I bought an XT6 because it is a luxury ride. Living in Los Angeles, I don't need the AWD so I saved a bunch of cash and got the Premium Luxury model. Frequent trips to Vegas are dream drives. Plenty of room, lots of convenient tech, and plenty of quiet (when my wife is asleep) so I can enjoy the car. I never expected this car to drive like my Corvette.
I think this competes squarely against the Lexus RX-L. Both front drive, v6 powered, three row crossovers. And since everyone wants to rag on Cadillac for this being a fancy Acadia/Traverse. What do you think the Lexus RX is? It’s a fancy Highlander. Not sure why other brands can get away with this, but GM isn’t allowed to.
Yup, yet Ford(Lincoln/Mercury) fans don't realize that the majority of all the new ford/Lincolns have been recalled but are usually first to criticize GM.
OK, my turn for comments....was waiting for you to jump in with your review. So far most of the other reviews online have been ok to good, none really bad. I've seen this car at my dealership but not sat in it yet, much less driven one. 1st question back to Motoman....you said at the end that the interior wasn't that much different from the base car to the fully optioned Premium Luxury model with the different leather. Is the Platinum package really that unwhelming in this application? It has been a significant upgrade in other cars like the CT6 and Escalade. The last time Cadillac sold an (optional) 3 row unibodied SUV was the 1st generation SRX, sold from 2004-2008. As you may remember, I owned the 2005 version of that car and drove it for a decade before my late, lamented 2015 CTS V-Sport replaced it. That car didn't have a sport version until 2007 and from what I understand, it wasn't that much of a change other than an appearance package. I would have liked a sport version (a real one) back then since my personal preference is something with more poise and handling, even if it is a 3 row baby buggy. And my previous Cadillac before that was the 2003 CTS with the FE3 suspension and summer tires. The 2005 SRX was cut from the same platform and while not a "floater" per se in ride quality, it was not my old CTS. It was a tall, long wagon with a wider track. I've since moved to driving a 2013 SRX (2nd gen) and that vehicle is more of a comfort floater than my original 1st gen SRX. It's all about chasing the Lexus RX versus being an X5. But there is a marketing lesson here. The original SRX was a RWD/AWD platform that always reviewed well with critics....and no one bought it. The 2nd gen SRX wasn't sporty at all and outsold the original car going away, even into its last year before the XT5 replaced it. So it looks like Cadillac is going back to the tested formula of luxury ride over sportiness for most buyers for SUVs. That means a FWD/AWD configuration and then working from that. Sure, it's not as sporty as a RWD biased chassis like the Lincoln Aviator but Cadillac probably thinks they'll sell more cars this way. And like Audi (also FWD/AWD biased), they can still offer sporty with some technology upgrades for the buyers that want that. I personally would want a RWD/AWD layout but us car guys are in the minority here. And eventually when these vehicles turn electric, these arguments will be all academic. One more note....I've complained about the cheaper materials below the interior sightlines in Cadillacs ever since I had my 2003 CTS. I've been hoping for years that Cadillac would finally get the message and stop doing it but apparently, it's still a problem.
Yep, VERY much by design they are going back to the luxury ride. And did our conversation a couple of months back have any impact on the 2013 SRX you are driving:)
@@MotoManTV Yes, me keeping my CTS V-Sport was on life support when my wife and I called you and you pretty much killed any hope I had (thanks buddy! :-) Anyway, I took a 2013 SRX off the used lot which isn't close to the same, except for similar dashboard features and a buggier CUE system (1st year software, yuck). I did find what happened to my old car. It wound up getting sold at auction...I'm thinking because the Carfax wasn't clean (minor cosmetic fender bender last year). I had accidentally left a garage door opener and registration information in the glove box and the boutique dealership in Texas that purchased it sent it back to me, which was very nice. Of course they would be happy to sell the car back to me at $6K below what the price was coming straight off of lease. Ironically that price was within earshot of what my wife would take when we were making the decision in the first place (which makes me wish I understood more of the world of auto auctioning). Still, even if I sold my SRX tomorrow, getting the CTS back would be complicated. Still thinking about it though...
@@MotoManTV Actually, the whole leasing thing left a bad taste in my mouth at the end of it and not for the reasons you might think. I'll tell you about it offline sometime but I'm still dealing with the fallout.
Once you have 3 rows, the notion of a sporty driving experience goes out the window. They should have tuned it to a comfortable, compliant luxury ride.
Have you driven it? The X7 is powerful, but far from sporty. There's also the GLS 63 which gets a bit closer, but still no Cayenne. Imo currently the sportiest 3 row SUV is the X5 50i with M pack. However, now that Mercedes has brought the third row back to GLE, if they make it available in 63 AMG form, that's going to take the cake.
@@georgecostanza2695 I'm talking about the X7 M50i with air suspension and twin turbo 4.4 liter V8 that cranks out 530 HP. 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. That is impressive considering its weight/size. Not driven it but sat in one a few weeks ago. That interior sets the bar for luxury SUV's. Its a beast. I think that one I saw cost about 115K. But I still rather have that then a Range Rover/Mercedes, etc. The X7 can also drop down a full inch in Sport mode. I don't think it has to compete with the full on sportiness of a X5 50i . This is geared more at luxury/ride comfort. Mercedes/BMW are on top of the SUV market. When I was shopping the center stack/instruments on the Mercedes GLA 350 was too busy and the rear cargo space was smaller. The X3 was the clear winner in early 2019 in the SSUV class. But now, with the newer model they got their full digital display and touch screens (finally). But I still prefer the more functional design with roomier interior of the SUV's from BMW. Plus you can get bigger discounts on the BMW's. They sell more cars then Mercedes in the US. ALLOT more. The X3 is very reliable now as well. They fixed the few issues it had some years ago. They make a pile of them down south. I believe its the biggest exported car in the US. Probably about 150K X3's a year just in NA. IMO, the best SSUV on the market.
