    I personally use comp-mags because it doesn't require replacing ANY parts on the rifle. Not even pins. The disadvantage of course is reloads; however, the benefit to me is that in SHTF/new laws/traveling scenarios I have a completely normal rifle in 2minutes after removing the magazine.
    For me, reloads are not as important as standard ergonomics. Of course, everyone has their own preferences.

      I have two bullet button era rifles. That’s the route I went. I can’t do that freaking fin grip. Plus I had bought one and put tons of ‘scary’ stuff on it like a year before all this BS happened. I wasn’t taking it all off.

      I’m leaning toward the comp-mags but are there issues clearing jams? I thought you wouldn’t be able to eject the mag to clear any issue? Or am I totally wrong?

    • @WhyPhi
      @WhyPhi 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rickperkins1555 you are correct. Removing the magazine is simply not an option unless you are uninstalling it.
      I have had people jam it up by loading it incorrectly so I had to field strip to clear it.
      And they are not very durable .
      I still prefer them, since as I said they require no change to the firearm and a normal rifle is only a field strip away in the event I travel or the law changes.

    I honestly like the thordsen stock, it handles like a traditional rifle stock. Another good option is the thumb rest fin grip. I like how the thordsen gen 3 looks but I really wanted an m16a2 clone and the fun grip helped me achieve that and in all honesty it’s not that bad. I tried mag lock and it was a pain but also didn’t seem to be reliable, my issue was sometimes the magazine wouldn’t seat all the way.

    But from what I heard at a gun show recently if you have one of those fixed mags in the rifle. What that is it’s the fixed 10 round mag and the mag release button is set with that non release screw and you can make your rifle one of those scary AR RIFLES. I just got a mini-14 to bypass this garbage. It's been modernized, strap, light, optic. It's a traditional rifle stock but you can replace the stock. Decent alternative for CA if you don't want to have a neutered weapon. I used that fin in training the day after using a standard AR15 and it's night a day difference with your grip and refuse to use it or have these extra steps just to reload. Reloading the mini with a 10rd mag kinda sucks as you don't have much to grab onto but I expect the mag restrictions to be removed soon and I can load up on 20/30rd mags which will remove that problem. I expect these featureless rules to also be removed in the coming few years in which case I will pickup a standard AR15 or similar.

    • @technollusion
      @technollusion ปีที่แล้ว

      How much did you get your mini14 for? I've been looking to get one for the same reasons as you mentioned. I got an smith and Wesson M&P 15 II, with the juggernaut tactical mag lock since it was cheaper than getting a mini 14 in the same caliber. However I still want a mini for the collection as I'm sure someday they may become rare collectors items or just become way more expensive.

      I actually ordered a new mini-14 and after a year of waiting I canceled the order. Shortly after I saw one in another store and grabbed it.
      I got the ultimak rail which gave me mounting options. Holosun reflect optic and I installed a smaller gas screw so the spent cartridges don't go flying across the state.

      It's a fixed mag rifle. As long as you have a fixed mag set up you can have standard features. But you can only use 10 round mags.

    Do not like the featureless. That fin pistol grip is ridiculous. I use the CompMag. You don’t have to change your gun in any way.
    Yes loading it is ridiculous but not too bad if you’re at the range. Of course if you ever had to really use it the way it was intended if or when the SHTF you can easily take it out and put in a real mag.
    Great information though for us Californians complying with tyranny.

    For home defense scenario, which of this configs do you prefer? I’m thinking fixed mag would be easier to control and shoot - you only really need one mag for home defense, not going into a prolonged fight - you agree?

    • @norcalrifleman6785
      @norcalrifleman6785  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      For home defense, personally i run a pistol for maneuvering easier through the home. But if I had to use a rifle for home defense, I would run featureless to have a standard mag release. Plus you can run freedom week mags in featureless rifles not on fixed mag set ups. As far as only needing one mag for home defense it depends on the scenario. If it's multiple people I rather have the ability to reload. I rather have more to use than not enough to use.

      And your fixed mag rifle can't be closed and pinned together without a mag in it, because then it would act like a normal rifle, not trying to nit pick you but this video could get you in legal trouble if they could prove that you weren't in compliance with the law while in California
