Guatemala, a captivating country located in Central America, boasts a rich cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes. Nestled between Mexico to the north and west, Belize to the northeast, Honduras to the east, and El Salvador to the southeast, Guatemala is a land of contrasts. Its diverse terrain encompasses rugged mountains, lush rainforests, and picturesque coastlines along the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
Ancient Mayan ruins, such as Tikal, rise majestically from the dense jungle, revealing the country's fascinating historical legacy. Visitors can immerse themselves in the remnants of this remarkable civilization, witnessing awe-inspiring pyramids and temples that once thrived here.
In modern times, Guatemala is a vibrant blend of indigenous Mayan traditions and Spanish colonial influences. Colorful markets filled with intricate handicrafts, textiles, and traditional foods showcase the country's rich cultural heritage.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find paradise in Guatemala's natural wonders, from hiking the active Pacaya Volcano to exploring the serene beauty of Lake Atitlán, surrounded by towering volcanoes and indigenous villages.
However, the nation also faces challenges like poverty and social inequality. Nevertheless, the warmth and resilience of the Guatemalan people shine through their infectious hospitality and deep-rooted pride in their heritage.
For travelers seeking a mix of history, culture, and natural beauty, Guatemala offers an unforgettable journey through time and landscapes, leaving an indelible impression on all who visit.

The quality of these videos and storytelling is some of the best on TH-cam. And such a chill and honest vibe.
Huge compliment, thank you!!
Damn. You guys are crushing it. Not only with the increasing quality of your cinematography, but at _Life_ . Thank you for reminding me to get out there and experience it.❤
That is the best reminder, get out there!! Thank you for the compliment 🙏🏻
This is the best channel I've run across in quite awhile.
Really enjoying these videos.
Wow! We appreciate it, thank you!!
Wow, what a beautiful, well put together video. Those incredible views they even made me teary-eyed at times. Living in the us for over 30 years, and what I miss the most is the people in Guatemala, they're so friendly and and kind.(something that we lack of here in the north). Stay safe. Ps, that see you later at the end had me😢. They say that as we get older we get more emotional... I can attest to that😂
The fact that we can bring out feelings like that in our little movies is something we deeply appreciate, thank you for the comment!
Mud eats seals. As someone who used to wheel a lot in Florida. Feels good freshly greased bearings, new seals, diff oil and no leaks slinging oil all over everything. Epic vid.
I live Florida
Feel great knowing everything is greased and happy!
The quality of these videos and storytelling is some of the best on TH-cam.
Wow! Thank you so much, what a compliment 🙏🏼

Love the Troopie. I will most certainly be stopping by there to bring in my 4Runner and grab some vibe.
Glad to hear it!
Wicked video guys ! Guatemala will always be in my heart ! Just love it there.
Wow. What an awesome episode. Guatemala is amazing. Thank you for the journey. A shout out to people everywhere. So Helping and so inviting to strangers.
It truly is. We’re so happy you enjoyed it!
The FJ45 troopy is the cooler 4x4 I have ever seen.
You drove the '45! Awesome! You will never the same again (it will haunt you in dreams). The 70's are acceptable substitutes lol.
I’ve been haunted every since…
The volcanoes around Lake Atitlán are thankfully dormant, not active. Absolutely incredibly video though!
I'm a Guatemalan Overlander too Thank you for this awesome video.
God bless you and take care.
Thank you for watching!
Watching this as I’m in Lake Atitlan 🤞🏾 The most beautiful place!
The best place!
Just found this channel today. WOW! What an amazing ride I'm about to embark on.
Welcome to the fam! 🙏🏼

I love the sunrise 🌅 like sunset 🌇 and the nature beautiful Guatemala greetings
So amazing.
Fj45 for me. Highschool memories...
aah the beautiful peoples traveling ..
Awesome video. This tv show just keeps getting better. Gotta do maintenance work keep her going. I liked all the Landcurisers. To bad never had a newer Landcuriser for the 4wheeling convoy. Toyota should be watching you guys. Roll on Landcuriser Chinook.
Glad you can enjoy it with us!
Rollin'...!
Favourite video that I’ve seen from you guys over the last 3 years and I’ve watched all of em. Thanks for the inspiration to take the truck and camper out of BC and go south bound.
Wow, thank you! Honoured,
Another epic video! Y’all are getting some amazing hospitality along the way! Those rigs are all beautiful but definitely dig the 45 and the 79 of course. Stay safe on that volcano we need this adventure to continue 🤙🏽
It's amazing the kindness of strangers, who so quickly turn in to friends and family!