HiPlains1 I know what you mean, but acceleration does not define "sportiness". The thing handles like a boat, no matter what setting you're in. That's just my opinion. But these are facts: yes, BMW does rank higher than Mercedes in dependability by several positions, but although it's closer this year (BMW having launched their new full size SUV's before MB), BMW has been playing catch up for as long as I can remember, with Mercedes consistently besting them in US sales by several thousand units. On the global scale, that margin increases to hundreds of thousands. No, I'm not a BMW hater, my wife even has an X7 40i. Also, if you're shopping X3, the GLC would be it's direct competitor, not GLA. But regardless, BMW does have a slight advantage in cargo capacity. Anyways, happy shopping! Ps. My choice would be the GLC 63s 😁
@@georgecostanza2695 yes I meant the GLC. Anyway ended up with the pretty loaded X3 my wife's pretty happy with that. The new GLC has a better instrument cluster and Center stack but also got new fake exhaust. Anyway for me BMW just seems like a Better Built car then the Audis and Mercedes. I'm pretty impressed with the stuff that they're pumping out down there South Carolina.
Motoman, I think that guy Blake was out of line. I find your reviews very informative, objective and honest which I like. I leased then just bought my 2019 Chevy Equinox from Atlantic Chevrolet Cadillac on Long Island. It actually was smart for me to buy the vehicle outright at lease end because of how expensive used cars are right now (December 2021). I have roof-racks, a panaramic sunroof, heated seats and steering wheel and the larger touch screen not that cheap one you see in most Equinoxes. With just over 16k miles I paid 20k for the vehicle which includes the sales tax. Anyhow, I don't want to talk about my SUV but when I was the last time at the dealership I sat in the XT6 Sport and was very impressed with the exterior and I also liked the interior with the carbon fiber and the stitching. I thought the fit and finish was very good and I didn't mind the hard plastics down below. However, Cadillac needs to make available a digital instrument cluster (like the CT5) and a larger touchscreen like the competition (10 to 12 inches). They also need to make available a turbo V6 on the AWD Sport model.
I want it all where is the all-wheel drive option for 70k what is the problem? your'e in the back of the pack and your playing around, you want a model to follow look at KIA Telluride and Palisade.
As for the Telluride/Palisade, GM is not the only brand worrying about what the Koreans are offering. Those two examples have changed everything as far as luxury SUV price points/value. But GM has fallen asleep. This XT6 is not even relevant. Dead before it even hits the lots.
XT6 is in a tough spot. Not quite as well endowed as the GLE, Q7, X5, XC90 (for the price point), on par with the MDX, and RX-L in regard to luxury content, but being assaulted by the CX9, Telluride and Palisade. And XT6 is dropped smack dab into the middle of the conflagration. Add to that the Aviator hovering above like a halo, likely to go to the head of the class barring a catastrophic misstep. I see a problem here in product and timing.
Its just a brutally competitive segment. You have to throw everything you got to remain relevant. And GM, even though they could have done more, chose to just juice up a Chevy traverse and think buyers would not notice. Kia has BMW engineers now and their interiors basically look upscale German now. Ford pulled out all the stops and returned the explorer/aviator to RWD with an advanced boosted motor and completely reworked the center stack/gauge cluster. GM just keep the same old 8 inch display with even a more dated analog instrument cluster and then charge like it had all the updates of a kia or Ford. People are not that dumb not to notice.
@@HiPlains1 You're right! Cadillac seems adrift at the moment. We know they were chasing the Germans on the car front. Not sure what they've been doing in regard to SUVs; But other than the Escalade, I'm struggling to be impressed. And the new one had better put a right cross on the chin of the Navigator or we may be watching the slow decline of a giant; while a buried former competitor, (Lincoln) Rises.
For a long time, I would suggest getting a Cadillac over a Lincoln especially in recent years, and this is coming from a Ford guy. Now with the new Lincoln Navigator and their new design language and just better design for all of their models, I would get a Lincoln any day over a Cadillac. They're simply more luxurious, seemingly better made and just better.
mfmf100 There’s a lack of Lincoln mentions because people outside of TH-cam that are actually in-tune with reality know that Lincoln is irrelevant to Cadillac when it comes to sales especially in this segment. Cadillac has already been successfully competing with Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lexus, Audi, and Range Rover/Jaguar head on & without a third row since the first generation SRX was the last model that offered one (w/ the exception of the Escalade). The XT6 is very important for the brand, long-awaited, and finally here. Majority of this segment’s shoppers couldn’t care less about a Lincoln being RWD having 600 lb ft. of torque. Lincoln doesn’t know this market but are about to learn why the best seller is a FWD very refined N/A V6 producing 300hp.
mfmf100 why is it a “lack” of Lincoln mentions when Lincoln isn’t important? We’re talking about a Cadillac right now. I think Moto Man is just being realistic as far as this vehicle’s actual competition. Lincoln isn’t nearly as relevant to Cadillac as Mercedes, Volvo, Lexus, and Bimmer which is who Cadillac is targeting and successfully have outsold all but Lexus with the xt5.
