COULD NOT agree more about Lew. We had no idea what a treasure we had. First concert I ever saw. It was at Freedom Hall in Louisville. Line that resonates? Things get complicated when you get past 18.

Class of '87, and this song still is true. 494 others, and me. Dreams realized and dashed, but the song portrays life. "Things get complicated, when you get past 18". So true.

I was just thinking that if this song was updated for today that the class of '87 would be about right. Some of the lyrics would need updating (I doubt that the 12 remaining Sears stores have many truckers) but what was true then is every bit as true today.

Saw them at the Colorado state fair, would probably have been in the early 2000's (I brought my not yet wife - the show was not her speed but I guess she married me anyway). They talked about this being their last tour - I remember it like yesterday. Don said they weren't sick or anything, then turned to Herold who shrugged like 'speak for yourself', and the audience laughed. Then said they'd been touring for 40-some years, and ready to quit. Definitely a class act, and I'm not even a country or even necessarily gospel fan.

This song played at my gym on New Year's Day this year. The Statler Brothers were one of my dad's favorites & this song, in particular, mentions my mom's name. I stood in the gym, crying. I told my sister Mom & Dad visited me today. She said the same song played the night before for her. It's incredible to believe that Mom & Dad payed us visits in the same way at almost the same time. & I do miss Harold Reid's humor. They certainly were a class act in every sense of the word.

What a great song by one of the greatest quartets of all time! This song rings so true for us of the class of 1957 (Valley HS, Albuquerque, NM). All we have to do is substitute the names of the folks in this song and memories or our 1957 classmates come to life. We did have our dreams...and now we are just a very small part of history. Best country vocal quartet ever. Never a song I didn't like by them. Legends.

I love how all the country performers in the 60s & 70s took pride in how the looked on stage.
The so-called country music performers try to look like they got their clothes out of the dirty clothes pile & they just woke up & got out of bed & decided to walk on stage!!!
    Much love from Mobile Alabama.

'57 was the year I was supposed to graduate, but like a lot of us I had to get married in56. I'm sorry I didn't graduate, but I did get my GED. I love all of the Statler Bros. songs.

I graduated from WHS the big rival to WMHS. I went back for my fortieth reunion a few years ago and got to drive down Lew Dewitt Boulevard between Waynesboro and Fishersville.
