      And that’s purely as a function of each, independently, increased spending and increasing circulation of existing money.
      That’s before the benefits of:
      Making a new healthcare system with administrative costs of a few percent, instead of, like, 20%
      Putting it towards education, thereby increasing productivity
      Building effective programs to lift people out of poverty, increasing productivity*
      And more!
      *while fundamentally a good thing, there are flaws in how welfare works here in the USA.
      For one, due to poor design, people can hit a situation where if they get a slight increase in income, they suddenly end up worse-off (because, for example, they’re suddenly ineligible for food stamps, and their food costs more than the income increase).
      And that’s just issues with HOW it works, not issues with how many people it covers and such.

      @ValorWarrior5258 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then your professor is pretty smart, We all could easily go back to a way of living that would put us all equally in the same boat...Corporations make/sell things we WANT, or else they make no product... if we do not buy their product and do not consume it, then the corporationsmake no money, hence, they are as broke as we are! So, if you really want to do something about corporatios , it is simple:
      Grow your own food, and eat ONLY what you grow,
      Make your own clothing, bed linens, towels, washcloths,and bedspreads, etc.
      Do not own or purchase ANY electronics at all( radios, tvs, cell phones, curling irons, flat irons, ) nor any electric appliances ( microwaves, electric or gas stoves, refrigerators air conditioners, cars, trucks, elecrtric coffee pots etc.) Utilize mules, horses or walking to get where u need to go!
      basically draw your water from a well, or a spring, or retrieve it from a creeek to use for washing yourself and your laundry, and for cooking and preparing food on your wood cookstove or campfire, which ever you have chosen to use.
      And last but not least, if you want meat to eat, you have to purchase cattle, chickens, and any other meats you want to raise and consume( rabbit, snake, possum, etc).. once you have set up your home and garden and pasture land, you will be set. Warning though: Be ready for lots of hard work, no time to play, or visit friends or go shopping... because in order to maintain the lifestyle you would be living, you will be cooking breakfast about 4:00 am, and by the time your animals are fed and taken care of it will be time to cook dinner, and them any laundry, clothes making repairs, etc . can be done until time to cook supper, then by the time u draw and haul water, heat it up to wash up dishes, it is probabaly bath and bedtime, around 9:00 pm...... and that is a mild day in the life!

They called the working poor the "moocher class" and the top 1% of earners the "productive class", they talked about how the poor aren't actually poor because many of them own a refrigerator or a microwave, how billionaires like Warren Buffet and Bill Gates who publicly say they should be taxed more to shut up and somehow socialist, and then when the sequester went on without the big tax raises on those making $650k or more that Obama wanted they blamed him for the funding deficit.
    Conservatives, amirite? Not actual conservatives like Eisenhower or Nixon though, I mean the neocons and paleocons like every Republican since Newt Gingrich ran for the House.

      You are either super rich or super stupid, if you like the current system.
      1. If big corporations and super rich people actually payed their taxes, that would be enough to pay for free college.
      2. Universal healthcare would actually be a lot cheaper. You might have to pay a little more tax, but you would get your healthcare very cheap or free. Don't forget, even if you think you are super healthy, you can be wrong, it can change any time, and you are definitely be old some day. So you will need healthcare sooner or later.
      3. I know that Trump pretends to be a dictator, but you still have some democracy left, use it to change the system. For example you can support the Justice Democrats.
      4. If everything else fails, you can always move to Europe. Or Canada. Or Mexico, even they have universal healthcare.

    Being Dutch let me explain "our" role in this total scumbaggery.
    The Netherlands has some seriously big multinationals. Think of Royal Dutch Shell or Unilever but there are a lot more. These companies are active pretty much everywhere on the planet. These companies used to generate a lot of tax revenue to the Dutch treasury because the Dutch government is quite unique in having negotiated tax treaties with just about every country on the planet. These allow all the profits made by Dutch multinationals to be transferred to the Netherlands without any taxation. Taxation happens in the Netherlands. That generated a lot of tax income and mainly f*cked over poorer countries. Therefore this was some "good old European policy".
    However these tax treaties also allow money to be sent from the Netherlands to other countries. That is why just about every multinational on the planet now has a global or at least an European "headquarters" in the Netherlands. These are literally housed in buildings which contain thousands of mail addresses registered to them and accountants in offices which do the paperwork for a number of companies. The Dutch treasury takes a small percentage of all these huge transactions to some island and everything disappears to a tax heaven. Basically a few trillion dollars passes threw these "headquarters" ever year, and the Dutch treasury takes about €2 billion in taxes from it.
    Now for the good news. This is starting to get very controversial over here, finally. Sadly we are once again stuck with an administration filled with a bunch of worthless, spineless sell-outs who think this is all fine. They are more interested in massive budget cuts, keeping income tax very high or calling poor people lazy. Fortunately for us and others around the world there is something called the European Union. The Germans and French, and basically all of Europe except the Netherlands, Ireland, Malta, Cyprus and Luxembourg, a.k.a the tax heavens, are actively pushing for this loophole to be closed. It will probably take a few more years, but it will be closed thanks to mainly French pressure and German support for this. If it is done right, and the EU tends to do things very thorough, it would largely collapse the entire system. This because it will become impossible to stash profits at a tax heaven without paying taxes for the transfer.