mybro727 Lincoln and Cadillac have been rivals for nearly a century. The Escalade is a very important cash cow for GM and Lincoln is all over it with the new Navigator. To say Lincoln is irrelevant to Cadillac is ridiculous.
mfmf100 The Navigator has been all over the Cadillac Escalade? In what way? The fact it was the new entry of the segment in 2018 and it got some buzz/scored a few awards? Well the Escalade had already been the segment leader for many years at that point. If the current Escalade was newly redesigned for 2018 then maybe you’d have a point. To put it into perspective the Navigator doesn’t even sell as well as the Infiniti QX80. To say it’s been “all over” the best seller of the segment Cadillac Escalade is a far cry.
mybro727 Current gen. Navigator sales were up about 70% over previous - I’m sure that has Cadillac’s attention. The broader point is that they’re traditional and current rivals. Motorman even relayed that Cadillac was targeting infinity and Acura more than the Germans, and that the Cadillac’s rode more softly. I think you’re underestimating how direct a compare the Aviator will be.
I think from a sales to the average consumer perspective, softer damping and a more compliant ride is best. Having a sport version is necessary if only to compete with the higher fluted brands with whom they are trying to make inroads.
I don't know if your mike is set up too far from your face or if you just mumble, but there were several times in the video when I could not make out what you were saying. Otherwise, a good review!
Primarily older customers (over 65) buy this. Just the few that have a little brand loyalty and maybe have some good experiences with a dealership. Basically, their customer base is moving to other brands or already dead. This brand is dying. You better believe it. Its been a slow process but started with the Japanese introducing their premium brands back in the 80's (acura, Lexus, infinity). Slowly other oems added luxury options. Now Cadillac is the bottom of the barrel.
HiPlains1 GM is about 8 - 10 years too late with this. The Cadillac XT6 should have come out when the 2001 Acura MDX or 2013 Infiniti JX35 (QX60 now) came out, at latest 2014. In 2019 there are much better 3 row luxury crossover vehicle options like the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, BMW X7, Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, Infiniti QX60, Acura MDX… and the list goes on... I think most buyers will be cross-shopping this Cadillac with the far superior all new Lincoln Aviator and go home with the Lincoln instead. I know I would. As far as the Cadillac customer base fading away. Most people still associate Cadillac with soft riding boat like boring cars made only for retirees and pimps. I think they will stick around due to popular models like the Escalade and XT5. The new CT4 and CT5 sedans should pickup whatever Lincoln sedan buyers are left out in the cold due to the MKZ and Continental being discontinued this year or next. Ever since the 2003 Cadillac CTS came out they’ve been on a mission to go head to head with the Germans at BMW and Mercedes-Benz with middling success. Despite rave reviews from the press I rarely see anyone driving a new Cadillac CTS or CT6. They’re even discontinuing the Cadillac CT6 this year and it’s all new Blackhawk turbocharged V-8 engine (550 horsepower!!!) they had planned for the high performance CT6-V this year. American cars in general are going away including the Chevrolet Volt, Chevrolet Cruze, Buick LaCrosse and everything from Ford except the Mustang. Better get a Cadillac CT6-V while you still can.
@@gedaman GM thought juicing up a Chevy traverse was all that was needed. Meanwhile Kia has German engineers bringing us a Telluride that looks very German like. Ford is pulling out all the stops putting back RWD into Explorer/aviator and completely reworked the center stack/instrument cluster. GM gives us the same old 8 inch display and a twenty year old analog gauges like nobody would notice. I get allot of butt hurt comments from GM fanboys for saying this but it is what it is.
The Aviator just runs rings around Caddy's very best efforts in this category, covers all the bases and places the bar beyond Cadillac's reach. It's such a crowded class and GM engineers dropped the ball here (could be the bean counters, who knows)....
Basically a juiced up Chevy traverse. Definitely a major cost cutting effort here. GM could have done more but decided against it. Only thing they seem to care about and are putting investment into is the new C8 corvette.
They toned down the typical akward Cadillac design here. Which is a good thing, speaking from a European perspective. American cars will loose the 10% import tarifs here in Germany soon, so maybe we will see more American cars over the next years. My brother has a 2018 Mustang GT 5.0, German specs, which already offers an unsurpassed value for money in the German market. Nothing even comes close. Interior quality, as you mentioned, is very important in Europe. That´s where US cars usually still lack quite a bit.
Good point. When I lived in Europe, I was utterly shocked not only at the value a car like a Corvette or a Cadillac was on that side of the Atlantic but also how many people were open to them.
I'm a car guy too, but I do NOT want my SUV trying to be a 911... that's what my 911 is for... that's why I went with GLE over Cayenne. Here's what I look for in a SUV: a magic carpet ride, build like a vault, the latest tech, an intelligent awd system, and above average power... all areas where MB shines. Here's where I think Cadi kind of missed the mark with the XT6: they should have aimed to make a less expensive Escalade, rather than a more expensive Acadia.
I can not stand the XT4s interior, far too many buttons on dash, I love the XT5s and XT6s interiors much simpler in design and and it forms into the Cadillac “V” shape!
this car will be a complete failure due to the Aviator. Aviator's interior and luxury features are on par with the top dog Range Rover(not the wannabe Range Rover "Sport"). Putting a NA V6 in an SUV at this size and price point is stupid. That alone puts this XT6 out of the running. There just isn't enough low end torque to make for a luxurious drivetrain.
