Mad hatter is a sick song they released for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 and re-released on Black Reign, but you should also react to Dancing Dead off of the Diamonds In The Rough remaster or Not Ready to Die (another song on Black Reign, originally released for Black Ops 1)

Both of those for sure! Roman Sky blew me away when I realized they were talking about Giordano Bruno. I think they watched the new Cosmos series and it spoke to them (the Neil DeGrasse Tyson monologue at the end of Exist is pulled straight from that, even). Can't say I blame them. I still go back and watch it every so often.

Brooks Wackerman really gave this band the drummer they needed since the rev passed away same with trivium, both bands went through some lows since the departure of travis on trivium and rev's death for a7x but Alex and brooks really pushed this bands to the top of the metal world tbh. As far as a recomendation mine would be to check out exist, sunny disposition and god damm

Most of this album is very proggy but has classic A7x riffage/leads built into it. This is by far my favorite album since city of evil, in between I could care less about that material. I love that they went in to progressive/classic rock-metal direction. It fits them very well and it shows that they are so much more than just some bro metal band, which they clearly were starting to box themselves into. They are pushing boundaries and that's what it's all about when you're an artist.
I suggest checking out Sunny Disposition off this album, it very out of the ordinary and I just love the lyrical content of the song. Would love to see you check out enterprise earth's cover of 'Now you've got something to die for' too.

What I absolutely love about this whole album is the perfect balance the band has found, especially Synyster Gates. There's SO MUCH class in his playing here (not that he wasn't amazing before that), he has such a classic feel in his solos, yet always takes it many steps further! Years after its release, I'm extremely proud of a7x for this album!

For fast and aggressive from new A7x though, you gotta go with God Damn. It's only like 3 minutes or so, but man... it hits. lol

  • @ItsRazorlol
    @ItsRazorlol 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Listen to God Damn. It's aggressive and thrashy but at the same time really unpredictable. there's so many genres in this album that you have to listen to the songs 2-3 times to really "get" what they were going for. I myself didn't like the album when i first listened to it but it grew on me so much after listening to it a couple of times. It's probably one of my favorites from their catalog but i can admit that it's their best "musical" album to date.

If you want hard and fast listen to God Hates Us or Blinded in Chains, although the 15min Exist is HEAVY... at first. However, I recommend you hear their hits from previous records.
City of Evil is worth a complete listen if you haven't heard it all. Lyrically and technically it is impressive on every level, but if I had to narrow it down, I'd say Beast and the Harlot, Blinded in Chains, Bat Country, Sidewinder, Betrayed, MIA.
Their white album has Afterlife, Almost Easy, Brompton Cocktail, and definitely do A Little Piece of Heaven with metalbabe when you can. It's a pretty unique track.
Next is Nightmare the last record the Rev wrote in. He passed away during the writing process so they dedicate some some songs to him. (title track), Buried Alive, So Far Away, Fiction (suicide note), Save Me.
Then, do yourself a favor and skip Hail to the King. The album itself is not bad, but not worthy of reacting/reviewing. This album is what happens when Avenged Sevenfold goes into a depression.
The gems of this album (The Stage) are the title track, Fermi Paradox, and Exist. The other tracks are awesome (lyrically as well!) but they definitely are a strange turn they took.

Avenged Sevenfold’s homer fan base is coming out in force to this video haha.
The Stage is far and away their best song and album. Not every song is good, but this album has the greatest amount of stellar songs on it and the best musicianship aside from the Nightmare album that had Mike Portnoy on the drums. The drumming went to places that it didn’t go and wasn’t capable of going before. The guitar work is also amazing and has a ton of feel. I just think this album is great and the title track is incredible.
I get what you’re saying about the song feeling like 5 minutes and wanting more, but the song feeling like 5 minutes is a good thing in my mind. I think it says a lot about the quality of a song (depending on the genre’s context) whether the song feels shorter or longer than the actual time length it is.

Check out Exist if you want feel and prog, then God Damn for something heavier with awesome riffs 🤘🏻

Try Buried Alive from Nightmare or God Damn from The Stage for the ease into factor and then you can check out Exist which is a terrific track. My recommendation anyway. Cheers, and great job my dude

Not gonna lie, I wasn’t feeling the first part of the song but once they got proggy I was like damn...The ending with the sweeps and then the slow-down reminds me of why I used to jam these guys so much. I remember picking up Sounding the Seventh Trumpet when I was 14 and then Waking the Fallen but I haven’t listened since...

One of the deepest metal songs ever created lyrically and musically
Takes you on a whole journey of the history of our planet and how we're all just puppets performing on a stage for the puppet masters to get enjoyment out of

Drummer is Brooks Wackerman from Tenacious D, don’t know if he’s still the D’s drummer but he’s damn good

Fermi Paradox is the most unique song on the album, imo. It's like a black metal song at parts but with clean vocals, really strange structures, and there's a ton of solos.

“Their drummer is so good” made me really sad cuz it made me miss The Rev. This drummer is great but Jimmy was not only an amazing drummer but a core part of creating the best music this band has ever made :/ RIP Jimmy