Amazing. I wait for your video every week. You guys are so underrated. Please keep it up, safe travels!

all those places are amazing and like always, thanx for such a nice video.
You are spot on! Central America gets better vehicles. Land Cruiser heaven!
It looks like you are meeting good humans on your adventures. Also we enjoyed the plantation tours. Safe travels and good vibes>
We're glad you enjoyed it, cause we sure did!
😮Wow a volcano , how cool. I would vote for the Chinook. Those repairs must cost a lot
Awesome video such beautiful scenery and filming, my parents are from Guatemala and my dream is to go on a overloading trip there, Guatemala is the land of the Toyotas all the classics can be found there
It sure is! Amazing place to explore, especially if you have contacts and know where to go!
I lived in Florida across the canal from mangrove forests. As a kid we had no qualms navigating our canoe through them. Ive seen things back in the heart of the "groves" unlike anything you'll ever experience unless you're brave enough to venture into them. As an adult I took my Nephew out in some of the coolest places I had ever seen as a kid and to my amazement they were still there. Places where the water is so black with tannins that you just know there is something really creepy in the water, but you go around the ben several hundred feet and come across water so crystal clear that you can see the bottom. While the bottom looks like its just right there but you sink your paddle 7 feet and never hit bottom. If youre really quiet you begin to hear and see the wildlife come out of hiding. Its so awesome. I cant tell you how i navigate the backwaters because i don't know, i just know where im going. Maybe its from so many years of playing in the backwaters? Who knows, lol
That’s so awesome. Our captain had definitely been travelling the back waters for years. It’s seriously a mysterious place!
All of those Toyotas! I can’t decide which is the coolest, including yours. Awesome music (among everything else epic in these videos), BTW! Gotta download some of these tunes for my next off-road adventure.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🤙🏼
Absolutely beautiful vehicle & natural scenery & footage thank you 🙏. Our mechanic currently has FOUR ancient FJ45 utilities (we call them Utes) in his driveway in varying states of resto. We walk past & each day it's a little progress on each. We're on Toyota #13 in our fam & are loving your stories ✌️
Thank you for watching! Sounds like your mechanic has too many... We can help!
How was driving on the sharp volcanic rock like? Hopefully Toyota was listening. 🤣 You've rekindled my desire to travel again. Anyways safe travels you guys. Once again thank you for sharing another amazing adventure. ❤
Sharp and bumpy! We aired down and the Falkens did great. Still shocked how well the tire compound holds up to these kinds of rocks. Amazing to feel the desire to travel and see the world, hope you get out there!
Definitely one of the better overlanding channels out there! keep it up!
Thank you! We appreciate it 🙏🏼
Just saw your travels through El Salvador, my homeland. You guys got to eat Pupusas and experience the helpful nature of Salvadoreans. Hopefully it won’t be your last time you all visit, the Country is has been going through some awesome changes!
We will absolutely be back in the future!
I would love to have that 70 series with the canopy.
Just subscribed 👍👍
Love y’all’s adventure. Wife & I did America’s Great Loop in an old 79 marine-trader trawler single 6 cylinder. That trip brought us into the Trent Severn waterway in Canada. Beautiful country 👍👍.
We drove from our home in Mississippi in a 1990 ford Quigley 4x4 van towing our 87 Suzuki Samurai to Baja Cabo San Lucas.
Keep up the Great Adventure 👍👍
That sounds like an amazing adventure! Would have loved to see that van and Sami set up cruising down Baja!
You guys really are crushing it, keep up the killer work!
Wow!!! I wish I could explore this paradise! Guatemala es increible!!!
Beautiful..
❤❤greetings from Maple Ridge, another epic video, they just keep getting better and better. I dont drink 7 11 coffee LOL. All epic Toyotas buy yours is my favorite as its a home on wheels and yes i drivea 22 OR Taco❤❤
15:57 my day own 2005 toyota fortuner, we usually trip about 700km from java island to bali island very comfortable. But i miss my dad's old FJ40, best car ever😂
Another amazing deep dive into the local culture. You guys never disappoint. As far as choosing one of the Toyotas, the 40 would have to by high on any Toyota lover's list, but being an overlander also, I would go with the Chinook hands down. By the way, Dale's Pale Ale comes from the Oskar Blues Brewery over in Brevard, North Carolina, jus a short hop over the hills, maybe 45 minutes from my home.
Indeed the 40 is legend. Sounds like an Eastern brewery tour on our way home perhaps!
Sierra Nevada has a really nice place just outside of Asheville also. The NC laws somehow make micro-brewing here much better than other states. Tax laws I would imagine. You could spend a month in micro-brews just around Asheville. @@ToyotaWorldRunners
Juan Carlos as well as your other friends give Guatemalans a good name, really. And that volcano trip and those Land Cruisers were epic. Stay safe!