Softer SUV with a good AWD for my usage - road trips. AWD is, for me, a must as I hate the front wheels spinning so often - like in RX 200t FF. Also RX is too stif for any road trips to the mountains. 2013 Grand Cherokee was soft in the corners but I do not care as I drive slowly in the mountains. High tires made it easy to drive through rough surfaces.
Which shouldn't be the case.😕 seems like GM put more of their talent in Chevy (Which can be good or bad) based on the c8 rather than Cadillac which is not a good thing for caddy. It took Ford nearly a decade to figure that out with Lincoln and now they're paying the price with sales.
GM went into the Chevy parts bin hard on this one. Same crappy FWD transversely mounted 3.6 slammed all the way forward and the same old 8 inch display used at nauseum for years by GM. The instrument cluster is the biggest joke using the cheapest 10 year old analogue cluster. Basically a Chevy traverse with new sheetmetal and upgraded leather. This is bottom of the barrel. Take your pick any of the competitors can beat this easily. The new ford explorer, aviator, telluride, BMW XT7. But mainly the aviator as its domestic rival did the work to bring a RWD boosted inline motor with all new full digital cluster and German like interior. And I agree, the C8 is the only thing GM put some money into.
Problem... 2:02 notice the gas gauge.. it show full right now. No needle, you just know this by the little lights on the outer parameter. Now look at the temp gauge on the right. it is reading about 1/2... again NO NEEDLE, you really need to "LOOK" at the gauge and linger, as you try to determine the actual 'level' vs the background indicators... This is an AWFUL DESIGN... GIVE ME RED NEEDLES ON A BLACK BACKGROUND...
Cadillac has no caché. It doesn't ooze status to anyone but certain Boomers. The cheap lower interior screams of cost cutting by GMs accountants. I'd buy a GMC Acadia Denali, and save several thousand... or buy a more handsome (Land Rover-ish looking) Lincoln Aviator with a gorgeous interior for the same dollars.
Daniel Gross the Lincoln Aviator’s interior isn’t gorgeous until you move up to the Black Label trim which is the only handsome looking trim but it isn’t for the “same dollars” as the Cadillac XT6. The Cadillac looks good in every trim even the base model Premium Luxury for thousands less. Do your research.
I have a 2020 Chevy traverse as my work car and when I see this car I see a souped up traverse. I also see the resell value on this thing being poor. For that much $$ I would go BMW or Volvo.
Love the exterior design, but the interior doesn't do it for me. Already looks dated just like the current xt5. i own a '15 cts (3rd cts. It's been problem free-even CUE) and my car has softer touch padded materials even on the lower door panels and this almost $70k vehicle doesn't.
I hope Cadillac learn from Lincoln. Don't get me wrong, Lincolns are not perfect but have found the correct path and strategy to truly compete with BMW, Benz, Audi and Lexus. Cadillac has not! Unfortunately, it seems more appropriate to compare XT6 to a KIA Telluride or Hyundai Palisade. It is obvious that GM is still trying to bargain on the "Middle Game". Their vehicles is always a betweener compared to luxury European offerings. Similarly, CT6 is not supposed to directly compete with S class but falls is between E and S class. Although I love Cadillacs but sadly, I feel another bankruptcy is coming for GM because they are determined not to learn from their past mistakes.
The Lincoln Aviator has the same motor same transmission same frame as the Ford Explorer in fact on the Google comparison between the Explorer and The Aviator they raided the Explorer higher
There's a special place in hell for the 3.6, conveniently located right next to the GM beancounters. Like all Cadillacs, the XT's exterior is well designed and somewhat attractive. I feared it would be an XT5 with a butt job like the Lexus RX-L, thank God it wasn't. That said, it desperately needs a set of 22s & it should've been wider. The interior is where it falls apart, which is the case with the Cadillac, its as predictable as politicians lying their butts off. Its just an updated XT5 interior, everyone does it (X5 > X6 > X7, Q7 > Q8 & GLE > GLS), but XT5's Interior is uninspiring to begin with & that's my problem. And as you can tell, it reeks of GM's cost cutting measures. As always, excellent work, M.
WOW, Amro!!!! Tell me how you really feel:) So you're a proper Cadillac guy and appreciate what they do . . . Can't help but noticing all the hate in the comments about this Cadillac - more than others. Why do you feel that is the case?
