Nice one Nick / Adam that incoming supply cover is a great idea the amount of broken and manky ones we see is unbelievable I have screenshot the info you posted.
Hi Nick, great video. With reference with what date to put on inspection stickers after an EICR, I think the following wording from the EICR covers you to put the date of next inspection on once the EICR is complete and before any remedials are done: '...provided that any items in section 8 which have been attributed a Classification code C1 (danger present) are remedied immediately and that any items which have been attributed a code 2 (potentially dangerous) or require further investigation are remedied or investigated as a matter of urgency. Items which have been attributed a Classification code C3 should be improved as soon as practicable (see section 8).'
Keep the vids coming man BUT...HONESTLY. for the gap at the top of main switch, why would fire mate mastic not be suffice on the top instead of having to replace the whole double pole main switch?
Quick tip, when your getting back into the van take your body warmer and Adam take his jacket off, then when you get back out, put them on, they’ll keep you warmer when you need them👍🏼
you should do a apprentice off with CJR-electrical! make the apprentices compete in installation skill and knowledge. we have done this to a couple of students that were under our mentor ship
Could you use an amber coloured sticker when indicating remedial or advisory work needed before next test ? Indentifiable without reading small print with date
Great content. The new van got broken into? You need to get a lock-up might help. Mark Allinson talks about his one and he has gone all minimalist now with just pack outs that can be rolled in and out and locked overnight in a unit.
Hi Nick great channel your detailed walk throughs very informative. Are consumer unit casings a standard depth?. I have about 180mm max in an area I would like to have one fitted, but not sure if this is a suitable clearance depth.
I think so, I can't see that it was really worth the difference of 3 quid or whatever in cost of materials for what would be a better job. PVC conduit would have looked better than trunking as well for the same cost.
Is there no way tradespeople can protect their tools in vans etc with smart water and/or dye ejectors as are used in security vans to protect money etc? I don't know how expensive the systems are to buy and install but if anyone breaking into a van came away with tools that were clearly visible as stolen it might put an end to what has to be one of the shabbiest things one working man can do to another?
I must have an old giant meter cabinet. I looked into getting one of those bad boys and the blighter wouldn't fit. :( If you know of anywhere that does a larger version that would be wizard.... Oh and gloves dude. :) even the site ones will keep the chill off.
Great video Bundy! I'd also normally code the 1mm cable off the back of the socket as C2. But does anybody know if Reg 433.3.1 (ii) means that we need not code this if its a single accessory (e.g. a light) that is not likely to carry overload current due to its design?
Cable isn’t protected as it’s probably spurred off a 32A or 20A breaker, even if off a fused 13A spur the 1mm cable wouldn’t be protected regardless of the accessory on the end.
@@steveb1856 No what he is referring to is that the fixture can only pull max 100w? so will never overload the cable. The same way you can tap off a busbar chamber with 10mm tails to a 40A fuse switch when the chamber fuses might be like 200A but no more then 40A can flow through the 10mm tails.
@@lewis94uk the accessory can’t but a fault condition could overload the cable before the circuit protection breaker trips, which is why you need to fuse down for the 1mm cable, wire it in 2.5mm and the cable would be within the rating for the circuit protection?
Hi, i recently dropped out of my third year in university. I am now hoping to become an electrician. Will me dropping out effect my chances of getting an apprenticeship and becoming an electrician?
Yes. Dropping out is viewed badly as it implies that your not going to stick with it. You will be up against people who have no black marks on their record and people with training who have lost jobs due to Covid. Apprentices cost a lot of time, money and frustration to train.
Had a letting agent yesterday insist that as a legal requirement they needed an EICR, even though the property had recently had a new consumer unit fitted, and had been inspected and tested as part of the installation. She said this was due to government rule changes that came into effect in June. Can you confirm that this is the case.
Legends, Great video. I'm either studying L2 in sept 21 or apprenticeship. I subbed because hey nice work. I'll demo be recording my stuff if I can. Not bothered about giveaway, Just like learning really.
Great video lads as always. Adams pay rise will soon come when it"s needed. He is probably the luckiest apprentice in the uk as he gets treated with cloths tools and a lot more than most apprentices get and has the advertisment already without finding work thanks to Nick but I'm sure Nick would have Adam on he's side for a very long time as you can see a great team already. P.S Nick you're looking fine with the new hat.

YES IDEAL is one of my favorites here in the USA I grew up in their backyard so to speak.
That Adam chap will make a fine sparky once he's ditched that Bundy fella

Nick what’s the make of those shoe covers called
www.toolstation.com/mukguard-overshoes/p19744
I think Adam deserves a pay rise not wanted to increase your rating he does all the hard work you just do the filming 😂😂😂😂
Fantastic video you need some handwarmers and some feet warmers.
4:15 - yes, I was thinking exactly that! ;-)
I recommend thermals underneath.... Sports direct sell campri brand cheap. Jerseys and tights
Yes another video so excited! Great job

What about the exposed conductors in the dist board?

Completely agree!
@Dusty 99 I don't even know what thats meant to funnily mean mate, if its not related to what I'm saying then don't bother commenting 👍🙄

Where did you buy the meter cupboard from?

I’d have changed to twin box to a dual pattress box and fitted a single socket and Fcu think it would have been a neater solution

another great video from both can you do more videos of call outs and consumer units changes keep up the hard work
Is that a light in the main fuse ?
is the money really worth it working into the evenings? or is it something you just have to do for customer retention...?
Trunking out of the fused spur....??? No copex??? 😂😂😂.. Great vid as usual keep up the good work..
Nobody gonna mention the backhander? 😂11:53
I hope Adam kept it
Would it not have been more appropriate to use a metal surface mounted double socket to bring the SWA in?
I think he said it was being done to a cost. It’s a rental. Metal would be good for rental though

Can you put the link to the 'meter cover'

Probably only issued an installation cert , so yeah it would need one
Yes, the agent is correct, you need an EICR.
Yes, EICR every time property goes void (change of tenant) also a gas safety check.
I would have said a pay raise 😂
Who makes the maleable boxes
We call them conduit entry back boxes, contactum do make them
