I love this piece. I've been using it for my ringtone for 2 years now....:-) I think Muriel does a great job with it and I enjoy seeing her perform it at CAAS.
How much more can a person be blessed?! To have the ability to take a wonderful instrument like this and make it sound so beautiful 🤩 It’s mind blowing to see the kind of talent Ms Anderson has, and be able to share it with the world 🌎 So blessed is she…
A truly outstanding composition and performance. Listening to it for the umpteenth time on New Year's day 2023. I never tire of music at such a high standard of composition, beauty and performance.
Murial! Wow! You taught me so many things in that beautiful performance- I hadn't even considered before using harmonics in that way.. A saged soul is truly one that knows things beyond what the years has taught them. What an infinitely intriguing performance. Thank you!
If not for Muriel Anderson playing your instrument in this video, I might not have ever found that you existed. This is great because I have always wanted to play a harp guitar since I 1st saw one because I have played guitar since I was 13yrs old but have never had the opportunity to play one but with my style of playing, since my 1st guitar was a nylon string classical I bought new for $50 is why I prefer finger picking over a pick anytime. I live in Kentucky and just might drive out there to see play and buy myself one. I'm looking forward to seeing your selections
Some of you ought to recall this is not a top notch recording you are listening to! Quit criticizing the tone or what have you until you hear it in DVD, Record, or in person! I have seen and heard Muriel play in person and the instrument sounds great on the guitar part and the harp part! she is an excellent musician/performer, wonderful to look upon, and she sings nicely too!
+Larry Gray I wouldn't say they were necessarily criticizing it. Some of them simply critiqued it instead of criticizing. Offering suggestions or giving your opinion isn't rude as long as you don't mention your opinion in a rude way :)
Til I saw this, I did not even know there was such a thing as a Harp Guitar. The new one she had built is a combination of three string instruments, and she does wonders with it.
This song and an original by Stephen Bennett convinced me I needed to get a harp guitar. Ordered it in May, picked up a few days ago. Just noticed she is playing a ToneDevil. Wow. My harp guitar is also a ToneDevil, but nylon. Amazing instrument. Muriel is incredible. Her technique just blows me away. Signed up for a Master Class with her in Santa Barbara in October - hoping just a little of that amazing rubs off. :)
I have to give myself a severe knock on my head. I’ve been playing guitar for sixty years….I’ve seen Muriel’s name in early Guitar Player magazine and yet, never checked her out until today. How ashamed I felt. Could fill me post here with a dozen accolades but you long term fans would already have knowledge of them. Better late than never…..😢
The instrument she's playing is (partly) a steel string. Steels usually have necks that taper and a smaller head compared to classical guitars, where the strings run parallel, the neck is wider and has no taper, and the head is bigger. That's why it looks so big.
I know this thread is old, but was just going to point out that there most certainly IS taper on a classical guitar neck, the strings aren't parallel at all. It's just wider
Also, her harp guitar is designed with neck shorter by the length of the first half step, so it is tuned a half step higher, and it fits in the overhead compartment of an airplane.
watching her play it just occurred to me that with a harp guitar there is no place to place your palm or plant some fingers, so all of the muscle control has to be in your arm. that would get old pretty quick.
@@tracyavent-costanza346 That's nice. I was answering your comment about how she could hold her arm aloft without a resting place on the guitar. So, uh, did you really not perceive that I was remaining in context, or were you merely eager to charge a fellow human with error?
@@danielpauldavis sorry maybe I was having trouble seeing what comment(s) went with other comments. I absolutely would guess that her arms would have muscle development associated with the harp guitars. I didn't mean to imply that I disagreed with you about any of that.
Classical players never usually rest their palms on the strings or plant fingers while they play as some steel string players do. Muriel was classically trained and uses good technique. Also, the guitar is slightly elevated on her left knee raising the neck slightly so your shoulders can stay straight.
did you know that from space you can't see any borders? do you know what this means? they are in our collective imagination.. so... want a kinder.. more gentle World for your kids? that's how we do it.. we imagine
She’s brilliant beyond words.
Eleven years later and she's still stiring souls with her mellifluous music. Thank you, ma'am, that was beautiful.
Beautiful harmonic sequence.
That is a phenomenal performance by a true musical artist
incredibly beautiful ..