@@MotoManTV I'm tired, M. Rooting for Cadillac is mentally exhausting. Its always the same old story we've been hearing for the past 2 decades & how's the big turnaround is always around the corner with the next big reveal. And the result is always the same ... attractive sometimes even beautiful exteriors saddled with average & uninspiring interiors filled with GM's "signature touches" & in most cases a parts-pin special engine ... the 3.6 family are the usual suspects. The XT6 is a prime example of that. The Volvo XC90 came out 4 years ago, everyone took notice of that gorgeous interior & upped their game, even Lincoln, the joke of the industry! Yet Cadillac acts like nothing happened. This is just like when Apple first introduced the iPhone a decade ago. Both Blackberry & Microsoft laughed it off & see where they're now. In that same time frame BMW introduced 2 modular platforms (one for RWD & one for FWD) & transitioned all their mainstream cars to them, Yet Cadillac still dragging their feet with Alpha, Omega & whatever the GM crossover platforms called ... Audi is developing their 3rd generation modular platforms as we speak. And don't get me started on the charlie foxtrot that is the CT6 situation. d And
MotoManTV I’m not understanding his issue with this interior. He complained about how uninspiring the XT5 interior was on base models and I completely agree. But this is NOT that, it’s an obvious improvement and upgrade from that. This is closer to the XT4’s interior but even a slight upgrade over that. These gauges look worlds better than the ones in the 2017 XT5 Luxury. The design layout is simple, intuitive, and just looks way better thought out. They’ve even improved CUE substantially and it kills other infotainment systems out there like the Lincoln Sync3 that’s in the Aviator. The CUE makes Sync3 look so outdated, slow, and like a dinosaur 🦖. These people don’t even realize how competitive Cadillac actually is in this market and how much they’ve actually been paying attention! The exterior of the XT6 is absolutely gorgeous in ALL trims with a very distinct design. That’s more than I can say about the Lincoln Aviator. When you realize the XT6’s direct competition is the Lexus RX-L the Cadillac XT6 makes A LOT more sense. They don’t get credit for that. All they get is the nitpicking of what people don’t like and why it isn’t closer to a German or Navigator/Aviator direct fighter. THAT would be the newly redesigned 2021 Cadillac Escalade.
@@IceDree Spot on! Your words are exactly my past two decades of some glory (v-series) , hope and now just plain tired. Love Cadillac exterior design...ok that's it, going to bed...nothing more to say for this couple decade Cadillac, V-owner fan.
Darkivaz - AAA girly, they only one that needs to go to sleep is you with your delusional ass. What’s a MDX? I don’t know what that is. 😂 I rather own a Buick or Toyota than a hideous cheap plastic Acura. I guarantee the Cadillac XT5/XT6 will be a hell of a lot closer to outselling the Lexus RX than the Genesis and Lincolns, buddy. Log off! 😂😂😂
If it doesn't have a longitudinally mounted engine with a rear wheel drive system that pushes to the front wheels, I have no and never will have any interest
Why do almost all car companies insist on using those hideous exterior door handles, that jut out from the body and ugly up the whole design? Totally lame!
Seems Cadillac has forgotten the Art and Science that captured me as a teen in the early 2000s. This car is uninspired in every way. Nothing special about it at all, and the rest of the line is going the same way.
Thanks, but no, thanks. I'd take a fully loaded Telluride or Palisade, with a few "dealer options," any day of the week and save myself $20K. The exterior looks pretty sharp but the interiors are subpar on the category this is trying to compete. A better option is the Aviator. Heck, I'd even drop an extra $20 for the mild-hybrid option.
H. J. Babilonia You’re obviously confused on the Cadillac XT6’s direct competition which is the Lexus RX-L. Please explain to me what’s so spectacular about the RX-L’s interior compared to this. The XT6’s interior with the Platinum package is absolutely stunning. As Moto Man said, they’ve obviously spent some money on the parts your eyes and hands come into contact with. The Telluride and Palisade aren’t luxury vehicles they’re the cheap “bang for your buck” alternatives and don’t compete with Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, BMW, Volvo and Audi. The aviator is hideous in base form and the Cadillac XT6 fully loaded is a better value than the comparable Aviator Grand Touring even at $70,000 since the Aviator is stripped down unless you go for a Black Label trim.
@@mybro727 -- please, read my comment again. I dunno' where you read Lexus, but it wasn't in my comment. Still, design-wise, and in my opinion, the interior is absolute blasé by any standard, be it the Hyundai/KIA or Lincoln. And, to reiterate, i'd take the Telluride/Palisade and save money OR put more money for an Aviator. Design is subjective, keep that in mind.
H. J. Babilonia No, how about _you_ reread your comment. There’s no need for me to, I already comprehended it in it’s entirety the first time. I personally couldn’t care less what your cheap alternative choice would be nor do I care that you’d rather spend $20,000 more on the comparable Lincoln. My comment was mainly in response to your claim “...this interior is subpar on the category this is trying to compete.” That’s where the Lexus RX-L comes in at since *that’s* the Cadillac XT6’s direct competitor and the “category” this interior is in. Before 2020 the Lexus didn’t even have a touchscreen infotainment system. So if this interior is subpar, what in the world does that make it’s direct competitor’s interior the Lexus RX-L?
H. J. Babilonia Yes, design is subjective. Neither the confused Telluride or goofy Palisade look as well designed, put together and styled as the XT6 even with their flattering wannabe Cadillac vertical LED lighting elements. Allow me to reiterate that the Lincoln Aviator isn’t attractive interior or exterior wise until it’s in the nearly $90k Black Label trim. The Cadillac looks good even in $55k base model Premium Luxury form. So there’s that. But I digress.🤦🏽♂️ The point is for it’s “category” and direct competition the interior exceeds the segment’s standard. You’re wrong. You can’t even begin to tell me what makes it subpar in comparison to the Lexus’ interior.
Rather have more of Cayenne/X5 feel. Looks much better than the Lincoln Aviator exterior wise but the Lincolns interior is gorgeous. Still would rather buy an X5 for the money.