    • @EvilFookaire
      @EvilFookaire 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Also a Dutchman here. You'rew fairly accurate, but the EU is pretending to look for closing these loopholes while in reality, they're simply looking for ways to dip (and double-dip) into that sweet, sweet flow of money.
      If they were really into closing those loopholes, well, they had at least four great opportunities to hit that shit in the head with a baseball bat over the last 15 years, but instead they put on silk gloves and asked the multinationals to wear a strawberry-flavored rubber so the European citizens might at least like the taste of getting rammed.

      Man, your optimism is refreshing but really, fiscal harmonization has been a topic for yeaaars, nothing changed, and there aren't specific reason why they would. We still need unanimity for anything to happen in this matter, and as with unfortunately almost every other topic each country is too caught on its own interest for lines to move.
      Seriously, it's just the tip of the iceberg and the EU still to had to bring Ireland to court for them to reluctantly >>Accept

    • @DanielWW2
      @DanielWW2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I know it has been different with the European Union, but this time they really seem to mean it. Remember that the European Union has only two ways of creating legislation. The first is through the European Commission proposal where all 28 commissioners are appointed by the EU member states. They are there because national governments appointed them to serve at least some national interest. The second route is a national government requesting legislation which is then created by the Commission. European Parliament can only say yes or no to legislation and I don't expect them to be against a very pro European law. In general the EP tends to be far more on the side of normal people than some national parliaments.
      Now it seems that the French will be pushing the second route to get there national interests, fair taxation on multinationals to help the struggling French economy. Because financial legislation has to pass with unanimity of all member states there needs to be given something in return. That will be the French there problem. They want minimum tariffs on multinationals per country and the end of tax routes, so they got to present something in return.
      That is the game being played right now. Germany on this aspect is on the French side, so it will happen at some point. Once the Netherlands flips because "we" got enough, the rest will be seduced or if necessary bullied into submission.

    • @sheelaflower
      @sheelaflower 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Coming from a German, we have been against these tax loopholes for years. And while, for the longest time, we've only frowned upon them, ever since the EU became prominent in every day life, both, politicians and normal people have been pushing and pushing for those loopholes to be closed. I currently live in France, and there is a very similar atmosphere here, mainly because the French are very self-sustained and proud of their local products and want to protect their small farms and factories. However, just two countries alone, however powerful they might be, can do very little and we do need support from other European Countries.

    Great show as always!
    Google, Amazon, Apple, Facebook etc. in Germany pay merely 0.005% in taxes. That’s 50 bucks of every million they make. It works like Amazon Germany pays almost all of the profits made in Germany to Amazon Luxemburg (where they have a desk) just royalty for using the name Amazon. From Luxemburg it then goes to the Netherlands where they save on an other tax (forgot which it was). Then it’s sent to Ireland before it goes to the Caymans or wherever...

    • @TheHeavyshadow
      @TheHeavyshadow 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Don't forget Starbucks, who pay literally nothing and, indeed, are getting tax refunds. Every single dime they earn in Germany gets payed to Starbucks in the Netherlands as licensing fees for using the name "Starbucks", so there is nothing for Germany to tax. But money made from licensing is exempt from taxes in the Netherlands, so they are paying barely anything over there either.

      After that, the remaining $30,275 is taxed at 15%. That's 4,541.25.
      That's a total of $5,473.75.

Also if you're making that much you should really consider contributing to a 401(k) if available or maxing out an IRA as well as HSA if it is an option. That will lower your tax liability at the end of the day.

There is a reason why they teach things like advanced algebra and other shit you don't need in school, but don't tell you anything about where your money is going and why if the rich are giving less than the poor. The system, from the schools, to heathcare, all the way to the economy, is corrupt and it won't be fixed any time some.

