In the steam room podcast with Ernie Johnson (which you can listen to), Charles Barkley told a story that two hours before the game against Puerto Rico he, Michael Jordan, David Robinson, and Coach Chuck Daly were playing 18 holes of golf. After it was over, Jordan insisted on playing another round, much to the chagrin of Coach Daly. Hours before the game started, Coach Daly assigned who to guard before he turned to Jordan, he interrupted and said, “I got the point guard.” When asked why why wanted to guard him instead of the number 2 guard, he puts his head down, and then lifted it back up and said, “I got the point guard.” Apparently, he read in the local paper that the point guard from Puerto Rico had some very unflattering words to say about the US team, especially Michael Jordan. Throughout this entire game, he guarded and trash talked him throughout the entire game like it was a game seven in the NBA playoffs.
