Good to see people driving in anger on Laguna Seca. I have a few small tips (from someone who has been racing and tuning championship winning cars for 20+ years). Specifically in the GR Corolla. Spend more time actively accelerating even if you think you are just going to have to shift down in 50 metres. Coasting is leaving time on the table. Ideally keep pushing your braking zone later to the point that your brake system can handle (the GR brakes are excellent) while getting into the right gear for the corner. Turn in while under braking to get the nose over and then get on the gas earlier than you think (pretty much on or just before the apex). I reckon in doing that consistently you will be able to knock another 2-3 seconds off quite easily. The GR is incredibly forgiving so no need to ease into the throttle out of a corner. and if you find that you are going a little too hot into a corner where the tail starts getting lite just keep your wheels where you want to go and get on the accelerator and the rear end will fall in line. You want to be smooth but committed Use all of the track when needed to maintain momentum. Love the vids mate, reminds me of my early track days. Keep up the good work and have fun. 👍
I laughed so hard at the Hyundai "why are you passing during the warm up lap" comment. And then you caught right back up and passed him after the warm up lap 😂
Years ago when I moved to Hawaii, I did this drive in a WRX STi in 18 hours flat and didn't stop for anything, but gas. Needelss to say I was EXHAUSTED. I want to do this drive again, but just take my time. Track time looks hella fun!
@@alex.n22 Laguna is pretty easy on suspension, for reference, I have a friend running 1:41s on bone stock gr86 (oem suspension) besides 225 V730 tires. Yeah I didn't mean op should run this time but the car definitely has 1:40 if not faster.
And yes. The adrenaline rush can really cause you to lose sight of the bigger picture sometimes while on track and just go gun ho. But you just gotta make sure to keep focus.
Jesus. Saw Fez (yellow gr86) pull at 17:00. That's the mofo that's having me want to keep my twin vs buying a Rolla. Got a deposit on a 24 Premium, but really thinking of keeping the Twin. >.
I think it's funny when you are worried about how "crazy expensive" the gas prices are in Cali, but yet you have an over priced Toyota Corolla, with all the expenses of a track weekend, hotels, food ect. But you keep harping on gas prices? Make it make sense. This entire trip you did was expensive.
That's your take away??? The one time he mentioned the California gas price being ridiculous ( which it is btw) ... Probably explains why you have no car. If that's all your focused on.

😅😅😅😅
Yeah I wasn't sure what he was doing.
Especially since they said in the driver's meeting that there is no passing during the Warm up lap.
Looks like a great time!
It was!
Glad to see Mark back in the videos.
I really wish this track was available for Toyota’s complementary track day when I bought my GRC. I set it up for Sonoma which I’m still excited for
Glad to see Mark back in the videos. It's not really Do Boy's Garage unless both of you guys are there.
Hopefully he has more time to be in more videos.
When did you get a Recaro Pole position? What happend to the Braum?
They were too big. They just didn't hold me snug enough.
I enjoyed watching your adventure. Sure looks like you had a great time on the journey and the track.
It was a blast! Hopefully I can attend more Gridlife events in the future.
@@antdo I would like to come down sometime just to see the event. It about a 12 hour drive south for me from WA State.
I'm glad the trailer worked out for you. But man that was a tight squeeze lol.

Yeah what made this trip terrible was the fact that if you are towing a car in California the speed limit is 55mph -_-
Nice meeting you guys!
It was great to meet you as well!
any overheating issues? You did the exhaust wrap and heat shroud right? Also great video!
I had no overheating issues the entire weekend. But sessions were only 15 mins long.
That fog sux! Weather was great once it lifted
Worth the trip for sure! Sucks I have to do it all again in a month for Dallas 😅
Do you still have the Accord track build?
I did an update video a while back.
I would LOVE to do something like this one day, when I can finally get the time for it.
It was definitely a great experience. Hopefully I'll get to go back again next year.
Get it boi!
Let's go!
1:51 is a slow time for your car. You should easily be 1:47 at least.
Wait for the day 2 vlog 😅
with this setup it's a 1:40 car
1. Suspension alone won't get him to that time.
2. Not for someone's first time out there

What issue did you have with the lugnuts ?
A couple of them were stretched so they were backing off the studs. Luckily I brought a spare set
good to know thank you ! were you using oem or an aftermarket set ?
@@antdo
It was an aftermarket set I had lying around. Only thing I had at the time for the extended studs.
Where are the Track Accord videos?
I did an update video a while back.
Bro i had no clue you and Dustin Williams knew each other.
We did a collab a LONG time ago
Also, were you concerned with any overheating?🤔
People leave out how much adrenaline is pumping when you’re on a real track with other drivers. It takes some serious getting used to.
The only concern about overheating I had was the rear differential. But luckily that didn't happen.

How much did an event like this run you? They have similar events here, and they cost $700, and up.
The GridLife Event itself was $1200 for two days.

How long did you overheat the awd system? 10 mins? 15 mins?
He never said it overheated.
He already posted on another comment saying he didn't have any overheating issues.
