You are definitely right, before i bought my GRC, it sounded great on video. Then when I purchased one, the exhaust note is so understated in the videos i havent seen one yet that does it justice! This thing sounds amazing! Only thing i dont like about the stock exhaust is the drone zone when im crusing around 2k-2500 rpm.
Great video and good meeting you this weekend at cars and coffee! Keep up the work and I’m excited to start slowly adding stuff to mine. Great car and yours is put together nicely!
Where in Iowa are you located? I should be getting my car in September and I really like what I'm seeing. I might need a good tuning shop next summer 😉
I dig your vids, I just watched your other vid on the GR Corolla. Has anyone told you that you look like if a sane brother of Dwight from "The Office" if he had a brother? If our economic system wasn't collapsing faster than the Hindenburg, I feel we'd be seeing a lot more of these cars on the road. I have seen nice vids on the GR Yaris that I believe(correct me if I am wrong)and The GR Corolla share the same engine.
Thanks! No, haven’t heard that reference before. Yup, same engine. I think partially Toyota wanted to test the waters here a bit and partially everything is still recovering from the Covid years a bit. I sure hope they see the interest and ramp up production!
Ok - so if what you are considering to be drone is simply hearing the exhaust then that's going to be the case on pretty much any exhaust that is louder than stock on one of these cars. What I mean by drone is when it hits certain frequencies that vibrate or resonate in the cabin and are very annoying, especially when they happen at light cruise loads that you spend a lot of time at. This is exhaust is certainly not quiet by any means but not annoying by my standards but everyone has their own opinion on that of course. :)
No. Very unlikely and it wouldn’t be for the same reason if it does. The FA24 is a flat engine with heads that lay flat. That lets oil slosh out of the pan and get stuck in the heads. This is a common issue to some degree on all flat Subaru engines. This engine is very different and looks to have a good oil pick up design that shouldn’t have any major issues.
@@boostedperformance_ oh ya im aware of the subaru oiling issues and im not trying to compare the 3cyl internally to the flat 4, just more meant it as wondering how good the oiling system in this new motor is!
@@spencer-oi5ih the awesome thing is, the ecu has oil pressure and we can log it so I’ll be checking into this at the track next weekend and I’ll report back in Episode 3! EP 2 is going to be about track prep. :)
@@boostedperformance_ wow thats actually kind of surprising to hear, seems like that car is pretty overbuilt in a good way, curious to see more aftermarket. have you looked into the OTL downpipe or have any plans to?
@@boostedperformance_ its a peppy engine but too small, its not built to go 100,000 miles....300 let alone moidded horsepower levels from that small an engine will wear more...thats all im saying
I think Toyota (of all companies) would take that into consideration. Especially with the fact that it is their first fully developed sports car in 20 years…..with the aiko Toyodas direct involvement in developing it. Highly doubt this thing is anything but stout.
@@KN-jw7ts im sure its stout. I have seen reviews of it making reliable power modded and stock, but also some failures of the rods. But most likely those were abused not maintained properly

I’m loving my GRC!
I’m a fan of these little GR’s. It sounds good Graham
We are too! They are just all around really fun cars!
Keep it up 👍
Great vlog
This is awesome and I want one of these cars. I would love to actually see you work on the car too
I’ll see what I can do :)
Appreciate the content and GR Corolla videos! Could you please do a video covering the oil cooler mod? Would be super helpful! Thank you so much
i'm loving my GRC but hate the overheating issue...interested to learn more about your oil cooler setup. Can you send a link to the Setrab oil cooler?
Cool!
Any updates?

We’re in the Des Moines area, Waukee specifically. Keep in touch for sure!
is the exhaust heat shield and fire sleeve for temp sensor available for purchase?
Hey man, awesome car. That racing/tow hook…..did you drill a hole out in that access panel, or just remove it altogether???
Thanks!
Yes we made holes in both the front and rear tow hook covers since we will keep the tow hooks in all the time on this car.
Ty for the response!

Ummm…..Economy has nothing to do with seeing these cars. It has to do with supply, not demand. Less than 7000 built a year.
The drone of that exhaust was evident through my lowly computer speakers....

@@boostedperformance_ certainly would be a different experience in the car I’m sure. 👍🏻
you were running e50 on the stock tune? or via the custom ECUtek tune?
That’s with custom tuning. Sorry if I wasn’t very clear on that. :)
I wonder if this motor will suffer from the same oil pressure loss in turns as the GR86 FA, curious to see.

The FA is made by subaru... it's a shame because the new GR86 is such a great car.
Engine too small.
What do you mean? It’s exactly the size it’s supposed to be. :)