      Actually, Wino, I would argue that "ur" much cooler than those braggy, show-off, pot heads! I mean, YOU just watched a comedy show, and in the little digital space below the video, set aside for extra smart ladies just like yourself, is a spot for everyone to comment on what they just watched, and call each other trolls or butthurt. Or an SMH (I don't know what an SMH is, but it sounds bad, right?) So while Tony Tone and Love is Dope just HAD to make sure the whole world knew how "fresh," and "with it," they were by toking their cannabis cigarettes, they continued to flush their lives down the devil's drain and into Satan's septic tank. But YOU? Winy? Well, you just kept cool and commented on the world wide web comedy video. Because that's why this space for commenting is even here. For commenting. YOU lead by example - through your actions - not words. "I'll leave the weed and the words and the friends to those two squares," YOU said to yourself. "So what if they try to come off as humorous by trying to tell the world that I broke the law just so they could get a worthless piece of internet fame," you said humorously to your computer phone web screen. They may have attacked you personally - or "trolled" you - but did you take the bait? Like an un-hungry fish who knows what underwater lines in the sand not to cross, you did not, I'm proud to say. I wish I could just snap my fingers and make it so every single person on this 'net was like you and me. Just a couple of respectful and neat-o pals surfin' this crazy web of waves, trolling like you're supposed to: for comedy videos in those very waves below. Keep your chin up, Winona. Oh, also, those other two comments before mine? About the free, naked, web sex? Hit me back if yous into that shit playa...looks legit...

    I'm a teacher. Could someone explain to me how Trump is helping us? I can no longer write off classroom expenses on my taxes, yet I still have to buy classroom supplies, so I'm actually out more money now. Since January alone, I've spent at least $100 on small yet necessary things like paper and pencils.

    • @mbatson13
      @mbatson13 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      You can deduct educator expenses (up to $250) on line 23 of form 1040. That was not removed from the tax code... they talked about it but a lot of teachers' unions offered their opinion on that part of the law and it stayed in place. If you have expenses that exceed that $250, I would put those on Schedule A line 17. That type of expense would qualify as a charitable expense. Of course, it only works if your able to itemize your deductions.

    • @tyiffpeijc8702

      @Tyiff Pejic Yeah, I don't like that I have to use a portion of my paycheck to buy pencils and paper (weekly, might I add, because elementary schoolers can't hold onto anything for more than a few days), but it's honestly just something one comes to accept about the job. If my students need something, and their parents and the school can't provide it, then I have to because I want them to be successful.

    What is super frustrating here, is that US citizens have to pay taxes on all income that they acquire everywhere. True, there are credits given for paying foreign taxes, but only if you’ve not resided in the USA for 329 days in a 12-month period.
    Yes, if you as an individual fly over to say Germany, and get a short-term job, work half the year, pay your German taxes and then return to the USA, you have to pay full US taxes on that income as well.
    Meanwhile, apparently, a corporation doesn’t have to give a fuck about how much money it makes overseas until it returns it to the United States…
    Oh, did I mention that if your parent is a US citizen, you acquire citizenship automatically, and that since there is a lengthy and demanding process to renounce your US citizenship, there are people who suddenly find out at age 20 or so that they’ve been US citizens all along, and have to now file all their back taxes, before being even allowed to consider renouncing their citizenship? And that renunciation apparently (according to my sister) costs about $2,000… “Oh hi, Johan. I hear you found out that despite never having set foot in the United States, you’re now technically a US citizen. Now, before we’re going to allow you to say, ’no, I’m fucking not.’ We’re going to require you to settle your tax bill on all the income that has never once been subject to US jurisdiction before, and then pay us a tidy sum just for the privilege.”

    • @lisar3944
      @lisar3944 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And that doesn't even get into FATCA and FBAR filings. In Germany at least, FATCA has left americans unable to invest in anything beyond a savings account (with 0 interest) or crap retirement annuity (with almost no interest). Meanwhile, if you have savings or foreign account balances totally 10k or more (combined) and you don't file your FBAR? they can fine you 50% of your holdings. Yep. all to catch all the "crooked" "tax evading" individuals who MOVED to other countries and try to have a normal life.. I caught up on my taxes last year as I do plan to renounce my citizenship as soon as I'm eligible to become German. I honestly feel like my financial security demands that I leave my US "person" status behind, as not being able to invest is a financial death sentence.

    • @puellanivis
      @puellanivis 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So, having just looked up FATCA and FBAR… FBAR requires every US citizen to declare all of their foreign financial accounts if their total holdings outside of the USA is over $10k at any point in the year.
      And since the USA obviously ran into trouble with people reporting this stuff voluntarily, they passed FATCA, which requires the _foreign banks_ to collect that data for them, and hand it over to US authorities. And if they fail to do so, what happens? Well, the USA may sieze money as a withholding towards any potential tax liabilities of their clients but _from the foreign bank itself_. How can they do this? Well, to quote this adorable video from MoFreedomFoundation, “15 fucking aircraft carriers, that’s how.” th-cam.com/video/Y-EVF7CZt_w/w-d-xo.html
      Seriously, I came here to drop a mindblow on some people about how draconian US tax law is against natural persons as opposed to businesses, and I get _my_ mind blown…
      I mean, just when you thought US taxation of citizens overseas couldn’t any more fucked up…