They truly do. The people made us sure of our return
What you are doing is something i really am working on doing and that is driving through South America .I did an attempt and failed i will try it again sometime in the future !! Awesome video
We wish you luck!
Definitely the 45!
Yes! Love the Toyotas!
79 series Aussie spec all the way
I loved your video ❤ thank you for visiting my beautiful country.
Happy you enjoyed it 🙏🏼
@@ToyotaWorldRunners yesssss
Amazing, superb! 🙏 👍
Great videos The 70 series are different than Australian spec they are running a 6 cylinder engine we run a V8 here and you will find the front tracking is the same as the rear while V8 ones are wider in the front , Good old Toyota ute you have those are unbreakable , along with the 47 and 80 series, keep up the great videos and enjoy your what you are doing
You guys have us wishing we had a 4x4. What an epic adventure, Guatemala looks amazing and we can wait to get there!! Stay safe 🙏🏽
Yooo! You will find amazing places still no doubt!
Get one! If it's in your budget, do it. Three years ago on my 40th birthday I got myself a used 2011 4runner.
The adventures I've gone on since then are amazing!
It's the best type of therapy I can imagine. Probably costs less in the long run too.
Nice video toyota power 💪
Another amazing video! Great job guys!
That 45 troopy is unreal. Absolute dream vehicle. Pretty tiny cruiser population here in Juneau, AK - maybe 12 80s if I counted correctly, a couple 60s still driving, neighbor is restoring a 40 from Whitehorse... but I'll never forget the day I saw that same 45 troopy in a parking lot, same color and everything. Not nearly as cherry, but...
Drool worthy indeed!
Got to go with the FJ! But all 5 rigs are awesome! 👍
Well, I've just watched this one again... One of my favs for sure! Got me all puddled up in a couple of places. So much love coming to you ❤️❤️❤️
It's all around!
Awesome.Felt like I was there. And you met and hung out with amazing hosts. That’s how you experience what a country has to give!🤘👏
We feel very blessed to have had these experiences in Guatemala! Thanks for watching Murray.
all of them!
Best one yet guys. You are both crushing it! Going from strength to strength 👏
Thank you!
Gran trabajo.
Thank you!
Awesome video man! Keep up exploring!
Thanks! Will do!
And belive me… there are a lot of incredible places you guys missed! Hopefully you’ll have more time on your way back! Great rig and great vid!!! You are wellcome any time to Guatemala!!!!
Would take a lifetime I'm sure! We'll be back...
Really cool guys.. I own 2 Landcruisers, very cool to see the LC's
Awesome video. Gave me chills at the end.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This has been an amazing journey loving it all
Thank you!
wow, what a beautiful place Guatemala is!! Loved the vlog
Thanks so much! 😊
Fantastic episode!!! This channel has become a drop everything and watch whenever a new video comes out... Absolutely enthralled with your advertures!!!
Haha yes, we love that!
79 series left hand drive the world conquerer
Another wonderful video of an amazing journey! I could picture sitting with Juan and enjoying fresh coffee and overlooking the beautiful coffee fields. As you have shown, it isn't what country you are in at all, there are wonderful people everywhere working hard and willing to share their stories. Great job you two and as always - much love
Maybe Juan will have us all for coffee one day
If i could take one home it would still be your Chinook, that FJ is very nice though..
Aw shucks
Those are some awesome rigs! I am kind of partial to the 76, but really love my 1995 75 series Troopy overland setup. Great channel- thanks for doing it!
It's a really hard choice!
Thanks!
So generous!!! Thank you so much.
For me, it is a tight draw between the Australian Spec 79 series overlander and the one-of-a-kind Chinook resto-mod. Probably choose the Chinook after it is done with this trip. I doubt you will sell it, ever. But if you do, let me enter the lottery to be the one to buy it. Thanks for such great vids and unique and thought provoking narratives. Great writing.
And we'll start the bidding at.....!
1 Million.
:D
@@ToyotaWorldRunners not sure but it will be a significant amount of USD. Likely more than this expat in Mexico/boater can afford. But it will be amazing to see how high it could go. I would start the bidding at $45k and hope to see it sell in the low-end of six figures.
I will keep watching. Great job to both of you for showing the world that there is far more to Mexico and Central America than what corporate media is lying to them about. So far I have been to all the countries and states you have shown. Not all the locations, but well over half. That puts me in a tiny
Little late to the party on this one. But dang this vid did not disappoint! 🤘🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hands down I'd want the Chinook! I think Toyota should build you a modern version for your ad. Great video! Thank you. Aloha.
