Consider this Replace: map sensors camshaft position sensors vvt solenoids Evap purge valve Oil Pressure sensors Fuel pressure sensor Pcv valve O2 sensors I replaced these on my car (S4), except the O2 sensors, PCV valve and the fuel pressure sensor they are next. None of these threw a code. Since I bought this car used, I just wanted to change some old parts. My car runs much better. Hope you and the family are keeping safe and keep up the good work!
I thought that BUT Range Rovers started in 1970 (like me) and are now 50 years old whereas Hannah was quite specific about wanting one for 6 years and 3 months. The Evoques came out in 2012 so idk 🤷🏼♀️. Any other ideas?
Just a thought but if it was an experience car at a race track, is it possible they de tuned with a map? I only say that because I drove a ferrari 360 at Silverstone and thought it was gutless.
I'm really happy for you and your wife along with your wonderful pup, hope you keep doing these builds of buying cheap sports cars and rehabbing them... Your fun attitude is wonderful always upbeat and outgoing thanks..
Mat, mate, gutted for you after so much effort. Everyone loves a trier. Fingers crossed for getting the R8 sorted with the power it deserves AND MORE. Love the video. Little wing by the way FFS oh and the G63 in the unit for Hannah?
Worth checking plugs as well and make sure running high octane fuel as well. 70bhp drop is massive considering these are normally understated from factory. Worth getting it over to VAG specialist for a proper diagnosis.
HAHA Mat i know that feeling! Last year due to you I bought my own project car and without experience I took the whole engine apart. After building everything back together that first start is something else hahah. Love what you're doing!
Oh Mat my heart sank for you when you turned that key the first time...been there...amazing how hot one can get all of a sudden 🤨 Your reaction when it kicked into life was priceless. You still have a beautiful motor even with 70 odd horses galloping in the opposite direction...you’ll find them 👀 little wing gets my vote 🤏🏼
Great video Mat. Definitely should go for the little wing. Big one just look awful. Definitely thinking hannah new car is a Range Rover Sport Autobiography.
Dont know if u still have this car but ive had alot of audi and a big power loss on these are the MAF sensors. Even when they "work" theyre still giving the car less hp after some time on the road. Not 50 hp to get there but a solid 10 hp i would guess. And small wing my guy ! Loving your content !
I know that feeling at 2:48 sec. Been there with my motorcycle. Just that the fuel had not been primed long enough to start. Which is probably what happened when it fired on the second key turn.
Awesome vlog matt,I know disappointed about hp,but compression test will show you reality, pistols,or valves,or surely a remap should bring it back to original 420 bhp, have you checked you ECU,could be faulty, Stay safe

What kind of Dyno is it? Mustang dyno is notorious for under reporting HP on AWD cars. Also, what elevation setting is the dyno at? Sea level or current?
Hi matt , awesome video as per usual but can you tell me how and what camera setup you using to film on back of your bumper? I wanna film my rs6 like this
Did say in the last video, with that much carbon in the engine, the valve seats won’t being sitting flush ! Loss of compression is what’s cost you your horses
Hi Matt I’d go small wing and big wing won’t suit the car but any way too video today and feel for you after not gaining any power but I’m sure you will sort it thanks Tim
Little wing Matt. Looks classy like the car. ❤️ Big one looks horrendous 😱😱 Real shame about the BHP but great job done cleaning the valves etc. Guessing the compression tests will just tell you the rings and or bores are worn. Which may be about right for a car of that mileage ? Unless your very lucky and it’s just top end. Wheels are absolutely sick though buddy ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Little wing I think range rover sport what temp is is running at as my son has s3 stage2 look at thermostat as he was told if they are play ing up can lose a lot of horse power
Another great video Mat, shame my TTS is running 376bhp, more than the R8. I have a S8 4.2 360BHP engine sitting on a pallet on the garage if you need it lol. I'm sure it will get sorted. Love your channel, can't wait to next video😉🥂🥂🥂🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Small wang Mat, keep it classy. As for the work you've done, it's a common myth on the 4.2FSi V8 about carbon build up and cleaning. Did the same on my B7 RS4, was running 396bhp at 90k miles pre clean, had it cleaned, the manifold de-flapped, ported and polished and it made 7 bhp more. Very few 4.2V8's ever made 400+ bhp, compression testing is a must as is checking the vacuum and secondary air injection systems. A kink in the vacuum tube and loss of vacuum pressure accordingly does have a significant effect on power as the engine dials back. The vacuum is to actuate the manifold flaps and also connects to the exhaust valves so check you've sealed them properly when you've installed the Armytrix.
Cheers mate obvs in the video I walnut blasted the intake getting rid of all the carbon and had the injectors done making no difference. I did notice the vacuum was a little on the low side when removing the hoses so I’ll check them. Hopefully the compression test comes back well
Whenever I buy a different used car, as a first measure I do a compression test before I even clean it so I know what I'm working with. Also when you did the walnut blast, did you close the waves on each cylinder you were doing?
I told you several times in previous comments. It’s not the engine. It’s the transmission!!!!!!! I had the same issue. Tho you can’t just flush it, give it a deep clean~~ power shall come back. Also change the piston rings for the newer fixed models.

small wing for sure and regarding the power loss, I would check if the cats arent clogged, it should probably throw a code but you never know, a clogged cat is a huge restriction
Again great video Matt, Shame about the R8 but it's had a hard life before you owned it. Keep the small wing if you really have to put one on and keep the subtle styling that suits the car or you could ruin all your hard work making the car look cool, I'm with everyone else Hanna has a Range Rover she wagon? 😎✌
Little wing or Big Wang? What we thinking?? 🧐
Big wing
Little
Little wing, this is a classy build not a ricer build👊🏼💪🏼
Little, much more subtle
Small
Definitely the smaller wing mate 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I reckon the smaller wing goes with the style of the car more, its not a racecar style car. Love the vids mate xx
Little wing, big wang doesn’t look right how far up it sits
Little Wing & I reckon, RR SVR as that one you had she was in love with.
I thought that also. Turns out it was a c63
Consider this
Replace:
map sensors
camshaft position sensors
vvt solenoids
Evap purge valve
Oil Pressure sensors
Fuel pressure sensor
Pcv valve
O2 sensors
I replaced these on my car (S4), except the O2 sensors, PCV valve and the fuel pressure sensor they are next. None of these threw a code. Fuel filter
Fuel pumps
Change transmission fluid
Change differential fluid
Compression test
Reset ECM

It has just broken engine, it's shitty audi. Only full engine rebuild can help in this.

Hey Mat. Saw a G-wagon at 1:22 and theres a quick snippet of a Merc steering wheel. 6 years 3 Months (G63)!!!
Love how this project is turning out! We also recently took on a 4.2 V8 for our channel, but in the form of an S6, not an R8! Keep it up!
Just a thought but if it was an experience car at a race track, is it possible they de tuned with a map? I only say that because I drove a ferrari 360 at Silverstone and thought it was gutless.
Good call, maybe get Mallory to check the map?
6 years and 3 months?? Is that code for a c63 👀
Hannah more the type for a G63
