World’s FASTEST C7 Corvette! - Finally hitting 200mph!

- C7 Corvette’s have been stuck at the 195mph barrier for so long, battling ridiculous issues the plague the platform at this build level! That era is finally over, as this Vengeance Racing built C7 Corvette not only blasted past that barrier once but also added almost 20mph to the old record! Owner Michael Stout, who gives all credit to the crew at Vengeance Racing, could not have been anymore excited to achieve this goal given the amount of time he’s invested in trying to break this record! We couldn’t have been happier to be able to catch this record happen, as we weren’t even sure if we were going to be able to make the event. On top of it now being the fastest Corvette ever, we think it might also possibly be the quietest one too!

Awesome to see someone who has obviously worked very hard to get their car to that point shatter records 2 days in a row. The guy was so genuine and a 1320 fan! Awesome video!

That car has so much damn power that the only limiting factor right now is traction. It appears that he isn't even getting a good launch but it's still hauling ass! Love it!
He explained that it’s because the torque converter is too tight to run high boost on 2 step. He’s getting a lot of power but no torque so he’s using a lot more clutch on takeoff making it a lot slower of a launch. Once he gets boost it’s over.

@@fredericleederman3824 Yea, it's kinda funny how soft his "launches" are. I put launches in quotes because idk if you can even call them launches they are so soft 😂 But..it doesn't matter how you start, what matters is how you finish. And he shattered the record 💪
@@jaycustom21 i rarely see anyone launching hard in a 1/2m run since its all about trap. launching hard isn't going to give you much of any trap speed, especially in a race that far, with that said, he does seem to be launching softer than even the norm
Corvette guy looks like he is cruising on a Sunday to go get groceries. Does not look like he is doing 206mph.

Mike lives across the street from me in a quiet neighborhood and he starts and runs it to work as a daily driver! Lol. Love it!
Makes you appreciate how impressive Sal's run was over three years ago when he was running 235-237 mph in the 1/2 mile with his rwd TT Viper! And without a professional team to back him!
I seem to remember Sal Patel running 6.96 @ 200+ waaaaay back as well, like he was there and doing that, a long time ago and before all these new teams with their tech upgrades today.
Holyshit yeah I remember that car. Full interior, radials and that thing did the quarter mile in like 6.9 seconds. Absolutely mindblowing
I’m curious as to why it took this long for a corvette to break 200?. Why do lambos gtr viper etc have no issues getting to 240? And the corvettes seem to struggle past 180. All these years of watching half mile races and it’s saddened me that corvettes get stomped in the half mile. Surely it can’t be gearing? They gotta have same pocketbooks at this level.
@@danc8919 Largely traction on the unprepped surface, which is why the AWD cars have dominated the 1/2 mile. The C7 has lots of issues at a certain power level. In fact, the C6 with its LS based engine has run quicker.
And BTW, Sal's Viper is still the fastest RWD car in the 1/2 to date at 244 mph, which is AMAZING given the RWD traction limitations!

i would pay alot of money just to feel a car do 200 mph. the motorcycle i have doing just 130 is sketch but a blast

Babylon falling definitely not talking about the old school stuff. The VVT variable valve timing modern Gen 5 LT platform. I figured the VVT was the qualifier. I even prefer the 2nd gen LT platform from the 80s-90s to the most recent iteration. I stopped backing GMs engines once they went to the 4th gen LS with DOD systems. And speaking of 70s engines, I don’t think it was fair to the LS6 454 to have it’s engine code used for a 346cid engine that was used in the C5 Z06. And that happens to be one of my favorite cars.
Plus I had put LT in quotations because them using that code is bogus. They should have never EVER thought it a good idea to recycle engine codes. I think there are plenty of numbers and letters in the alphabet.

Ruby would be the most probable because Leroy has the aerodynamics of a house
@@yolofullsend leroy can do 200mph in 4th and he is a six speed so he definitely has a tall enough ratio for it ruby however is only geared for like 180mph total
@@xerolift leroys aerodynamics aren't good but he has the power to overcome it to a certain extent. In the wind tunnel it was confirmed it takes 600hp to go 170mph. Thats 3.52 hp per mph so to go 200mph you need 704hp roughly. Leroy can make turned up 1800hp so he would still have 1100hp to propel him down track. So 200-210mph is possible. And with the wheel speed sensors he can dial in the traction so he can get it to hook down track. He just needs the track and a dialed car and he will get it no problem
Leroy needs one of those carbon or glass corvette roadster bodys seen on NHRA comp cars to play this game. Huge drag penalty and dangerous with at that speed with air going places it shouldn't. That car has the aero of a refrigerator.
Would love to do it for sure. Hit 190 on a bike but a car is a whole different feeling at that speed. Congrats on the record.
Wow! Incredibly blew the old record off the pages of the record books. It's pretty cool to see a new record set by a few mph BUT to reset the record by over 20mph,, that is insane!

I know that the 1/8th mile C7 record belongs to a RVW car but he also took out the LT1 and put in a Proline built Hemi with twin 102mm turbos but as far as the body goes the guy bought the C7 brand new and took it straight to his chassis builder and they built a Chromoly 25.1 chassis and put the Hemi in it and on the hub dyno at Fuel Tech and it made over 5200hp but everything on the body on the car is as is from the factory and that guy has been 3.60s @ 200+mph in the 1/8th
This is in my hometown.
Many C7's have hit over 200 MPH with slight modifications. The car, especially the Z06 and ZR1 were designed for the track and have massive drag. Remove the Spoiler and front splitter and this will help!
