loved it when my mom would take me on the back of her bicycle all the way down to Douglas park. It seemed more wild then and a lot less people. I don’t remember the big ferry terminal

Hi OY. The Ferry began its operations on July 1, 1964. But I'm sure the traffic back in those days was no where near what it is today. Occasionally you see articles in the paper about some group pushing for funding to build a bridge across the 17 mile stretch of the Delaware similar to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It would undoubtedly provide jobs and significantly reduce the time (and cost) to cross the Delaware, but it my opinion, it would not be aesthetically pleasing.
      Warm regards,
      Mike