Kia Telluride and Palisade are way more luxurious and have more features. Cadillac is offering a Traverse for way too much money. Cadillac is failing so bad and clueless. Lincoln is passing Cadillac. Cadillac is failing miserable
Blake Swan Except this isn’t a Traverse and this XT6 doesn’t compete with any cheap Hyundai or KIA. They compete with the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia. They aren’t even on Buick’s level of build quality, fit and finish let alone Cadillac. Yes, please do enlighten us on how far Lincoln has surpassed Cadillac and how clueless Cadillac is while they outsell nearly every Lincoln currently in production. Oh, because Lincoln designed the most adjustable driver’s seat 💺 man’s ever seen and went RWD on a soccer Mom’s family hauler while packing it with 600 lb ft. of torque? Then decided to end production and kill all sedans? Make it make sense please. Lol
palisade is awesomeness!!! and super smooth and quiet. now a days anyone can make a great car/suv. just gotta get the best price and run it for 20 years.
Lol GM is better than your Ford recalled garbage. Ford only sells to businesses but people buy from GM. If you compare all ford/Lincolns sold to all Chevrolets/GMCs sold, GM wins.

STUPID... S-P-E-L-L I-T O-U-T !! C-A-D-I-A-L-L-A-C !!!! 3. and I want a nice sized ANALOG CLOCK on the dash board... ANALOG MEANS a clock with hands... EASY TO READ.. "AT A GLANCE" I dont know who GM hires to work as car designers now, but the need to fire everyone and start over.... Start with people that actually LOVE CARS.
Who's idea was is to go after the mid grade of big 3 German manufacturing. WTF happen, why does a Cadillac need to complete with a 3 series and the X3 or the Audi Q3. WTF, and stop make this oxymoron Small Cadillac sht... it's like Toyota a 200k car in the USA and not badging it a Lexus. A name carries weight and Cadillac is getting lighter by the generations. Please make CT6 coupe and body slam the 8 series, S class, Bentley and Rolls Royce all at once. Make an American business man feel proud to spend 200k on an American luxury machine. Why the heck can't an American manufacturer make a 200k luxury car or crossover SUV. Cadillac and other American manufacturers were king in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and some in the 80s what happened.
Cadillac had real winners with ATS, CTS and V series. What have they done. This is an over priced monstrosity that isn’t competitive with anything. Who is buying this model?
Richard Leston How is it not competitive in anything? Because it doesn’t appeal to YOU? Lol just like all the other Cadillac trolls who don’t know what they’re talking about, you’re not very educated on the brand or familiar w/ the success of the Cadillac SRX and it’s successor the XT5. The Cadillac XT6 is larger, more technologically advanced, improved interior, much more refined 3.6L V6, and mated to a much better transmission. Cadillac knows this market and they are going to show you who will buy this vehicle. The people that can afford it, who wants the luxury nameplate, refinement, low owner maintenance, space for their larger family, and to ride in style and opulence is who will be buying this model. The same people who bought the XT5. Duh 🙄
Richard Leston Lol which “proper luxury vehicle” is that? You’re a European fanboy that doesn’t even know the segment. The sales numbers speak towards them purchasing the luxury vehicle of choice Cadillac XT5 and Lexus RX, dumbass.
I wish Motoman had an opinion and wouldn't kiss up to the manufacturer providing the free car. It's so annoying that he thinks his audience is that unintelligent that they believe his lies.
He did a good job reviewing this vehicle. His reviews are different than anyone else on You Tube. He was critical of the interior. Did you not pay attention of what he said of the interior quality below the armrests and he wanted a different finish for the wood trim?
@@johnls39 the whole vehicle needs to be critiqued, not just the interior. This is not a competitive offering in anyway especially at that price. Just because he's buddy buddy with the engineers doesn't mean he can't be honest.
Blake, I normally look forward to our conversations via this platform but have to say I am rather taken by your claim . . . and not in a positive way. Interior aside, what exactly was not addressed in this episode? I called out the engine for being noisy, the ride too soft and flat out deemed the car middle of the road in a wildly competitive pack. Then, as any professional, I pointed out the positives as well - of which, a number do exist. Would you prefer I get up on a soapbox, announce this car is landfill on four wheels (which it is not) and then walk off camera? I am A LOT of things, but disingenuous to this audience is not one of them. So much so, it costs me LOTS of views and OEM relationships. Most car channels that do well on this platform in today's day and age regurgitate press releases, put you to sleep with incessant top 5 lists, waste thirty minutes of your time pointing out nonsensical details or my personal favorite as of late, review a car with the all the panache of Eeyore. Ever wonder why you have not seen many Nissans on the show as of late? They didn't appreciate my honesty about their transmissions that are both unreliable and appalling to drive. Yet, did I get on camera with a Maxima and trash the whole car? No. Everything I said in this episode - good, bad or indifferent, was shared *directly* with the Gary, Steve & others before it went live. Furthermore, when I was in Detroit last week for other reasons, I shared this same honest impression with Cadillac's design director, yes, another friend. This is what you are missing . . . it is precisely that honesty that has grown those friendships, not glad handing as you imply.
Melvin Stewart if you’re marshmallows wanting to be toasted, yeah. 😂 www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/hyundai-kia-recall-over-500000-vehicles-due-to-engine-fire-risk/
Darkivaz - AAA Except the difference is GM will notify owners of the affected vehicles and dealers will update the electric power steering module software for free. That’s more than I can say about Hyundai/KIA Motors who blatantly ignored their North American customer complaints and as a result are being sued. Then they refused to appear in court to answer to their class action lawsuit for their failing engines resulting in fires potentially killing clients and their families. Some of these are brand new 2019 Hyundai vehicles btw, going up in flames a few days after leaving the dealership lot. At least you tried, fanboy. Hyundai would be proud! Lol 😂
Interesting timing of your comment. It's taken a while, but I am starting to see A LOT of these on the roads of LA.
