So I've listened to all three Japanese, European and North American intros, and it's probably because I grew up with the NA intro, but it feels like the NA intro is the most natural way the music started. The other two have a repeat of the first synth chord (when the Polyphony logo shows up) and then their respective songs start up a lot later. This one blends in nicely to where the pistons fire up in the intro.

I remember my dad showing me this game when I was 4-5 years old. I have slight memory of playing it, but this intro brings everything back. The eeriness of the PS2 sounds and being inside the engine of car, then hearing Lenny Kravitz jam out as you leave the garage. What a great game.
