    The default presets sound so artificial (machine gun sound). Why doesn't Roland start a colaboration with Toontrack?

    • @maegnificant
      @maegnificant 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since you can just upload anything you want and they probably like their own sound that much, they probably don't care.
      I also think the sounds that are onboard help to keep the latency low.

    Hi! Great review! Glad I happened upon you!
    Regarding recording internally without any use of a computer, if I’m drumming along to a drumless track via my iPhone through Bluetooth, will the module also record the track to which I’m playing? You’d mentioned, for example, making a TH-cam drum cover. Could I simply record it all with my TD-27? You start alluding to the possibility here, at 6:23, and more specifically here, 6:43. That would be so great!
    Thanks much!

    Td-50 won’t get you a 14” Tom. The 50k will give you the same toms as on this kit. And the 50 kv will give you 10 and 12” toms.

    Have just bought one, very happy with it. The stock sounds could be better, but they are all tuneable so over time I can tweak them to my taste.

      so how would you recon it after a year?

      @@jezusmylord, still loving it. It is so versatile and configurable. Stock sounds can be tweaked, or third party kits can be obtained. There are some good very reasonably priced third party kits out there. There is a good set of communities out there on social media with good people in them. The snare is fantastic, the ride is the same. The hi hat, some people like it, some not so much, I think it is OK as long as it is setup correctly. Some people in the forums I am in have gone for the VAD line (with the TD-27 module) and if I had the space then I probably would have gone for a VAD. However one of the reasons I went for the TD-27kv it can be setup very compactly. Overall I find it an easy kit to play, very happy with it.

    Awesome video! What I don't quite understand yet though is why the balanced outputs would be better for studio use rather than audio through usb? (Like you mentioned at the end of the video) is the sound quality of audio through USB not as good as balanced outs? For gigging (which I don't do) it makes sense to use balanced outputs as you would want to route each individual sound through external fx. For home recording though audio&midi through USB seems perfect as you can correct small mistakes later on, right? While I have a UAD apollo x8+x16 to which I could perfectly hook up balanced outputs from a td50 for instance, I'm nowhere near a good enough drummer to record everything flawlessly. The power of audio/midi through usb seems that you can correct mistakes later on. Besides, its half the price of the td50, which is a lot of money. My plan is to buy a td27 or vad506 just for studio use to add live drums to my tunes. Not sure if I would even use the internal roland sounds or only superior drummer 3, but I'm a bit in doubt whether I would need balanced outputs for what I want to do or if audio+midi through USBis enough. Any advice is welcome! ;)

      Evan Keal so u paid $3200? I made up my mind on the TD27 back in april cause i decided i was going to eventually get an acoustic set. And i did last week a DW Performance 3 piece. So now I get the best of both worlds. I can play anytime and I can also practice on acoustic because the feel is so different and dynamics.
      Initially SW said May 5th delivery on VADs and now July. Hope u get it sooner. Had a postive grid spark take over 6 months when i ordered it in November to ship was suppose to be January it arrived May so its like a guessing game.

      can match the sounds easily on the td 50 with layering just a couple drums. My honest opinion is the td27 is more for like someone who plays at home and maybe with a few friends for fun here and there. The td 50 is more for someone who does gigs every weekend.

    • @skirwan78
      @skirwan78 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kosta1605 this- unless you need xlr and a bunch of individual outs and instant controls and you're not using it as a trigger platform the TD-50 is way more than most people need and will use for a very expensive upgrade price- like 3k-5k more for the kit - 10" pads and a 14" snare are plenty large enough for most people. If you can't hit a 10" pad you need all kinds of help on your drumming lol

    Great Review! Thanks so much. I subscribed. It was to the point and gave me the information I needed to make my decision. I have a crazy question that maybe you can answer. If it will record what's playing and your drums as you played, would it be possible for me just one drummer to record two drump parts for the song and kind recreate the Burundi Beat that was popular with some groups like Adam and the Ants?

    • @kosta1605
      @kosta1605 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sadly its nothing special. I was hoping for maybe some real recorded drums considering the name is "Premiere Collection" but in the end its just the same samples on the module and they are tweaked. All the new kits are like EDM based kits and stuff I will personally never use. Nice that Roland added them but in the end for probably 95% of the drummers out there, they wont be using any of the new kits.

    I want this kit sooooo bad it’s not funny. Hopefully will have enough saved to buy the module by September/ October. Played this for an hour a GC and fell in love with it. The VAD series is great looking, I just would like it with 1 rack tom and 2 floor toms. And if I had option to go with 18” Roland bass drum instead of the 22”. I’m talking like I could actually afford one of these kits in my life time , so there’s that

      Currently I have a TD-17 and ab Alesis strike module. I have experience layering 1 shot samples with acoustic drums when playing hybrid and layering 1 shot samples in with vdrum sounds to give the great presence. The Roland sounds will never be VST quality sounds. Roland has a ton of options on the td-27 for changing the sounds. I really like my Alesis strike because I can add multi velocity VST samples, however it has a 200 mb per kit limit. I really want the td-27 for my home recording. I play hip hop/edm/trap music/house music/D’n’B, so synthetic processed samples are big part of what is needed. When I need more realistic samples I use VST and Roland is excellent as a controller for my laptop