Exactly. Thank you for seeing how gm is way to harshly critiqued when everyone else does the same and not a single word is said.
z z I think some people are still angry about the buyout.
Yup, yet Ford(Lincoln/Mercury) fans don't realize that the majority of all the new ford/Lincolns have been recalled but are usually first to criticize GM.
I think they should do a V-Series on this particular model.
Got to do something about this crappy non performance engine on the sport.
Love the Caddy styling, hate the Aviator styling. Can’t wait for the 2021 XT6 to come out for some more juicy options.
The Lincoln looks good
Nothing beats the style of Cadillac. For a sophisticated crossover and daily workhorse, family vehicle, the XT6 delivers results.
Now aren't you glad we had the conversation about never leasing again?????
@@MotoManTV Actually, the whole leasing thing left a bad taste in my mouth at the end of it and not for the reasons you might think. I'll tell you about it offline sometime but I'm still dealing with the fallout.
Good! I don't care how you got there, but as long as you don't lease again, I'm good!
This will start selling after 40% off MSRP and everyone qualified.
@gidiyup uh..when has that ever happened on new BMW's?
My god! It actually.. Looks good! :O
Once you have 3 rows, the notion of a sporty driving experience goes out the window. They should have tuned it to a comfortable, compliant luxury ride.
Not if your driving a BMW X7 with that monster twin turbo V8 and adjustable air suspension.
Michael Francis I choose the Palasade..digital dash, adaptive cruise control luxury suv for $25,000 less👍🏾🙌🏾✌🏾
Kia and Hyundai. Oh please 😂😂😂
@@HiPlains1
You're right!
Let’s be serious. A true luxury buyer wouldn’t be caught dead in a Kia Or Hyundai.
Many car enthusiasts want the caddy to drive like a cayenne but the people who actually would buy this vehicle would want a softer riding suspension.
That's what air suspension does which is on the two vehicles you mentioned
For a long time, I would suggest getting a Cadillac over a Lincoln especially in recent years, and this is coming from a Ford guy. Now with the new Lincoln Navigator and their new design language and just better design for all of their models, I would get a Lincoln any day over a Cadillac. They're simply more luxurious, seemingly better made and just better.
This is a nice review but the lack of Lincoln mentions is kind of conspicuous.
mfmf100 There’s a lack of Lincoln mentions because people outside of TH-cam that are actually in-tune with reality know that Lincoln is irrelevant to Cadillac when it comes to sales especially in this segment.
Question why do the engine covers look like that now? You used to pop the hood and the engine covers in a cadillac used to be like wow.
Everything about this car is disappointing
I don't know if your mike is set up too far from your face or if you just mumble, but there were several times in the video when I could not make out what you were saying. Otherwise, a good review!
With the all new Lincoln Aviator why would anyone choose this Cadillac instead?
Primarily older customers (over 65) buy this. Just the few that have a little brand loyalty and maybe have some good experiences with a dealership. Basically, their customer base is moving to other brands or already dead. This brand is dying. You better believe it. Its been a slow process but started with the Japanese introducing their premium brands back in the 80's (acura, Lexus, infinity). Slowly other oems added luxury options. Now Cadillac is the bottom of the barrel.
Ugly factor
Actually no I would go with the kia Telluride because it kinda looks like the Escalade I'm driving now
@@gedaman GM thought juicing up a Chevy traverse was all that was needed.
Another great MotoMan review, but two thumbs down on this new Cadillac. When will they get interior quality and NVH (the engine this time) right?
What museum is that where you show the shots of the old Cadillacs?
The GM Heritage Center.
Only thing they seem to care about and are putting investment into is the new C8 corvette.
why dont you do reviews on or mention the Lincoln Aviator?
Commenters still don't understand they aren't who this car is aimed at. Car reviewers don't get it either.
Nice review, interesting truck. Sport version should be available w/ other interior trims. Carbon doesn’t fit imo.
I thought the same thing about the carbon trim! It's the least sporty vehicle on the road but they have carbon fiver trim. For lightness hahaha
There just isn't enough low end torque to make for a luxurious drivetrain.
came all the way back to the east coast and totally left us in the dust. WWKD - what would kumo do
Does it have 'heads up' display? No gauges for Coolant, fuel, Electrical and Oil Pressure? No V8? Not rear wheel drive. Not for me..........
The Chevy C8 Corvette has far superior interior than XT6!
Experienced the C8 in person just after this shoot and have to agree.
And I agree, the C8 is the only thing GM put some money into.
love caddy style. but can't trust quality, build, and long term reliability.
Love Dave R!
Isn't Audi Q7 a competitor ???
Don't forget the BMW X7, and Lincoln Aviator.
I have a 2020 Chevy traverse as my work car and when I see this car I see a souped up traverse. I also see the resell value on this thing being poor. For that much $$ I would go BMW or Volvo.
It's not built on the traverse chassis
Brakes on the Caddy are tiny, wow.
The grill is nice, but the rest of the exterior is way too Square.
This dash looks like something out of 2010. They need to actually look at their competition.
jl sc I agree. Old dash...not even digital 🤦🏾♀️
Mazda?
it needs air suspension, and a proper engine namely LS....
