The singing profoundness of Gil Shaham's tone is very reminiscent of Kathleen Battle's transcendental voice in her rendition of the Agnus Dei of Mozart 's Coronation Mass directed by Herbert von Karajan in the St. Peter's Basilica on the occasion of the celebration of the holy mass by his Santity John Paul ll.

A friend corrected me concerning Altmann's lovely clarinet. It is made in Okinawa by Josef Woodwinds (Musik Josef) and is the professional model M11 (19 keys, 7 rings).

Thank you -- a beautiful interpretation of this wonderful piece. Is it just me -- at about 1:10 (repeated at 3:56) it sounds as if the cello plays a bottom E (rather than E sharp)?? Is this a variant reading of the score or am I just hearing it wrong?