That sounds like a great idea! Maybe you can reach out on our behalf? 😆
LOL! I dinna think they'll listen lad.
Awesome overlanding, FJ 45 or the Chinook cruiser for favorites.
Have an 88 4x4 Xtra cab sr5 3.4 swapped and a 87 turbo 4runner in the shop, gotta love Toyota's
Either would look great parked next to those!
Amazing scenery and experiences. The FJ was drool worthy! I'd be taking that home if I had the chance 😜
Matthew almost traded.. Almost ;)
I wish he could have both!
I’ll take the HJ47 Troop carrier!!!
Calidad de videos ❤
Did I see a 70 Toyota Corona? Had one of those bitd; loved thah Nissan Patrol... '69? or earlier? The bottle opener on the front bumper of the FJ45 is a well thought out touch!
Good eye! 69 Patrol, and it is a Corona, not sure the year, early 70's though, kp30 I think they're called?
Beautiful videos and reflections on the many beautiful sides of my country. Also, not a trip for the faint of heart. It’s easy to get caught up in Cartels, kidnapping, and border crossings. Have fun, give back to the less fortunate and please be careful. Most will treat you well, but a few will see you as an easy target.
I'd love to have the 45
wow
I would take that AWESOME CHINOOK 😊
😁😄
buddy in the white fortuner gets the 4x4 award. a minivan looking suv for soccer-moms doing more than the most capable vehicles toyota has built. the tires on this chinook are ridiculously huge and what crazy ground clearance, i feel as though you guys are underestimating the capability of your rig. what kind of mpg or l/100 are you getting in that skyscraper with monstertruck wheels? the mountain pine ridge trail we did with a 100 series with only a 2" lift on stock wheels with k02's, not sure what caused you guys to turn around with that beast of a 80 chasis and setup. great video work, keep it up! curious on the mpgs though, especially since majority of the miles seem to be roads that any decent 4x4 can pass.
We do underestimate it.. On purpose! We've got a long way to go until Argentina and want to make sure it get's there in one piece. We will unleash its full potential once that's completed! We average 12-14 mpg. On the Pine ridge trail, it got so narrow between the washout ditches we no longer safely fit, the tires were over the edge on either side.
I'll take the Troopy.
You guys are awesome! Someone recommended you on the Facebook group pan America travelers association yesterday. I watched about 4 hours right after And about 3 hours today. I’m building my 94 jeep Cherokee to do this same trip! It’s great to see other ppl with like minds making videos about off roading during this trip and doing things a bit different. Any advice for me on how to find cool trails and meet other overlanders. Do you mainly use I overlander for reference? Awesome content and I can’t wait to get caught up to your present day adventure 🤙🏼
Welcome to the TWR family! Thank you for watching, we’re so stoked for your adventure!
Our routes have been a mash up of iOverlander recommendations, google searches, Gaia pins and lots of word of mouth. It’s nice to have a rough idea of what you want to see and where you want to go. But we can guarantee that at your first campsite, 10 people will give you new ideas you’ve never even heard of and that will determine your decisions. 🙏🏼
Oh, me, oh my, i like me a 45. I like to take my 40 on that trail. Living a dream is a great thing.🙏
British Columbia has lots of volcanos. Canadas diamond mines are in non active volcanos
Are you still in Guatemala? Great videos you should also try el injerto coffee lifec changer
I'd take your Chinook over any of those, but if I have to pick another, always wanted a troopie to keep my FJ40 company. 😊
Everyone needs one ;)
Just wait until you guys step in salvadorean territory, El Salvador 🇸🇻 is one the country with most volcanoes 🌋 and beautiful beaches in Central America ahuachapan for off roading trails, la libertad or La Paz costa del sol for beautiful beaches in San marcelino you can camp by the beach 🏝️ good luck in my small but beautiful country eat lots pupusas, I’m anxious to see this videos in my beautiful El Salvador 🇸🇻 ❤
Coming soon!!
Man you cannot ask me which one... then there are 5 I feel like I am cheating on. And talk about a shocker, there is a 1977 Chinook rear shell with working popup but trashed floor. The shell looks fine! It is on CL in Raleigh NC.
How long have "ya'll" been down south? When the first "gun" appears Stacy makes it about 3 syllables!!!
We left Canada December 2nd 2022. Took us a few mounts to get "South" though.
Taking the Chinook.
Great video ,my son has a fortuner in Australia ,awesome vehicle don’t know why we can’t get them in Canada ?
Among so many other awesome rigs..