It's not a SUV. It's a car. A crossover
I owned a NEW XT4 for 3 months and sold it. Ran out of gas twice, poor gauges, and poor gas milage = You run out of gas.
Ugh I will die if car companies start only producing crossover suv’s. They’ve taken over.
Good news! I called Morgan and they said they have ZERO intention to build one:)
They can’t get the details right.
I hate panoramic sunroofs. Would actively avoid.
The Lincoln Aviator has the same motor same transmission same frame as the Ford Explorer in fact on the Google comparison between the Explorer and The Aviator they raided the Explorer higher
I would respect them more if they used there own platform and engines same for GM with Cadillac
It would have been a major hit 5 years ago. Tech, features, and design looks a bit outdated compared to its competitors..
And don't get me started on the charlie foxtrot that is the CT6 situation.
d
And
MotoManTV I’m not understanding his issue with this interior.
The prices on this are stupid. Fully loaded sport should be $61k. They might sell one. That QUE system looks junky. Everything else looks great.
Needs more torque.
But I digress.🤦🏽♂️
The point is for it’s “category” and direct competition the interior exceeds the segment’s standard. You’re wrong. You can’t even begin to tell me what makes it subpar in comparison to the Lexus’ interior.
@@mybro727 -- don't forgey your meds before bed time. 😂🤣😅😆😀🤣😄😁😂😆😅
Oh boy, another minivan. 🤔
Can u say R.I.P. G.M. yet?
Rather have more of Cayenne/X5 feel. Looks much better than the Lincoln Aviator exterior wise but the Lincolns interior is gorgeous. Still would rather buy an X5 for the money.
👍👍👍
The current of upcoming Toyota Highlander would still be a better buy than this, Cadillac just seems like it gave up as a a luxury brand
Kia Telluride and Palisade are way more luxurious and have more features. Cadillac is offering a Traverse for way too much money. Cadillac is failing so bad and clueless. Lincoln is passing Cadillac. Cadillac is failing miserable
Blake Swan totally agree you could easily get the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade well optioned for way less money
Kia/Hyundai are nowhere near close to the luxurious Cadillac. And Cadillac still sells more than Lincoln, always has.
Lol GM is better than your Ford recalled garbage. Ford only sells to businesses but people buy from GM. If you compare all ford/Lincolns sold to all Chevrolets/GMCs sold, GM wins.
Looks like my 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. And I paid waaaaaaaay less for it. Still nice though. :D
Berapa harganya ???? 😋😊
PROBLEMS with Cadillac's "NEW" designs... 1.. GAS GAUGE.... No more sweeping style needle, now you get little tiny lights in a bar graph semicircle design. VERY HARD TO READ... JUNK. STOP IT. "Sweeping" needles are EASY TO READ "at a glance" I dont need to be taking my eyes off the road for extended periods of time searching for these little tiny lights. VERY ANNOYING...
2. NO WHERE on these NEW Cadillacs, is there a "CADILLAC" emblem... Hey... I just spent $75,000 or more on MY NEW CADILLAC.... S-P-E-L-L I-T O-U-T !! C-A-D-I-A-L-L-A-C !!!!
I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW IT... Behind me? "CADILLAC" on the tail... riding passenger? "CADILLAC" on the dashboard.. walking past my car in a parking lot..? "Oh wow, WHAT IS THIS.... LOOKS COOL...." Looking all over the car, you find NO NAME !!! Unless you have learn to read "AUTOMOTIVE BADGING" you have no idea what that car is... It might be a new Audi... or..? YOU JUST LOST A SALE... STUPID... S-P-E-L-L I-T O-U-T !! C-A-D-I-A-L-L-A-C !!!!
3. and I want a nice sized ANALOG CLOCK on the dash board... ANALOG MEANS a clock with hands... EASY TO READ.. "AT A GLANCE"
I dont know who GM hires to work as car designers now, but the need to fire everyone and start over.... Start with people that actually LOVE CARS.
"SOMEWHAT LUXURY" lmao, some other reviewer said this was way superior and didn't compare to the XC90...
If that's a proposition I'm not interested
The ct4 and ct5 are both less expensive than the ats and CTS now.
Duh 🙄
Darkivaz - AAA LMDAO. Nobody is mad but you, Hyundai fanboy. You have no idea how stupid you sound.
mybro727 The people who can afford it buy a proper luxury vehicle. The sales numbers speak for themselves.
Richard Leston Lol which “proper luxury vehicle” is that? You’re a European fanboy that doesn’t even know the segment. The sales numbers speak towards them purchasing the luxury vehicle of choice Cadillac XT5 and Lexus RX, dumbass.
Sorry Cadilac.... Telluride is a way more..
I AGREE. This thing can't even compete the Model X
Land Cruiser.........why screw around with this crap.......
Looks like. Mercedes g class
MotoMan for the win!
If it’s not electric, it’s done. Thumbs down until motomantv gives Tesla a chance.
You are so narrow minded its sad.
Horrible looking interior.
Overpriced junk
Telluride/Palisade same power/tech, similar luxury,, $20K less. Cmon GM.

At Melvin, no wonder they bait people with that warranty and cheap price
At Darkivaz AAA
Hey FORD/LINCOLN recently RECALLED the MAJORITY of all their NEW vehicles. THEIR BIGGEST RECALL.
Lol 😂
