I have been cooking ghee rice / biryani rice in the cooker for years. My rice ratio for 1 cup rice is 1/2 cup of boiled water. And I cook for 9 minutes without the whistle on a lowest flame. And also I don't add onion whilst cooking the rice only add fried onion just before serving with cashews and raisin in my Kannur way of cooking 😊

I forgot to mention that I don't open the cooker immediately I usually leave it for 20/30 minutes to rest the rice and after opening it you could use a fork to fluff it out so that rice does not settle in lumps.
