Great words of wisdom. At 57, I did my 1st tandem 13JUL. 2nd tandem is already booked for 22SEP, and I decided that I want to do the AFF Course starting next spring (I live in ON, Canada). Also plan on doing tunnel flying each month, from Oct to April (I've did it twice in the spring, & enjoyed it). Blue skies my friend.

Yo bro, that's some real wise advice right there ! In my case (only 20 jumps) I was so focused about my progress and skills to that I had to polish that I almost forgot to had fun along the way. I was looking too far ahead and was practicing all the moves for the next exam and now I do realize that it is not a race. As a rule of thumb I always do a fun jump from now on, just having fun and staring at this magnificent view. As you rightfully said "enjoy the process" that's a nice reminder thanks man. To me skydiving is a way to empty my mind during 50 seconds, nothing else matter, and I don't think about this noisy world we live in, but each second in the sky are priceless. That's peace really, plus a bit of adrenaline and fun. And finally skydiving is the best democracy I've ever experienced hehe. Age does not matter, nor the race or where you come from. You meet people you wouldn't have otherwise, and that's what make this whole thing so unique. Have fun !
Great job, brand new to your channel and it great. Glad you are of the positive mindset. You gonna find haters every where you go. But keep on, keeping on. I have done 7 jumps and I was a soloing quick and others that were a couple jumps ahead of me we’re not soloing and they thought I was getting special treatment. I just blew it off and kept a positive attitude. Then I discovered diving. I really love that. I also had to get away from the negatively. Diving puts you with nature. And all the sea creatures are awesome. So hang in there and every day is a blessing. So I am going to take a few weeks off and do some more skydiving 🪂. Life is good, enjoy it to the fullest.
I really agree with your premise that the majority of people that get into skydiving are seekers looking for peace and to feel alive. Also running from pain or trauma. That is most certainly the case for me. Whether it is surfing, snowboarding, quad racing, or skydiving - I find my happiest and most grounded place doing such things. Definitely helps me in a therapeutic way.
I’m trying brother, still in the van and have plans of upgrading in time. Right now I can’t see myself living in a traditional home with a mortgage… just not for me
You make excellent points. I would like to add 200 jumps is the magic number for BASE and Wingsuiting. I started both at around the same time when I had like 250 jumps. I do not recommend this based on my experience. I didn't and I still don't have the canopy skills to land in technical landing areas in limited visibility. I would suggest at least 500 skydives with a focus on accuracy and quickly correcting off heading deployments before doing your FJC.