Her right hand technique is amazing! The harmonics are beatiful! I love it!
I know, it's as if she has 3 hands
I've been playing awhile. Never knew of this technique. It's not that easy to do, especially as fast as she does.@@richardstevens4230
Thanx Muriel. That was truly something for the heart! Just loved the melody and the harmonics! Well done!

This is so beautiful it fills the space in my heart.
What an amazing instrument, and Muriel your phenomenal !!! This is beautiful !!
what a performance, you show your personality .gold.
That was absolutely awesome, amazing
I love how she arpeggiates all of those plucked harmonics. Very talented.
Too beautiful!
Thanks Michael, Muriel is beautiful I know, as is her playing :0

Beautiful! The best performance of artificial harmonics that I've ever seen.
Truly magnificent! The "harp" guitar as well. Thanks Ms. Anderson, Bravo!!!
Soundtrack of the heavens. Can't get enough.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this !! I just recently started looking into the Harp Guitar and am falling more and more in love with it.
Thanks Marko! Yes Muriel is super talented and I love her original compositions on the harp guitar. The one she plays here is one we built.
Thank you for this beautiful music

This deserves vinyl. This generation of technology users forget that that digital going through earbuds is ultra low fidelity
Exceptionally gifted lady!
WOW Amazing. We get to see her live this Friday, in Memphis.
She is really fun to listen to, she does a right good job....
spectacular performance on playing harp guitar
Nice harmonics, wow!
I have never seen one played before. I like it.
Beautiful playing as always Muriel :)

makes me want to find true love that lasts
I gave up...im fascinated w this guitar and her music
wow
amazing
I can´t beleive her right hand technique!
Fantastic
Harp guitar 👍🏼👍
Big respect for your work! It's beautiful but I am guitarist too and I know very well what's mean to play a song like this and in this way!

why does that classical guitar in the background look so gigantic?

tabs?
Wonderful playing and instrument! I've been looking for a mountable mic like that, is that commercially available?
looks like a DPA 4099 to me, great quality
What the ? That instrument must have cost a small fortune. Are those upper strings just drone strings to resonate with the guitar? Amazing!
The harp guitar has been around for years, our S-12 model she is playing retails for around $2800 at Guitar Center.
But will it djent?
This could definitely djent
6TF2 it'll sound better Djenting than your compiled garbage, 9 string electric.
that got heated
Incrible!
Really inspirational. Pity other people have to write such stupid and pointless comments about performing artists.
very intresting technnique! The instrument looks to be of Klingon origin ;-)
😂😂😂
ToneAngel
That instrument is a monstrosity to behold
Lovely sound but the bass needs turning up!

look at the muscles on her right arm.

need higher pitch strings on harp
Lovely Darling ... i love it very much so and i dedicate this to my sweet Mum ..Dad + Brother in the Heavenly Realms thanks so much . ;-)))
I listened at 2x speed and I'm pretty sure I saw God.
Wow, i'm gonna have to try that.
@@tonedevilguitars I try it with most of my videos. It detunes the sound a bit but sometimes it's amazing.😂
Love M's playing...Putting bass players out of work tho.

Please 🙏🏼Por Favor
She must be from the N. Korean Philharmonic.
damnit. and to think i was just patting myself on the back for learning a motley crue song.
damnit. sideways frowny face.
just kidding - this gal's music is extra beautiful!
sounds better with nylon imo
If only I had half the understanding of the guitar that she does...
The sound would have been even better if she'd used nylon strings instead of steel strings
So this is what happens when you breed a guitar with a harp.
yeet to strange looking but so beauitful at the same time, all tho it looks very awkward.
god, so boring
no U
The "Harp guitar" is just a gimmick. The bass notes get totally lost. She should play this on a 12-string-now THAT would be truly awesome.
beautiful
